BTW, your RS facing upwards? Giving better temp than facing the exhaust? I'll be getting the CCF with 2x 14cm fans exhaust on top. Still deciding between facing the rear or top.
*
Facing backwards is better. U know, the heat produced by the gc is sucked upwards cos the environment around cpu getting hot.
I install it that way for easy installation of the rubber screws. placing it vertically is hard to pull out the screws. 3 out of 4 screws damaged already.

4850GS and 4870GS has different cooler. About that Akasa vortexx being better than the stock... no idea though. But my 4850GS has better load temp that the akassa's temp pic posted though. Maybe different ambient perhaps.
*
Depends on environment too. My room temp is as high as Arab

Seriously... I would not mess with the cooler though, who knows you might need the warranty later on. 4870GS has dual fan + 3 heat pipes compared to the 4850GS.
*
That 4870GS cooler is confirmed way better than that of 4850GS & Vortexx.
That's y I dun wanna keep the cooler. tongue.gif

Those aftermarket cooler like Akassa is worth changing if you're using reference coolers. If you've those non reference, not worth to change =/

True, but except for that Sapphire 4850 Toxic tongue.gif

Turbo and Normal has different voltage setting in the BIOS maybe? But for the fan rpm, 4870GS cannot adjust speed? Don't own one, but haven't seen the rest complaining about their 4870GS not being able to adjust the fan speed.
*
Bcos 4870GS has 2 fans but the tool can control one fan only.
The switch is to choose between the dual bioses.

GDex also doesn't like other courier, they won't call to ask ur whereabouts before attempting for delivery & end up with getting a notice card in the mailbox.

back in some page in this thread i posted my rig using CM690 case with HD4870GS. my card auto fan at 50% and under load oso the fan will only go till 60%. checked using rivatuner's graph. idle at 50C load at 65C +-.
CM690 user with HD4870GS. side panel fan pls convert to blow out instead of blow in. open all the PCI back plate for air intake. HD4870GS not only exhaust air to the back of the card it also stray out from the side coming out from the heatpipe area so if u have your side fan blowing in it will only spread the heat throughout the inside of the case.

owikh84: can i know the spec of your PC? what motherboard you using there =D
*

Bcos some of them forgot the turbo switch at the back. wink.gif
Later on I might post more benches for Turbo mode.

could it be due to the system? maybe like his system support PCIE 2 vs my system only supporting PCIE 1?
*
Maybe due to RAM limitation on 32-bit OS? Since ur GC has 1GB of RAM. Ur max memory is going to at most be 2GB-1GB=1GB, bcos 32-bit OS has to use 1GB of that address space to address ur video memory.
It’ll actually b lower than the 1GB bcos there r other hardware resources that need address space, too.
Try getting more RAM like 4GB? hmm.gif
