I think the real situation is: PAS Youth calls for ban on Avril Lavigne. The government (UMNO) people take advantage of this by actually banning her, making the blame fall on PAS. Which means this is done for a political reason.

I remember seeing P Ramlee movies and malay movies in the Golden Days where ladies wearing sexy sarung and even bikinis .. kissing scene also allow.

if Avril is too sexy and portraying a bad image why do they even bother to allow everything else that is potentially sexy like clothes.. lingerie... tv shows... beauty pageants... swimming pools.. beaches....music videos... books... clubs... they should ban Sari too since it exposes the midriff.
here's a suggestion: how about cutting off the country and its nation entirely from the outside world... don't allow internet and any other media. oh! and only allow the people to wear fully covered clothes. We could just be the next North Korea! yay!  really effed up and nothing better to do, for goodness sake. They wanna encourage the youth well this is an EXCELLENT gesture to make the youth turn against them. |

I been to many concerts in Genting...mostly Chinese artists. They do wearing sexy too during the concert and not get ban so next time it is good for western artists to have concert up there....no one will kacau... you see MTV Asia Awards? Why can held up there? |

The organisers are expected to meet officials of the Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry today. “We are optimistic that the ministry officials will listen to our appeals as there is support for the concert,” a spokesman said. It is understood that no official notice has been sent to the organisers, Galaxy Productions, on the status of the concert despite media reports that it has been called off. Minister Datuk Shafie Apdal said the application to hold the concert was rejected as they did not want it to coincide with the Merdeka period and the tahlil religious programme on Aug 29. “We don’t want the day to be filled with such pop and rock culture. We should be instilling a good culture in the young but here we are allowing other parties to organise things,” he said after launching the book IDeAS for enhancing Integrity yesterday. “All organisers, local and foreign, should adhere to the rules and regulations before promoting the concert and selling tickets to the public,” he said, adding that the organisers should consult the relevant authorities.
