QUOTE(MobiusVyper @ Sep 21 2008, 06:47 PM) Hey guys, new undergrad student here. 1st year CS + Management course. Just want to ask a few questions about the internet service for those who are already using it. I'm staying at Edu Square and as far as I've seen, the only way to get internet is through the Extreme BB wireless service or Maxis/Celcom wireless. How is the service quality of Extreme BB? Is p2p blocked? Because I've heard some people say it is but others say it isn't. I am aware that the campus free wireless does block p2p but what about Extreme BB? Also is anyone using Maxis/Celcom wireless broadband? I'm thinking if Extreme BB sucks and blocks p2p, I might as well get Maxis/Celcom (leaning more towards Maxis since i've heard Celcom has no coverage down in Semenyih) wireless. Thanks in advance If all else is no good, maybe DiGi EDGE will work.. I tried Celcom over at TTS, it does work but it's pointless: dc frequently, and extremely slow at times In fact i've tried it in Cheras, Damansara and Klang. Same results.. Added on September 21, 2008, 8:03 pmDiGi's coverage is not quite good at the palm oil plantation yet..haha Sometimes I gotta get out of the building to make calls. Not so frequent with maxis though.
Hopefully they widen their coverage soon..

QUOTE(laughing_tomato @ Sep 21 2008, 10:24 PM) I am now in EDU Square also.. Using Celcom Broadband. Although its just the 384kbps plan. Its quite fast here. I can pick up 3G signal here. No DC also.. You got a course mate living here also! Jaden.. He is using Maxis Broadband, its only GPRS speed... Okay since he's using, take his advice then. If cannot work then ask him to pay back.

Since i got my laptop, I seldom used tiscra, they were too slow. Nowadays a basic laptop costs about rm1700 to RM1900 only. Worthwhile to get one, saves you all the hassle.

QUOTE(pekies @ Sep 23 2008, 02:20 PM) The word negro shouldnt be used anymore in our generation. In the past, it was used as racist slur for African slaves in America and are deemed offensive and demeaning. I think the actual word was nigga rite..? Not sure how negro came about..

QUOTE(innocent90 @ Sep 23 2008, 09:05 PM) oh..sorry,i didn't know..hope u guys are not offended.. Â nah.. i dun think those who're open minded will mind it.. as long as u don't go calling them that taunting them of their dark history over at the US.. although in was used in the US as a term for african slave.. i tried looking up it's origins and the word came from latin: niger, or spanish: negro. both meaning black. hmm so usually they're called the blacks too. sounds familiar? : a black man 6ft tall and well built. seriously i have no idea if the above will be 'fired' at.. haha correct me if there's any misinformation This post has been edited by entryman: Sep 23 2008, 09:12 PM

hmm in the future it will be more crowded i guess, when the areas around broga develops..
last time i remember on some days the road actually has many cars + huge trucks.. quite dangerous oso, I nearly collided head-on with an oncoming car that was going around 100, which had insufficient power to quickly overtake a long truck. I saw it at the last few moments and managed to swerved aside just in time.

I plan to join a few clubs & societies, and apply to be part of their committee.
Just would like to know, how does it actually work, and what are the frequency of elections?

Will consider then. Back to uni soon. Miss uni life. Hey anyone know about the 2nd Year Student Exchange program? It's a choice between UK and Ningbo. Is everyone eligible to take part, or is it only for a select few? This post has been edited by entryman: Sep 28 2008, 12:07 PM
