To OP:
If you're interested in arenas, druid would be a good choice because just about every popular team setup in 3v3, besides RMP (rogue, mage, priest), has a druid in it.
As a mage, if you follow American trends, your team choices are more limited, basically limited to RMP if you want to be at the top.
If you look at Chinese teams though, you can see they have a lot of WMDs.

Anyway, the expansion will probably change everything, so just play what you like more lol.

Just choose a dps class, healing and tanking is really boring ( mayb its becoz i rolled a pally ........)

Some of my observation.....(strictly a nub's thought)

Rogue....

even if you are loosing a fight u can go 'poof' and hide in one corner, put auto run and go wall humping. After doing that call ur best friend/boy or girl friend up and chat about <insert fav topic> until the other team quits.

If you are feeling adventurous, wait for them to split up to hunt for you and u can reappear and sap the daylights out of them. oh u dont need to reappear to sap..sorry. Either that u can go to the forums and download / copy the cookie cutter combo and kick those clothies from outland back to elywnn forest. mages have iceblock so stop for a while and polish ur sword/dagger while u wait for them. Also the fear factor. Make sure you dont miss a beat in your combo execution.
Just make sure all ur cooldowns are up before attempting the above. Repeat all you want.

Laggy days are bad for epeen...so go farm herb or something. or green allies...heard they taste good

Get a macro up send pet in, sting it and call ur best friend/boy or girl friend up and chat about <insert fav topic> until mob dies. If grinding 'green' mobs pull 2-3 mobs to make it more 'interesting'

PPL complained about the huntards being OP until Blizz introduced the ultimate huntard killing feature Pillar humping!!!!!

(no worries blizz make each boss about 30 mins apart except in ZA timer run where u do get to loot the 4 chests within a 10 mins time frame(if you are successful), but a blue has stated that Blizz is currently looking into it.) If u spec surv for looting, you confirm get 2 loots out of 4...see the bear mount, pop the CD and all CDs are refreshed

It's hard to say which classes are good to roll as now since expansion is in like 2 months.
ATM the strongest/most popular arena classes are druids, rogues, warriors.. locks, mages and priests do fine,
though mages and priests are usually stuck with RMP. Paladins, hunters and shamans are almost non existent in 3v3 though paladins still have a place in 5v5.
3v3 might be faster for arena points then 5v5 though, shorter queues and a lot easier to get 2200-2300 rated.

For 3v3s, the most popular comps in the US are WLD (Warr, warLock, Druid), RMP (Rogue, Mage, Priest), RLD (Rogue, Lock, Druid) and cleave team which is 2 melee - Rogue, Warr, Druid..
When you're at the top, most of the time you'll prolly face these comps. But as long as you play a reasonable comp that's not retarded, 2000 rating should still be no problem.

If you're playing with a bunch of friends, play a warrior and get them to heal & support you. Pat's 3rd video is out, it should give you an idea what a fully-decked Warrior backed by dedicated healers can really do.

mage.

meh, just play until lvl 30. That's pretty fast to level up and get to know the classplay.

Then decide what you want to do.

Never tried mages before but I am hearin' that currently their mirror image are the pwnz in Wotlk

Druids would be better cause of their versatility I guess. Mages are just a DPSer.

Then again its all a matter of playing style. Why not try both 1st

Yeah Jas2davir, I know how you feel....you did not roll a huntard...is not too late though so you dont have to go suicidal, just reroll one huntard...

Play a hunter if you like being solo most of the time.

errr kusacow my main is a hunter.....and its not as easy as you say even my high ratings arena warlock friend who some times arena with me and make so much blody noise tryed my hunter then said "wah so hard la" not easy as ppl say it is thats why hunters are rarely seen to own the top 2v2 and 3v3 brackets

ok im rolling a mage, a horde mage, i might pick undead cause theyre cool and all dark or maybe a blood elf cause they pretty but faggish looking. A tauren spellcaster is just weird cause their big and horde and troll just really dont cut it, imagine a brutal looking orc in a pink suit ,thats just weird.

So which one ud or be?

Undead. It's like having an extra pvp trinket lol. BE's aoe silence can be very useful too.

But an undead should be a better mage.
