Do anyone know how to check whether is it authentic 3M CR70 ? I am afraid might getting cheated by putting some other capalak tint but claim it is 3M CR70...

if 3M tint film authentication, u'll see '3M' on ur windscreen which had been tinted with 3M film, but i have no idea how to verify 3M CR70.

At 68% VLT, this will fail JPJ inspection (for front windscreen) on its own, not to mention adding it to the natural tint of glass which already blocks 5-11% transmitted light. So what are they going to use for the front since it's not going to be legal to put it in the front windscreen.

this s what i understood too. i m shopping for tinting film. rclxub.gif

Sorry if I am out of topic. I am looking for tinting, not gonna do it so soon as I still need to save up in order to do the actual tinting.
But from searching through forums, and reading from the websites, I came a cross with some conclucsions and questions.

1. 3M tint.
- VLT of 68% at best. Will not pass JPJ rules as required is 70%. Normail car already has 5% making it VLT of 63%.
- Is not smart tag friendly. Has a work around by cutting a hole in the tint. (not something I want to do)
- Slightly pricey.
- Will tend to shrink over time. Is this true?
- the main distributor is e-tint?

2. Air cool
- Supposed to be cheaper than 3M / Vkool.
- Has until 70% VLT means will comply with JPJ and even has a warranty where if within this certain period you do receive a summon,
Air Cool will bear the summon.
- I've seen the advert before but still not quite convinced.
- Has a 7 or 8 year warranty?
- Has anyone used this before? is it more advisable over 3M / Vkool?

3. V-Kool
- Recommended and offered as package by Car distributors. (Honda, Toyota, Nissan even Perodua)
- VERY pricey. Even over 3M by a bit.
- Is metal based so will rust in the long run. Can anyone comment on this?

4. Rike cool
- Also complies to JPJ rules and promises no issue with smart tag.
- Is there any other distributor other than in PJ?
- I dunno about the pricing but apparently under RM1000. Is this true?

5. S-cool
- I came across this one not in forums but from going to an accessory shop called Sato. Apparently S in S-cool stands for Sato.
- Suppose to be at most RM700 for a standard wira (I asked the sales person)
- Has anyone used S-cool before? was wondering if it is ok. I daren't asked too much as usually they try to make a sale and
me regretting after that and having to keep returning and getting it fixed would be a hassle.

Well, so far these are it. I still dunno what to choose but sort of narrowed it down to 3M and Air Cool for now. Was tempted to go for S-cool but still have
no reliable sources about S-cool.

Would appreciate opinions. Thanx.

this is what i heard from a friend of mine working at 3M tropicana there...

he used to use 3M tint on his vios (employee can get better pricing)

after a few years, he changed to huper. I asked him why he changed cause i was also thinking to get 3M for myvi and my friend told me that 3M tint will shrink (especially the front windscreen)

I am here not to flame or endorse any product, just stating what my friend experienced...

First of all, which type of 3M tint?
Shrink? I have my 3M Cyrtalline tinted since 2006. No sign of shrinking. It's still the same as day one.

I'm an owner of a car tinted fully with CR 70. Let me try to help your question on 3M
Yes, the VLT is 68% at best and yes again, the normal car already has +- VLT 5%.
But if you check all the brands, rike cool, v kool, air cool, eco tint etc, none of it has above 70% VLT. 68% is the best you can find. Even if stopped by police or fail puspakom check, you can always bring the saman etc for warranty claim so no worries.

Smart tag has no problem for me so far. Just need to slow down while passing the lane. So no need to cut hole.
Understand the very old smart tag device will have problem though.

Pricey, but to me worth it. Can really feel the difference. even my colleagues sat my car says good.

About shrinking, i also asked before but the person said that for the old Crystaline. New ones like the CR70 dont have this issue. Not sure how true though.

Hope these helps.

i just have 3m installed in my car in ipoh near the former yau tet shin market. EG610 for Side and Rear and RE70 for the front. cost my about RM980. I dont know its reasonable price or not for 3M. anyway, i just want to share my experience with the workmanship.

pls, if youre in ipoh dont go there. its just so terrible sad.gif i got specks of tiny black dust all around my window! i got a 0.5mm dust on my pasengger side window. its visible to the naked eye. on my corner small window, i can see the tint wasnt cut to perfection. it was senget! i took it back to change it, the lady boss (presumably the wife) ask me to wait for another few year for it to get bigger coz "anyway, you have a 5 years limited warranty" WT?????!!!! and for the tiny specks of black dust....the man boss (presumably the husband) said that it was unavoidable since its done by hand!!! you cannot escape the dust...its everywhere!!!

as for the senget tint, they kept silent, probably they know they have a lousy workmanship and prepare to replace for me.

i insisted that they change that 0.5mm dust tint, they gave in but with a dark dark face!!! and ask me to come another day!

i feel tired talking to them. its like giving me all the lame excuses only a 4 year old child will only listen. chinaman business...the aftersales talk sucks like hell.

i belief that the cost of the film is more less valuable than the workmanship. 30% - film 70% workmanship!!!

my experience, pls do not go for the value of the tint only, the most imprt is that you must see is (from my experience) that whether they have a special room for tinting..to keep out the dust (mine was done in aircond room BUT the room is a dumpsite...everything was done inside there means a lot of dust. you dont want to go there for a second or third time like me sad.gif
