QUOTE(.:himawari:. @ Mar 27 2009, 11:30 AM) enn...i guess so...anyway i'll see how it is this week. btw...what are the laundry charges in singapore? i mean the dhoby..err not dhoby ghaut >_<|| Very expensive. I think it's a few bucks per kg for washing, and another few dollars per piece for ironing. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember taking one look at the price list when I got here a few years back, and then heading straight to the supermarket to buy laundry detergent.

QUOTE(washabushi @ Mar 28 2009, 12:27 PM) i'm not sure izzit open for public... but for sure my fren wasnt one of them Probably the same concept as the foodcourt beneath Singpower before they sold the building. The rent was subsidised by Singpower in return for discounts for Singpower staff, but the folks manning the stalls rarely checked for staff id.

I think the ratio of (Malaysians in senior positions in Singapore / All Malaysians in Singapore) is higher than (Malaysians in senior positions in Malaysia / All Malaysians in Malaysia).
In fact, I reckon (Malaysians in senior positions in Singapore / All Malaysians in Singapore) is higher than (Singaporeans in senior positions in Singapore / All Singaporeans in Singapore).

Since AirAsia cancelled the Ipoh-JB flight, my only option is the coach. Praying hard that Firefly's Ipoh-Sg route will not become a political victim.

QUOTE(WyjSwmW @ Apr 2 2009, 01:43 AM) Hai, reminder:-
It's time to submit ur annual personal income tax... It's time to pay to Spore government.. Mine's being auto-submitted ie. exempted from manual submission (in Sg, this means clicking "submit" on the tax website) because my return's quite simple. QUOTE(tuckparadise @ Apr 8 2009, 04:02 AM) if this is possible, i am guessing that the cost of living if someone works in SIN and staying in JB should be cheaper than those who works and stay in SIN? then why some people choose to stay in SIN? Because they don't like going through customs and commuting 3 hours each day? And JB is not exactly the most desirable place to stay.

I don't think I can save much living in JB cos I don't spend much anyway. At most, I'd probably save half my rental only. Food... can't save much for one person only, and besides JB isn't that cheap to begin with. And there will be the additional cost of owning a Sg car as I cannot imagine taking public transport from JB to Sg every day.
So, unless owning a Sg car + losing 2-3 hours of sleep each day is better than paying a few hundred S$ more rental... it's damn not worth it.
And that's before considering the fact that JB is not a very nice place to live. I've been there for day trips & short stays, and frankly, I feel a bit like I'm in Jakarta, Bangkok or Manila. I feel like an outsider, everybody's staring at the waterfish and never know when someone might just walk up and pull out a knife. KL, Pg or Ipoh feel much, much more hospitable.

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Apr 9 2009, 07:03 PM) i won't even do 12 hours for 4-5k a month. The last time I did 12hours was probably a couple of years back for 1 1/2 months when there's some urgent job to be done. If i'm not mistaken it was something closed to 15k per month. S$15K is a lot of salary, man... even if you need to work 12 hour days.

QUOTE(Elvinkun @ Apr 9 2009, 07:36 PM) Has/is anyone working as a police officer @ singapore?
I would like to share how is life working as one over there. I send my resuime and it was accepted. Before I even start going over..I would like to hear, so I could be ready for how is this gonna change my life. Quite a good job. Almost 3K per month including allowances if you join with a 1st class honours. One of classmates was an ASP in Sg, when he was 25 or 26. Pretty good job. Singapore's civil service promotes young people very fast if you're good. The IGP, Chiefs of the various arms of the armed forces and many Directors of govt depts are only 40-something. If you're lucky enough to be selected for their elite Administrative Service after 8 years in the civil service (ie. at 30-32 years old), your starting pay (SR9 salary grade) is S$370,000 per year.

QUOTE(Elvinkun @ Apr 11 2009, 07:21 PM) Serious?...I want to go there...since najib is on board now. You realised I mentioned "if you are good", right? There are a lot of people who are not good enough, and Singapore is ruthless when dealing with the mediocre. If I remember correctly, there are only 300-400 people in the Administrative Service. Good luck anyway, and welcome to Singapore.
