Chill dudes. As for me, I would suggest try to avoid any 1k++ GC, get a normal 4870 or 4850 will do. Most probably you'll do an upgrade in 1 or 2 years time which made the GC worthless.

Unless you really sure want to use the GC for the coming years, then spending more on it is alright.

Regarding to dx11, IIRC the current dx10 card will support dx11 too.

are U sure?
i think not fully hardware supported.

..waiting for the reviews of AMD 4830 in the coming few days..
I think 4830 is the best buy without changing your current 500Watts or 480 watts power supply unit. While waiting for the DIRECT X 11.0 card coming after march next year..

I'm using a PSU 450watt only but able to run a 4850GS without a single problem. I have 3 120mm casing fans and 3 HDDs some more. Why not considering a 4850GS?
*
simply because im not playing games.. and i want to save some of electricity bill...
i choose it over ATI 4670 because 4830 is based on 256bits memory which is faster than 4670 of 128 bits.

1. 8400 is 128 bits memory if im not mistaken.
2. 8400 doesnt has ATI UVD2 (ultra crystal clear movies playback.

Haha just do as u do ar pal? tongue.gif
If really wanna save power and have ATI UVD2 to watch movie, then just go for 4670 la?
Besides, what LCD u r using? Since you din play game, 128 bit or 256 bit won't have much different since HD won't have too high FPS to transfer. smile.gif
*

I mean watching it at full screen mode.. full HD1080. there should be a slightly differences between 128 bits and 256 bits..

ATI 4830 PROS AND CONS:
PROS:
1. BEST VALUES OF $$ now..
2. reasonable good performance.
3. UVD 2.
4. best value card before the direct x 11.0 released.
5. reasonable overclocking capabilities.

CONS:
1. still consume a lot of power, but better than GT9800 counterpart.
2. still generate a lot of heat.
3. no direct X 11.0 native hardware supported.
4. overclocking might lead to instabilities due to a lot of heat generated.

MS said DX11 will support card that suppoer DX10

when other ocmpany came out with other design..the heat is not a problem

I believe that is software supported.. no native hardware supported..
as i believe that the shrink to 40 nm at March, 2009 will see a higher performance card which consume less energy.. or same energy that delivering more performance..

If new 5000 series consume same power as 4850 and performance double then I will change.

that's one is 50% true, i think.. but it is possible with: (just follow the following link in mandarin):

1 thing i learn from years of observation.......................
h/w will nvr b as powerful like rumors suggest b4 it is release.

lets look @ the latest example.
hd 4870 was rumor to beat 9800gx2 wit 1.4x the performance.
also, it is rumor 2 hav 1ghz clock speed. den rumor drop to 900.

eventually, 4870 launch @ 750mhz, doesn't kick 9800gx2 ass. but it is still a awesome card given the price.
*
that is why i said 50% true.. because usually the performance only increase up to the maximum of 50% ;p
