QUOTE(april @ Apr 3 2009, 11:08 AM) D40 Kit lens IS an AF-S lens... look at the label.Don't you think Nikon will be shooting themselves in the kneecaps if they gave the D40 a kit lens that didn't allow it to autofocus? If you use a non-AF-S lens on the D40/X/60, it *might* be inconvenient, but it depends on the individual. Some people swear by manual focusing... so they might actually get turned on doing that on the D40. |

QUOTE(ellist @ Apr 3 2009, 06:22 PM) Hey all frens there..I wanted to add a SB600 flash, but the current price already shoot up to rm800-850...is it a good time to buy or wait? Never ask the question "Is it a good time to buy or wait".Instead ask yourself the question... "Can you wait?" If I tell you that it's a good time to buy, and you buy now, but keep the flash in one corner gathering cobwebs, what's the point? So rich buy for fun? If you need to use the flash tomorrow and for the next few weeks... and yet you still choose to wait over this little bit of extra cost... don't you think you're being foolish? |

QUOTE(loon1031 @ Apr 7 2009, 08:08 AM) 1000D will automatic adjust the shutter speed.. but D60/D40 ~ user can manually control it. Errrrr... me thinks your friend needs to read the camera manual a little bit more. That is my 1000D friend complaint. Maybe your friend's 1000D is a revolutionary 1000D Mk II model.... that doesn't come with a Manual mode. |

Pfff.... as if we're gonna shed tears over one less Nikon user. As if Nikon's gonna close their doors just because an independent forum failed to provide enough support to a potential customer. None of us earn commissions through our answers and we're all doing this for the fun of it and to help one another. If you wanna waltz in here like some queen and demand answers in a particular timeframe I suggest you take out your big fat wallet and put your money where your demands are.... then maybe I might *consider* replying if you tempt me enough. |

QUOTE(alpha_company @ Apr 15 2009, 02:54 PM) thanks for the info I might be aging more than I originally thought... but didn't you already buy the Alpha, and proclaimed so loudly only a couple o pages back?btw, someone advised me to get a wide angled and wide aperture lens so that i can take pics in wide angled but most importantly i can do so in low light/ indoors. f4 is not wide aperture right? got something like f2.8 wide angled lens? i wanna take wedding pics and need help guys.. what model/brand lenses should i get. 55-200 i got already. QUOTE(alpha_company @ Apr 11 2009, 07:32 AM) nevermind..taking A series anyways.. If you have indeed bought the D60, grats on your purchase. I'm not gonna be nasty about it but I would advise that being humble in your comments don't hurt, especially if you're new to a group.Wedding pics... get the 17-50mm f2.8 Tamron, and get yourself a good flash SB-600 or some Nissin. 55-200 isn't necessary unless you're not the main photographer and have trouble getting into prime spots. QUOTE(alpha_company @ Apr 15 2009, 03:26 PM) yeah i've got d60 because of the lighter weight and better feel in my hands. Yeah find the model with the built in motor... last time I checked before the price increase it's RM 1350 for a grey set. 17-50mm f2.8 has a af-s motor right? rm1.x k? nissin what model? No idea on the Nissin flashes... gotta get someone else's opinion on that one but the SB-600 will do fine though might be slightly more expensive. |

QUOTE(alpha_company @ Apr 16 2009, 10:30 AM) wanna ask...is this lens out yet? it's a cheap 35mm prime but is it needed for wedding type pics? There is no single perfect lens that captures perfect wedding photos.AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Just like your decision to buy the D60 instead of the Alpha. You HAVE to go out there and shoot and learn your own style, your own needs. There's no shortcut. I can give the 35mm f1.8 to Zio and I bet you he can produce great results cause his style is shooting with primes. So until you go out there and actually shoot something, you're gonna be bouncing around the walls trying to nitpick on 1,000,000 lenses... all of which would most probably produce the same results cause they would all be shot by the same photographer - YOU! |

QUOTE(fuzzywc @ Apr 28 2009, 08:19 PM) newbie here... The best way of learning is on-the-job-training and experience from shooting more.my brother left his spare camera at hom.. its a nikon d60 af-s nikkor 18-55mm vr been reading this thread for 30 mins , but i cant understand a word u guys r saying... hahaha... sorry for the "newbishness"... but im interested in learning evrything about my d60... saw sum pics taken by u guys... amazing pics!! wer n how can i learn 2 snap nice quality pictures? any tutorial or books??? I can force feed you a million books and you still won't know what the terminologies are or how to apply them. I can give you the "best" lenses, "best" camera bodies and you still won't know how to use them. So grab the camera, go out, shoot in auto, shoot in scene modes, download your photos... take a look at them and be VERY critical in your judgement. Ask yourself what you like about that photo and why, or what you dislike about that photo. If you need some help in judging the shot, post it so we can critique but be prepared to receive harsh critiques and learn from it, or be prepared to defend your technique. A, P, S, M modes, shutter speeds, bokeh, aperture, CLS, bracketing, HDR... all these ADD value to the shot, but if your basics are wrong - framing a photo, angle.... applying super bokeh, HDR etc won't be worth crap. That all being said, there are many people who are very happy with brainless point and shoot shots... they dislike having to think, plan before taking a shot and just enjoy shooting whatever they like. At the end of the day, as long as it floats your boat. |

QUOTE(fuzzywc @ Apr 29 2009, 03:04 PM) okok.... #1 - I'm attracted to the reflections off the car body. Perhaps angling it better would bring out that more. The building behind certainly isn't that interesting.attached sum pics i recently took in a car show... plss comment!!! Thanks evry1 for the feedback!! #2 - I like the idea, but you chopped away the wheel and part of the rims. Plus the rims are underexposed relative to the sun. Which makes the shot rather unattractive. #3 - It's a shot of a car in the middle of a parking lot. #4 - It's a shot of a car by the road. #5 - Last photo has the most promise. Adjust your aperture so that the "Porche" word is sharp as well. Maybe frame the shot to have the front grill + logo... the hood and windscreen might not be necessary. Overall, the shots are fine it you just started photography... lots of room for improvement by means of angles, lighting and composition though. |
