Yesterday night heavy lightning strike.
After that found out my p4 rig dead, I suspect it's the PSU since it has some very soft "buzzing" noise when I switch on the Mains power. Then today found out that the ADSL modem is dead as well. My laptop cannot detect the modem and the modem's ethernet LED is not on as usual.

So today bought a new PSU and ADSL modem. The new ADSL modem is working. However, the p4 rig is still not working after replace the PSU. The motherboard's internal power LED is still not on and still cannot turn on. But I touched the motherboard's network chipset and it's very HOT! So is that the motherboard dead liao? How much an old socket 478 motherboard should cost now?

If only the network card chip is gone you can always get another PCI-based network card to replace with it.

thats my old cpu la... maybe is because of the 1mb L2. well... yes, using my current p4p800x. running 1:1. 2.4A running on 188-190fsb, forgot already. not stable priming but manage run superPI. after that drop back to lower speed for everyday usage. that time was crazy times. now behave like good kids, all stock. tongue.gif

i think i will try push to the my cpu to max tonight. hopefully the new psu can help a bit.

last time my 2.8c only manage to reach till 3.4+- like that sad.gif even my 2.4A can boot on 3.5GHz last time. really envy those can push up to 3.6GHz and above...

@llutephie
i think even with p4EE, i dont think the performance will boost alot compare to your 3.2E. maybe 5%+- like that.... hmm.gif

just noticed your mobo is same as mine. brows.gif ever try to oc?? mine not really a good ocer. well... cant expect much from this "value" mobo. haha....
