northbridge 8 better but more expansive. Changing any stock heatsink will void warranty for sure. But ppl change back to stock cooler and send for RMA. Unless u oc, else no nid add fan to them.

Added on April 20, 2009, 10:03 pmnow my norbridge goes up to 90C without fan with stock heatsink. Now no money to change heatsink so I added a 70mm to help cooling down. it is around 50-60C on idle now. I never oc but the intergrated graphic is generating a lot of heat. previous i use graphic card never got overheat problem but now must use fan or else hang very often.

You have to grind the edge of the "H" steel bracket a little to get it fitted cause the mosfet heatsink is blocking

i happen to use deepcool killer whale on Gigabyte EP45-UD3P, when i align the "H" bracket to the 4 point mounting holes during installation i found out that the mosfet heatsink is blocking approx. 0.4mm, so i grind off approx. 0.4mm on the two round edges of the "H" bracket to get a perfect alignment. Not such a big deal for me though, performance wise is impressive, E8400@4.00 clock speed running on 1.36Vcore with idle temp of 32c and load temp via linx around 60c.

Hi xxx,

Thanks for your good suggestion on H plate problem on December 16, 2008.  After spend some time to

design and test mould. We decide to update the H plate of Ice blade Pro, Killer whale and Ice wing 5 Pro

as attached. It divide to two parts of Intel and AMD is separated.  How do you think of it?

If you have any questions, pls feel free to let me know.

The H plate design u posted will definitely fit without problems smile.gif if they do replace them, the one i have needs grinding though because its a 2 in 1 bracket (LGA775+AM2 combination).
