is it okay to download torrents in sg?
eg. downloading US tv series?

yea, i know rapidshare or megaupload will be way faster.. but where can we find TV series with those download links?
n btw, i was asking about the legal issue.. is it okay to torrent in this strict country?
*
well... there's plenty of those websites out there. u'll know what to do if u interest to know abt it. tongue.gif

as for the torrents, i believe its like many other places : bt itself is not illegal, its the things that u download that matters. according to my friends, casual BT is ok (not like 24-7 of coz), juz dont go n distribute it around. biggrin.gif

Ya.. It's stated on the extract application form. There is some agen at the JPJ saying that they can make both SG & MY license alive. They say once converted, if we accident in MY with SG license, the insurances won cover. But I think they are just bluffing.
*
lol ok, myab they not bluffing, i guess thats what my fren told me, u can chia them drink kopi to do so. biggrin.gif

most of the job agency i encounter here doesn't charge any fee, but they need u to sign some agreement that say u cant quit the job for a certain period like 3 months if they found 1 for u n u accept it. if u break that agreement u gonna pay an amount of penalty to them.

also heard b4 that got some headhunters will take ur 1st month salary (in FULL !), not too sure true or not though.

like being pointed out quite many times, its all depends on how u spend ur earnings. biggrin.gif

u'll be amazed to know how much 1 of my fren can save up by the salary of 1.8k in 1 year.

But that is offset by purchasing spree. Donno why some ppl buy car in malaysia when they staying in singapore. Purchase a liability which they dont use very often.

At least a house is understandable. Hopefully next year when the prices of HDB goes down, maybe looking for a HDB to invest in.
*
well if its buy for the family to use its understandable. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(seantang @ Jan 8 2009, 11:58 PM)
Singapore doesn't tax any non-prohibited products brought into Singapore for personal use. It does however prohibit the commercial import of any product without going through the proper importation channels & procedures.

For foodstuffs etc, personal use is defined by weight &/or value.

For non-organic things like electronics, usually 1 or 2 items are quite reasonable for personal use. For eg. if you buy a couple PS3 and carry it back into Singapore. But if you're talking 5 or 6 etc... then there is cause to believe you are importing commercially.

If you're still fearful, just open up the box, reseal it yourself and if in the unlikely event that you're stopped by customs, say it's a used item you're moving from your home in Malaysia to Singapore.
*
ok cool. thx for the info. smile.gif

hi all..

i wan to ask those who are working in Singapore now about somethings.. i want to so Singapore to work so what is the things that i need to prepare?what is the requirement over there? i wan to choose job is related to IT.. How long u all spend on finding work over there?
*
there's no specific requirement to work here. as long as u got a job offer n the company apply the work pass for u, thats it.

my experience is that it would be easier if u hav a sg tel number.
