Well, 4870GS heatsink really look great. The heatpipes... sweet, nickel plated to avoid oxidation. (or whatever that material is).

hahn87, play Crysis Warhead until the ice part where you meet up with Eagle Team. I started to get blackscreen there onwards. Earlier parts of the game no problem at all. Probably cause surrounding all ice stressing the GC? =/

QUOTE(daTUK_SErI @ Sep 23 2008, 10:11 AM) Too bad because I cannot feel the excitement of DX10 when playing crysis... Its worked with XP x86/x64 but not with Vista x64 and x86.. arghh.. any other hd4850 GS users having the same problem with me?? Just get the the new ones from one the dealers here. They definitely have the newer batch which are fault free.daTUK_SErI, managed to get it working on DX10. Though performance seems not so good compared to XP. |

QUOTE(NetRaid @ Sep 23 2008, 11:50 PM) Aiyoh bro, just come exchange the card lar. New batch, improved chip. And collect your Free Digisound MP3 player. No need to test test so much... Want to make sure QUOTE(Mart @ Sep 24 2008, 11:04 AM) new 4850 GS user reporting in If at 6% fan speed got 36-39C is very good reading. Or are you in a very cold room + a very good airflow casing?I got the new batch and it seems to be really cool Idle: 36-39 Load: 43-45 (this is while playing Fifa 09 Demo, dont have other games to stress at the moment) My 4850 GS inside a CM690 closed case gives 38C or so at 55% fan speed. Aircond on as well. |

I'm using EP43-DS3, dunno if the layout similiar or not. But my 4850GS will extend and block all the 4 clips on the bottom part. I'll need to remove the card if I were to add/remove ram.

I saw the layout, almost the same just that this has 6 banks. When all of the RAM slot locked nicely, the card won't touch anything.

Maybe can ask Netraid what's the 4850 consumption when loaded then can roughly estimate? Those 450W real power with the front panel one.. friend says it shows about 300W when running furmark which stresses the GPU to 99% or so.
EDIT : http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-48...x-performance/3 Found this, E8400, Asus P5E3 Deluxe and Radeon 4850 plus the other standard stuffs is about 269 watt on load. Not sure about 4850 since it is overclocked. Maybe Netraid can provide info here? This post has been edited by celciuz: Sep 24 2008, 06:09 PM |

Excluding black outs when playing Crysis Warhead and GRID, it is alright. My 4850GS is the first batch arrived in Malaysia so it might be one of the unlucky faulty chips. Not yet RMA it yet.
Take note that my system is completely stock, wattage increases a lot when overclocking though. |

Bigger PSU gives you bragging rights if you don't actually use that much
Dark Steno, update and see if you still face the same problem like your previous card or not yea. |

Err, can't remember... But I thought your previous one had problem? This is the new RMA-ed? Or was it just can't play Crysis?
Btw, your temp.. errk... seems pretty high. Nv set the default fan speed higher? |

Actually if you can play COD4, you should be able to play Crysis. It is probably some software thingy problem. Make sure everything is updated to the max. I actually could not run Warhead in my Vista x64, but then after I updated everything properly it ran suddenly lol. Reverted back to XP SP3 since there's no use for me to use 64bit...
Peak memory usage was more than 4GB when playing Warhead, but in XP SP3 not even close to 3GB ._. 64bit enables me to use all 4gb... but in the end it still needs the virtual memory on the hdd. |
