What browser are you using?
No other browser than Internet Explorer supports ActiveX

And if you're already using IE, make sure that it is not disabled

Pretty agree that AVG is not as effecient as it supposed to be
But I don't really like Avast coz sometimes it affects my P2P activities

Will stick with antivir for time being

Guys, i juz wanna ask, i'd read a mag "CHIP" March issue. They awarded BitDefender with Best Performance and Best Value. And it uses 30mb of ram only. Norton InternetSecurity 2005 uses 50mb of ram. My question is, which is the best Anti-Virus software to prevent my machine from viruses?? BitDefender?? Norton?? Or any others??? Pls gimme some opinion, thx guys.  thumbup.gif

30MB? That's a lot...
My Antivir only uses around 10, and I feel quite secure using it too, despite the download size of each update is unreasonably big

Free Download Manager installation file is detected by my Antivir...

Anyone else is using free download manager? mind doing me a favour to scan it with your antivirus?

Antivir has been effective in detecting virus/trojan, but I don't believe that Free Download Manager contains virus...

From my experience, for free AV, AVG protection is worse than Antivir and Avast.

@Pdot, For antivir, what do you mean by "tat program did even recognize by window protection"? Sometimes the server cannot be connected, most of the time it's okay for me

y u said AVG protection is worse than others?
i remember read a review b4 that AVG and Avast offer good protection among the free anitivirus..
and AntiVir is slightly worse than AVG and Avast...
For me I prefer AVG smile.gif
*
AVG free failed to detect virus in several occasions where antivir could
And when I did a scan on a virus archive antivur detection rate is higher as well...

Please stop giving "I am using <antivirus name>, so far so good" comments to increase post counts... State why you think the antivirus you're using now is good. rolleyes.gif

Maybe you don't really need Adaware coz NOD32 is good enough in protecting you from Spyware, well, you don't wanna burden your memory with other things smile.gif
*

.
I think ad-aware should be more effective in scanning spyware than NOD32 does...

Unless you're using Ad-aware PRO that has ad-watch, otherwise it doesn't consume any memory if you're not scanning the spyware.

Wait, you're looking for Antivirus that is compatible with Windows XP 64 or Antivirus that is designed for WinXP 64 architecture?

Both of them do have differences.

It's not a very hard decision to choose an Antivirus, everyone has their own opinion and why bother what others said? try it out yourself

Start with freeware first, if you are a home user and use the Internet with some common sense, it should be sufficient.

I've been using Antivir for quite some times (now using the beta 7) and can't really remember when was the lastime my PC infected by virus. It's not easy to get infected by virus unless you always get files from untrusted source or visit malicious sites.

Currently, I'm using Norton Internet Security 2006. The only reason I'm using it is because it has a 'Parental Control' function which filters inappropriate web sites. Besides NIS 2006, which softwares offer the same function? Thanks. smile.gif

PS: I'm trying to get rid of NIS because it slows down my computer and my surfing speed. I'm thinking of installing avast! Home Edition and ZoneAlarm. Is it a good combo? Of course, I still need a web filtering software but couldn't think of any except NIS.
*
Antivirus usually just help detect viruses and clean it.
It's unusual to find another antivirus that provides parental control unless it's full package like NIS 2006.

Why not find another parental control software like Net Nanny to do it?
