BTW really the copper oxide is in black color.. laugh.gif the green blue thingy is not call copper oxide i thk... hmm.gif mayb it mix with other else element...

edit:
QUOTE
Copper oxidizes slowly in air, corroding to produce a brown or green patina. At higher temperatures the process is much faster and produces mainly black copper oxide.

actually the problem with CCF is the retention bracket instead of heatsink size sweat.gif

from the pictar its still gonna use the old bracket design  sweat.gif

Fins on heatsinks are usually pure aluminium.

Rusting happens only to iron. It's just a process of oxidation. Aluminium and copper do oxidise in air. However they are not called rusting.

QUOTE(kuanhon @ Dec 22 2008, 07:36 PM)
hi guys,

i overclock my E8400 E0 to 4.05Ghz on EP45-UD3R with following setting:

9x450, Vcore set at 1.175v, cpuz shows 1.136
2x1GB GSkill PC6400 + 2x2GB Ballistix Tracer PC6400 @ 900mhz 5-5-5-15 2.0v

load line calibration is enabled. both C1E and EIST also enabled, the rest all default setting.

passed intel burn test, but the temperature is pretty worrying..
idle temp is around 50c, core temp around 60c.. load temp hike to 80c, core temp around 82c..  shocking.gif  is there anything wrong with the temp? i don't feel comfortable with the temp lah (don't feels like running OCCT for hours with temperature that high..)

by the way, the cpu is cooled with Red Scorpion + TX-2 applied as per the suggestion here. closed case on CM Centurion 534+ with 2 12CM front in and 1 12cm rear out..

just to add on, the temp at stock speed is around 40c with core temp around 50c...  sweat.gif  comments and advises appreciated!
*
oik....... E8400 should not go such kinda high temp i thk.. hmm.gif u use which software to take the reading, u make sure u try with diff software??
but tough to say too... 4000MHz u do.. shakehead.gif mayb need use WC kits... laugh.gif

personally la, for me i prefer the cooler which come with more heatpipe, or the bigger heat pipe..
for now: atleast 4x8mm heatpipe for tower cooler, atleast 5 or 6 heat pipe for low profile cooler.. biggrin.gif

core temperature taken with SpeedFan 4.37, Core Temp 0.99.3 and Real Temp 2.70.

Real Temp 2.7 with TJ Max = 95c is giving lower temp reading compare to the other 2

by the way default vcore is giving even higher temp sweat.gif

anyway is +-4c temp margin between side panel opened and closed an indication of poor ventilation?

here's how it looks like inside my casing, green arrow is how the air supposed to flow, bolder green arrow is CM so called 90CFM fan
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

any suggestion to improve the ventilation??
*
frm my view, ur cable management is ok oledi, will not much block any air flow, for intake cool air should be enuf oledi too..
the only thing is wat exhaust fan u use at the back? if u feel with ur hand at back side, how it feel??

prob:
my opinion is too much hot air trap inside ur case and make the air temp inside casing increase...

solution:
1. try with other high CMF fan as exhaust fan..
2. if still cnt improve, try re-mount ur cooler..

u mind to post ur internal casing photo view here?? (if posible, pls stated wat type casing fan u r using intake and exhaust too..)

mayb u can try with open casing, c either got improvement or nt...

if open case got improvement, mean ur internal air flow got big big prob.. the hot air always trap inside ur casing..

other thn that, u still need to check the way u apply TIM, this will classify in the way how u mounting ur cooler.. smile.gif

here's my case... its cap ayam (avf) casing.

red arrows are exhaust, green is intake. i know my cable management sucks, but because of the cap ayam casing im using, i've nowhere to hide all those cacings except putting them under the cdrom bay.

fan models are in my siggy unless its cap ayam one.

even with side panel off, there's not much difference with temperature drop. (cpu only drop 1 degree), wherelse mobo temp still same.

the way i applied tim is like the guide on how to apply tim on hdt as shown on the first page of this thread.

thanks!

ok bro..

now start with intake fan..
i not sure how well ur intake fan working.. do u fell the air blow strong for the intake fan?? if strong enuf thn should be ok for intake part..

**how should say strong or nt the air blow..?? mayb u can try on mid-high CMF fan, hv a feel by ur own hand on any 70 and above CMF fan air blow..
whn u r close side panel, intake fresh air ply important role for it.. but u mension even open casing the temp still the same, thn should not be the intake prob, i guess..

so next part come to exhaust part..
ur casing hv quite many exhaust fan, so if low CMF oso may will be ok, i thk....

the only critical part is ur cooler 92mm pull exhaust fan, will it hv a crash with ur 2x80mm fan?
coz it is mount at center of thm, i nvr try this b4, so i dunoe how well it working..

incase ur 2x80mm fan unable to pull all the hot air(frm 92mm fan) out, thn it will recycle inside ur casing..
so u can hv a try by ur hand at bside 2x80mm and 92mm(pull), c either got air blow out to side part or not...
if lot of air blowing to side, mean ur 2x80mm does not working well their job..

**pls upload ur temp ss here as reference...

now for the TIM apply part
i noe u will follow the step wat in the guide, so do u make sure oledi ur TIM apply's coverage area? do it cover all ur proc??
-for this u can check whn u apply it, aft u done clip/screw ur cooler, thn u try to take it out, so u can make sure ur TIM's coverage area,
if the coverage is ok, thn should not be a prob.. nod.gif

QUOTE(arct @ Dec 24 2008, 01:38 AM)
my front case fan is a high flow fan. according to specs, at 12v it could push 103cfm. but since its kinda loud i've mod it with 3 way switch so it could run at quieter 5v mode. i've tried with 12v and 5v during stress test. cpu temp wont change much but mobo temp will drop a one or couple degrees when running at 12v mode.

i tried with either one or both of my 80mm fans off. when either one or both of the 80mm fans are off, there's a noticable / feelable air pressure coming out from the side in between the 92mm and the 80mm fans. when both 80mm fans were on the effect is gone. so i guess the 2 fans are exhausting the way they should be.

i did remount my hsf again cuz i try to interhange the pwm connectors of my two 92mm fans. the tim was well covered as i can see (i did the proc size markings like the guide did too and the coverage is alright).

i guess in the end maybe my hsf isnt really that good afterall. (jeez, in frostytech the temp of this hsf is one of the top ten tho..) or maybe its my capalang casing.  cry.gif (which is another reason why i bought this hsf becaues it has lower profile... i couldnt buy any hsf higher than 150mm cuz my casing is very narrow...  sweat.gif   cry.gif )

will try to stress my comp tonight and record temps.

anyway thanks!  thumbup.gif   notworthy.gif
*

  • high CMF fan not mean it really can push such high CMF of air, it depent on ur casing, if ur casing dun hv such big hole for it, mean it still cnt push such high CMF even run at full speed, where it only end with noise, this u can try it out by take it out run at open space and inside casing.. if ur casing hv the hole for it, thn should be okie.
  • if both of 80mm fan working well, it should be alrite..
  • TIM oso covered well thumbup.gif
  • ur HSF not that good??
this i cnt ans u, coz u dun post any ss here, even idle temp, i noe ntg with ur cpu temp, no comment on it laugh.gif
  • top ten? this depend u view on which cooler, if u view on 964, thn the result was last time result, not the updated result, u need view on latest cooler, there u will noe the actual placement of 964.. wink.gif

**964 review result frm frostytech, for intel>> 150W is 18.8c above ambient temp, 85w is 11.6c above ambient.. OC will increase the TDP anyway..

btw, me oso using cheapo casing, so i'm thking wana upgrate my casing soon, grab CM690 mayb, good airflow.. brows.gif

but the thing is, it is no difference with my previously used stock xigmatek thermal paste and one push fan config. so financial wisely i just spent rm18 for tuniq tx2 and rm20 for the nmb 92mm fan.
*
bro.. ur result oledi good enuf... i tod ur result bad... sweat.gif sweat.gif like this tough to improve lo... ur pull fan CMF> push CMF? normally ppl use pull CMF> push CMF make it more effective cooling, and i nvr try on this, mayb u can try it out thumbup.gif
--------------------------------------
frm ur fan photo setting, nmb as pull config, it should be in higher cmf thn xigmatek push, so i oso no idea how come cnt improve, mayb that is ur cooler limit hmm.gif
if u hardworking, u take every thing out of casing, try it on open space, thn u will c wat happen actually.. smile.gif

Achilles dun come with double fan supported, but if u wana mount 1 more fan mayb js use cable tide , tide it on ur HSF laugh.gif as wat i test on the xigmatek AIO last time.. tongue.gif

for disamble ur fan, i dun own any HSF similar so i dunoe the corect way to take it off.. but due to my view on the photo, i dun saw any screw.. only the anti-vibration rubber, so i thk u js oni twis the rubber to horizontal, it should can take out oledi... if i'm wrong pls corect me laugh.gif

no idea with this, nvr try it... laugh.gif
but i thk will slightly effect the performance, but not much i thk, it is diff story if u paint its important part(HSF base/the fin and pipe contact surface)

other way is stain, i thk stain would be beter thn paint(eg: wat had done by DeepCool product, thy stain their cooper heatpipe for KW/IceBlade PRO)
