QUOTE(mizivincible @ Sep 9 2008, 05:22 AM) Wanna ask sifu sekalian regarding night scene shot. Seems like the result wasnt satisfying, altho I shame to upload it here, but I guess its best to ask sifu what's wrong with it. first shot over exposed, 2nd shot aperture too big KL Night Shot - » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

yup...a better filter will be thinner thus reducing the chances of flare... if you wan optimum results then of cuz take off yr filter lar but not really necessary in most of the cases...

QUOTE(edministrator @ Sep 9 2008, 09:40 PM) does the flare happens with all UV filters or just higher chances of catching flares on cheapo filters? I have a HOYA Pro1 Digital UV filter and yet to experience flare with it. higher chance... |

QUOTE(ebernie @ Sep 11 2008, 08:44 PM) Guys, let's lay off the gear wars. I wonder though, if sharpness is the only way to show good picture is, then that tells me a lot about it. Sharpness only says that the gear is good, nothing about the photog or the pic. Another point to remember, a lot of ground breaking shots were taken back in the 60s & 70s. Those were not pin-sharp. If anything, they are noisy and blurry but their other qualities outshone these issues. But I guess everyone has their own opinion about photography. |

QUOTE(ebernie @ Sep 11 2008, 11:50 PM) Well, yeah, they didn't have what we have today. But it still does not change the fact that the photos looks much better than what we churn out by the dozens everyday. to simplify it:What's better? Frankly, I think it's the attention to detail, the thought that is put into each photo, the planning that goes into each of them. Sometimes it's the fact that they were brave enough to be there to take pictures (world war pictures for example). But ultimately I think it was because each photo had a story to tell, and they told the story really well. But really, I can't do justice explaining the pictures. Heck, I can't even remember the names of all the photographers I think highly off. They definitely did not: 1. Keep on snapping pictures of girls 2. Keep on showing off the lens' bokeh by shooting mundane stuff "technology has spoilt us" |

QUOTE(zio @ Sep 12 2008, 01:32 AM) QUOTE(KTCY @ Sep 12 2008, 11:29 AM) My previous post stated SB-800 more powerful than SB-900 la. Read properly. O.o where can you get so cheap? its selling 1.3k at kuching Even though SB-900 can reach 200mm but comparing the power, it's weaker compare to SB-800. This discussion has been brought up at PhotoMalaysia I get my SB-800 below RM 1,000 |

QUOTE(zio @ Sep 12 2008, 01:02 PM) Thanks yup..that shot is much nicer...you can tell a story with that pic... like how chaotic the background while the motorcyclist is putting everything behind him and in his own world bla bla bla...very nice Woot i got a compliment. Terima kasih. I don't mind another 105mm lens wahahaha Ooo the motor apek? Hrmm true. Would this have been a better photo to express the motorcycle-cabs? ![]() Hrmm I notice that Flickr has been degrading my pics whenever they resize it to 800. Should I do it myself and then upload to Flickr? QUOTE(ifer @ Sep 13 2008, 08:54 AM) i think someone is 'sour grapes' of other someone who can afford awesome equipments. actually... my interpretation of what joseph is trying to say it that yr nor maximising/fully utilizing yr gears that other peole dun have so he wants you to appreciate it... but then... since you stated in the later posts that you just took up photography for fun and because you bought it because you just liked and can afford it, then i guess theres nothing more to argue about...i think this other someone need to grow up |
