SATA = 1.5GB/s
SATA2 = 3GB/s
Where GB = Gigabit!

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA

Lol.. P4 only have SATA.

@Jcsy
U sure ah? USB 2.0 can hit 3.GB/s for the transfer rate? I thought the maximum output of hi-speed USB 2.0 was 480Mbit/s? hmm.gif

Edit: The GB = Gigabits! Wish it to be GigaBITE! drool.gif

But the speed in not guaranteed right? I mean the bandwidth, not all the device can support max speed. And there will be some losses in translating the data with the interface and computer.

It was. smile.gif

@Ray & astria
Yea.. I think there is no devices which can work with 100% full speed atm. Sure there will some losses right? If USB version of external storage, it depend on the chipset on the casing as well. Some chip can corp with the speed and some cant.

Theoretical i think USB is faster but then the problem on the connector of the devices. That what i can think of.

Ur board only can run SATA. Meaning if u plug in the SATA2 HDD into it, it only run at SATA speed, which is 1.5GB/s.

Haha.. Mr google will tell u a everything la! Just google! Sometime the explanation is too long! Lazy to type. tongue.gif

@bai1101
Not to this AHCI is bad. Well.. It is because 4350 were running on SATA HDD and actually the hardware in it were create for Vista. But people tend to force XP into it. By right XP do not support AHCI, that is why when people face problem with formatting it. Anyways, just slip stream the SATA driver into your XP installation disc then problem solved. Im currently running on AHCI mode on my rigs in XP. Everything is running fine. Atleast the potential of SATA HDD been unleashed. icon_rolleyes.gif
