starhub had implemented "internet shaping" long time ago. you can only surf certain websites at advertised speed, while most downloads will be capped to slow speed at peak hours. you can bypass by using encryptions and hit 300kbps; but bear in mind you're also sharing the 8mbps tube with thousands of other ppl. so during peak hours, most likely your donwloads will be limited to half the speed.

*i'm using starhub 8mbps and facing the same situation. encryption is the way to go.

SG is in a recession now. Certain sectors are hit badly and are retrenching instead of hiring. But as you flip through the recruitment newspaper, there are still many other job vacancies. You just have to be less choosy and pray for your luck.

encryption is only for BT. i suggest you opt for VPN for your HTTP dl needs.

I usually get from the 707 bus company in Bugis. Unfortunately, tickets were sold out 3 weeks ago. I was the last few who manage to get tickets back. crapp0, did you try the bus company in Lavender? I am not so sure if they still have tickets available for sale. Keep your fingers crossed.

Alternatively, you can travel to Johore and get your tickets there. I got my ticket to Malacca from Larkin at RM20 as bus ticket from Singapore to Malacca on 5th December were sold out.

Do not worry as there is somehow a way to go back Malacca but you might need to spend some additional money and time.

i think you should get either singtel or starhub.
2mbps speed is enough for your daily use.
since you wont use it for torrent, 50gb data limit for singtel wont be an issue.
better stay away from m1, i heard lotsa complaints from users.

Never go to Sim Lim Square for consoles, especially the shops near to the ground floor.

My friend also got the same problem, he can only play online game after 1am.

i have 2mbps starhub mxmobile and the  1mbps (50gb) singtel as well but for some reason i get disconnected a lot at peak hours (thats for Starhub). I play a lot of COD4 on it and getting pings like 150-200ms and ya i know its pretty crap. But if u are playing games like WOW or DOTA i guess there is no worry about it. For Singtel i use it for my 3G phone outdoors but sometimes i use the phone as modem whenever the starhub mobile screws me up. Overall the stability is better but i cant seem to get it to play a game on pc when i use the phone as the modem. So i am guessing the ping is about 100ms. BTW i stay in the north east.

currently waiting for my m1 mobile contract to end n sign on singtel m1 totally suck a small island also cant cover properly msia so damn big celcom digi n maxis can almost cover all really dumb service provider

i also think so must be ppl torrenting none stop or another thing is ppl stealing ur connection if router not enrypted. Speaking of router maybe u still using 80211b version thats why speed so slow.
Bcoz if i remeber last time i used to have the 6mbps and at midnights and i get like constant 1.2mbps using RS
