In my humble opinion, Kaspersky Antivirus Pro is the best AV in killing and protecting but it uses lots of resources sweat.gif By the way, NOD32 do a very good job in protecting and killing but it is unable as powerful as KAV Pro smile.gif

Please do correct me if I am wrong.

i agree with you totally on yhis. recently i install KAV personal pro 5. it is an excellent AV. i must say it's the best i've use in term of protection. but after awhile my kavsvc.exe keep on running at 100& cpu cycle. i dunno wat is happneing it sloooooows down my computer alot and i decided to uninstall it and use back my nod32.

but in term of protection kaspersky beats nod32 hands down IMO. but nod32 has a better protection/resources ratio. can't stand my pc so slow like kena some spyware when in fact it's my AV causing it smile.gif)

My defend rig:

1.NOD32 2.5
2.Look 'n' Stop
3.SpyDoctor ( the best spyware remover after the test by PC Magizine )

jz change from nod32 back to kaspersky. and guess what i've got 4 virus that my nod32 fail to check which my kaspersky did and i've alwiz make sure my nod32 is up to date.

nod32 is less resouce hogging then kaspersky but i think i'm gonna stick with kaspersky for the time being. i feel safer smile.gif

and jz to share with you guys i install the trial version fo kaspersky in my office and it mannage to weed out 7 virus that the avg fail to detect before this. so i'm pretty much convince that kaspersky has the best detection rate among all AV.
*
I am waiting for the final release of KAV6. It is no longer a resources hog. It's detection capability is stronger but uses less resources, cool? thumbup.gif

try this out peeps. got from a chinese forum

type this into your notepad and save it as txt file.

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

it's suppose to see wheter your AV is effective or not. my kaspersky 5 manage to detect it within 5 second after i save it and deleted it.
*
NOD32 manage to detect it after I saved it biggrin.gif . It has been moved to quarantine.

Has anyone tested it?
No lagging, but wonder if the detection is good.

Geez. Already tested?
How suck it is compared to others?
*
I was using it last year( maybe it has been imporved ), many viruses ( about 10 is unable to be detected by it but NOD32 was able to. I think Kaspersky is even better. )

Just my opinion, you may have to test it yourself. smile.gif

I think Kaspersky didn't send them the or allow them to test it. I don't think this review is able to tell you that the pros and con of the AV because they judge the AV through functions only.

Hello guys, just some update my earlier post about the BitDefender Pro installed .. I had uninstall the BitDefender and switch back to Norton SystemWorks 2005. it works perfectly with BitComet and the IE explorer will never get freeze too, so i think the best is still Norton, just my 2 cents smile.gif
*
Have you tried NOD32? They are giving away 1 year free license, I have one.. laugh.gif

Hi,

I just finish scanning my hdd for virus and the software that  I tried (Fix-It 6 AV) found one virus but didnt manage to get rid of it. But instead the infected filed has been quarantined.

What should I do with the file? (it's a msdirectx.sys file)
should I just let the file like that or completely replace it?

Thanks in advance
*
Just leave it there. smile.gif

Is it advisable to install 2 antivirus into my system? Norton and Kasperky. Any  comment b4 I do so? Will it be any system conflict or antivirus conflict?
*
You better don't do that, your system will be crashed. If it doesn't happen, your ram will be sucked a lot.

I think ad-aware should be more effective in scanning spyware than NOD32 does...

Unless you're using Ad-aware PRO that has ad-watch, otherwise it doesn't consume any memory if you're not scanning the spyware.
*
I agree with you, we must have another spyware cleaner because the AV is just not enough. Anyone can recommend a good spyware killer with real time protection but just using a little of resources?
