DDR5 is 2x faster den DDR3.

example:

800 Mhz DDR3 = 800 * 2 = 1600 (effective)
800 MHz DDR5 = 800 * 4 = 3200 (effective)

latest generation of ATI & nvidia card opted a very different solution for higher bandwidth.

nvidia still uses slower DDR3 but increase the bit to 384 & 512.

ATI card still uses 256 bit but opted fast DDR5 memory.
*
The GPU itself now is still not fast enough to get most benefits of fast GDDR5, wait for the 40nm R800 (direct X 11.0) core, the we can enjoy the full benefits of GDDR5!!

well, he is not wrong...u're the 1 wrong doh.gif...most card struggling at reso above 1680x1050 for crysis.
*
what he is wrong is he put the bottleneck of 22" monitor, it is deal to graphic card, not monitor.

WTA - is it ok to plug 4850 into a nForce Chipset Motherboard ??? was planning to buy P5N-D since im budget tight... or is there any recommended motherboard ??

My budget = 600 below
Processor = E8400
*
you should buy the mainboard based on GIGABYTE INTEL P45 mainboard with ultra- solid capacitors. (Ultra- Durable 2)
or you can opt for cheaper ASUS P45 mainboard now!

Could it be due to the onboard GC that is available on the NF6100? I tried different rotation before, like ATI cards on Nforce Chipset and Nvidia cards on ATI chipset and have yet to face any significant problem though.
*
I think you should update to the latest VGA driver..

around RM500? maybe HD4850 would be a more attractive option smile.gif
*
I dont think so.. as the HD4850 consume more power than 4830.

One Question.

If I have the cash.

Should I get a 280GTX or a 4870 1 GB

I prefer Iq more then performance.
*
my recommendation is get an ATI 4830 now... (you dont need to spend so much for graphic)
as the direct X 11.0 card is coming soon on MARCH next year!! (I recommend you to spend more on DIRECT X 11.0 card)

He wanted either 4870 1GB or GTX280, I'll go for 4870 1GB anytime though, better price/performance ratio.
*
then i have no much to say..
for me i would rather buy the ATI 4830 now.. and opt for 40nm DIRECT 11.0 ATI card next year!!

Since he wants a card now, then answer him instead of waiting for the next gen cards. Then when the next gen cards arrive, then you're gonna say wait for the 30nm DX12 card then? dry.gif
*
nope... I am quite sure the next generation card will consume less power... (40nm)
no need to wait further.. since it is direct X 11.0.
