QUOTE(JonSpark @ Sep 3 2008, 04:56 PM) Post-Metal Shoegazing? WTF?From wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_metal Post-metal is a music genre, a mixture between the genres of post-rock and heavy metal, with roots in progressive rock, progressive metal, shoegazing, and industrial music. It is broadly characterized by distorted guitar, heavy atmospherics, gradual evolution of song structure, and a minimal emphasis on vocals. ok this new subgenre is really new to me Post-metal is a glorified term for instrumental wankery. But having said that, I quite enjoy a few mainly Pelican as they're the most "metal". |

Actually, the new Slipknot is more metal than the previous albums. I'm too lazy to write an essay but the short story is this:
It's definitely the most metal-sounding Slipknot, but overall, it's a more varied, more evenly spaced album, so I guess that's the reason why people are somewhat confused, and that they think less fast songs = not metal. |

Dino Cazares and an 8stringer? Hmm, video proof, someone? As far as I know, only the guys from Meshuggah and Rusty Cooley have used 8-string guitars.

Of all the German thrash acts, Sodom has always been the lowest in my book.
Kreator's Pleasure To Kill slaughters anything Sodom has done. EDIT: Thanks @ JonSpark. Give me Fear Factory material any day, though. This post has been edited by mcbarney666: Sep 16 2008, 01:46 PM |

Honestly, I never thought Chuck Schuldiner was a great singer or a great soloer either. His vocals and solos just don't do anything for me.
I do think he was a great songwriter, though. Albums like Human, Individual Thought Patters are awesome. |

Couldn't get into Control Denied stuff. Not my cup of metallic tea! QUOTE(syahirax @ Sep 24 2008, 09:43 AM) Ugh. Tried getting into this band but was turned off by the, to me, directionless music. Gimme atmospheric BM ala Enslaved any day. |

New Napalm Death = Awesome.
New Trivium = Hate the vocals, music's pretty okay. Cradle of Filth never considered themselves as black metal, anyway. They always preferred to be called extreme metal. |

Isn't this the most badass cover, ever?
![]() Can't wait for this beast to arrive! Though, I must say that the cover is teh brutalz. Hopefully the moral guardians of ours are conveniently myopic when reviewing this. |

QUOTE(ghoster @ Mar 12 2009, 10:19 PM) Calling Quorthon a piece of shit is akin to having your balls targeted for destruction. I may not enjoy his stuff but without his contribution your beloved metalcore nonsense wouldn't exist. Learn your metal history first before shooting off. |
