Hey guys, I have alot of trouble sleeping for the past few years. I heard about melatonin and heard that its good. I'm sure we all know already the details about metalonin. But where can I get melatonin in Malaysia? I saw some ppl here say that they use GNC Melatonin? I called up GNC they say in Malaysia they cannot bring it in because of the Malaysian drug regulations not permitting entry for melatonin in Malaysia. GNC Malaysia promoted other sleeping products to me such as the GNC sleeping formula and some herbal root medicine, was wondering if that works good. I only trust melatonin for the time being cuz I heard about the safeness of it.

Melatonin and DHEA are banned in Malaysia. Try Weider. They did sell but not sure now. They were raided by the dumb MOH lately.

Its funny how in US u can buy them over the counter. I have went to a few doctors already, other pills doesnt work after i stop using them, my sleep goes back to like before. My sleep is only good when I used them. Plus those other pills quite dangerous if used more than prescribed, i saw one of the pills i took is listed in what Heath Ledger took also *gulp*.

Can help me ? thanks. PM me when u got info. ask his dad about the safeness etc. I already went to several doctors and tried pills like alprazolam, works but only when I used them, after that, sleep goes back haywire.

Try B'young by zhulian..its not melatonin per se but its supposed to provide precursors for melatonin that will encourage production.. My friend takes this and she said that it really helps her sleep well. I wanna try it but I can afford it. A box for a month sets u back about rm600.. But i think its safer than consuming melatonin cause i heard there has been concerns regarding its safety..

Melatonin's pretty impossible to find here--I've been looking for the past three years or so. I kind of miss being able to get sleep aids like Sominex. Or NyQuil, even. Ridiculous. (I have terrible insomnia.)

Why do you have trouble sleeping? is it because of you having abnormal sleep pattern like sleeping too much in the afternoon? See a doctor first, get a few sleeping pills to help you to get back to normal sleeping pattern. Depending on drugs to help you to sleep is bad for long term.

Vitamin B6 is important in the synthesis of melatonin, or you can also try to buy some natural products like Valerian and Chamomile from pharmacy.

there are a lot of other way to treat insomnia besides melantonin n other benzodiazepines...
just try change you sleeping habits then you should be okay

why risk to use something that can gives you more side effects than benefits?...

I got a big bottles of melantonin and DHEA at supermarkets last trip to USA, dirt cheap. If you know anyone traveling there, strong vitamins are one of the most worthwhile shopping items!

I very occasionally take 3mg Mel and it very mildly makes me sleep, like having a beer. Maybe I should try two tabs since I see a lot of people say they take 6 mg. I seem to feel sleepy longer in the day afterwards though, right into the afternoon. It's not a deprived of sleep feeling, just a slight blur.

@sushi Do you have DHEA as well?

There are some herbs like valerian which are supposed to promote sleep. But I find they are not as effective as melatonin.

In case anyone is interested, they're having a sale at Weider B.Bintang but only for the 1.25kg rubberised olympic barbell plates.
It's only RM10 each, I got 2 for myself.

I ordered from iherb.com (USA), no probs delivering them into malaysia.

Not sure they really work all that well though..if you're struggling with sleep there are some other ways to deal with it. Try turning all the lights off in your place 1 hour before you sleep, so your brain knows its time to sleep and will start producing melatonin naturally. Also if you're stressed out try some yoga or meditation. Lots of different ways you can slow your brain down. Also plenty of exercise and eating well, all of those things help you sleep better.

The thread was started way back in 2008, and from what I understand, the Malaysian authority has banned it in Malaysia?

Fast forward 5 years later; has it changed?
Or is it still banned?

From the look of things, I think it is still banned,
as finding melatonin in leading pharmacy is futile..

try to get melatonin from iherb.com....
http://www.iherb.com/search?kw=melatonin&x...=1&rcode=gtj907
u can try brands like natrol, jarrow's formula or source naturals...
cant find in msian pharmacy...
first time purchasers, just key in discount code GTJ907 for US$10 discount (above US$40) otherwise will be US$5 discount...

meanwhile, maybe can try to drink tea like camomile, peppermint, st john's wort tea before sleep...
caffeine-free...
http://www.iherb.com/yogi-tea-st-john-s-wo...18?rcode=gtj907

also, you might wanna look up on the post above, stating that melatonin is banned in msia...
better be safe... consult a doc... see what they say... whether melatonin is good for u...

LIke some of the other users related, you'd develop tolerance to melatonin
after some time.

You could try some of the sleep formulas from Iherb or elsewhere typically
containing :

Valerian
Passion lflower
Hops
Scuillcap
Chamomile
Magnesium
Calcium
L-theanine

Many also include melatonin, so try not to choose those.

Here's a cheap one :

http://www.iherb.com/FutureBiotics-Relax-S...eggie-Tabs/7309

Cozy, relaxing teas, very cheap.

http://www.iherb.com/Triple-Leaf-Tea-Relax...4-oz-40-g/12130

http://www.iherb.com/Traditional-Medicinal...85-oz-24-g/6802

Twenty-first Century has one such formulation which has been around
here for many years, but I am not sure how good it is.

Which is bloody expensive. I can get it for 250 capsules at RM77/bottle with 500mg/capsule. That's like 20% off the price plus I am getting more capsules when compared to GNC 90 capsules/bottle.

Surprise to see you mention, 'expensive'
I recall you were kind in Financial forum.
So I would be glad to return favour.

If you have trouble sleeping and considering alternative,
then I can refer you to a friend who dealt with sleep difficulties without pills.
It is not free, so cannot share in public.

Hey guys, I had been having sleep problems since 2020 and visited a wellness doctor. She prescribed Melatonin to me and costs RM280 per 60 caps. It really helped me to reset my circadian rhythm and allowed me to sleep at a better timing. Back then during MCO I had anxiety and depression due to the the work load. Bad thoughts starts to come in my mind and I couldn't sleep. I sleep at 5am and wake up at 2pm. I consumed a lot of supper and the worst part is that I kept beating myself up. It was one of my lowest point in my life.

I went to a normal GP and they prescribed sleeping pills but as you know, I didn't want to get addicted to it but I really needed help. After paying RM4k to my wellness doctor for a full check and going in a wellness program, I've never been better. Lost weight and start being consistent with things I do. Really got me out from the dark times.

I owed it to myself and with the support of melatonin, I am able to sleep and with better sleep, I get to regulate my mood.. lower my anxiety and gave me strength to forgive myself and let go of things beyond my control. My thoughts became better and positive as my sleep got better. I know in Malaysia it is legal but regulated however I don't think anyone should suffer insomnia and a bad sleep cycle. It is a supplement and not a drug and not addictive. I just want to share my journey and I hope it helps people who

1. Suffers from insomnia
2. No regular sleep
3. Anxiety
4. Stress
5. Jet Lag

If you have such symptoms, living with it or want to better your life, try to fix your sleep first. You will feel different and that keeps you going. Don't give up on your sleep or yourself. Practice self love and your life will shine. Fix fix fix and sleep well. As I know not everyone can pay a wellness doctor a visit and RM280 is expensive for 60 tabs customized for you but I've found a local site that imports directly from manufacturers. To cut down my costs, I've been using them to get my supplies. Costs me less than RM2 per day to sleep well.

Hope this can help everyone here to sleep better smile.gif

You can get it from https://melatonin.asia/
