okay, so I just received my credit card billing for my HS order a while ago (had it ordered some 2 weeks ago, it didn't show up on the online CC billing until now).... and it turns out that they're doing the conversion at 100yen = RM4....

WTF

Anyone here ordered stuff from HS care to confirm this? Man, what a ripoff. I wonder what's stopping them from accepting paypal payments.

IINM, the bank sets the exchange rate.. not the merchant. And bank rates tend to be more expensive then the normal forex

bank's exchange rate is always around 1% more than wut u see at sites like xe.com smile.gif
credit card transaction, u have to add another 1-2% to this, depending on the bank

But, using Paypal will actually be cheaper if you buy funds from the folks at Garage Sales thread. Their rates are usually lower than current rates and you don't get charged for CC transaction and stuff.

Well, that's the only good thing about PP anyways.

xe.com lists the yen today at 3.91, factor in how banks usually inflate the rates by 0.1-0.2 and that's about right. Just a shitty time to buy figures at the current econ climate I guess.

QUOTE(Annoyed @ Dec 10 2008, 12:35 AM)
Hmm, i bought it for ¥5,460 which is about 15% off it's ¥6,500 retail price. So it should be around RM210. Was just randomly browsing and happened upon it. Made the figure collector in me light up lol. Being on sale sealed the deal for me.

Yea... long longgg expensive road indeed. Hope i'm making the right choice ahaha
*
Where did you buy it from? That's a really good deal. I preordered her from P-A but cancelled her in the end cos I wasn't 100% happy with how her face turned out, she came up to about RM220 I think.

man, that sucks =3=

guess that's another reason to avoid using HS (I sure hope they accept paypals soon, and now I'm not sure if I'm gonna order some Figmas from them later today, to get the santa accessories anymore)

If you want to use paypal go buy from HLJ, they accept paypal, HS don't think they ever will accept Paypal. They already stated the reason in their FAQ iinm

Ayup. I've been using HLJ for almost all my purchases. Just ordered from HS due to the sales they're having (and under the impression that I'll be paying at 100yen = RM3.6).

I think a lot of us feel your pain, many have been through similar postage "accidents" tongue.gif I read somewhere that a person who got a badly damaged package filed a complaint and the store sent him another replacement FOC (didn't even have to return the original item), but can't be sure if this was P-A or some other online store. Since Yoko is sold out maybe they might be nice enough to at least give you a partial credit refund. I had a shipment which contained 2-3 items that went missing and after waiting 2 months, P-A was kind enough to resend the whole package even though the first one was sent via untrackable shipping. Hopefully they're still as nice as this was 2 years ago laugh.gif

thanks byaku-chan. thats encouraging enough though, i do doubt they'll do anything since its been quite sometime but i might as well try.

Where do you guys check for the conversion rates anyway? at the BNM site?
http://www.bnm.gov.my/index.php?ch=12&pg=6...ype=Mid&unit=rm

Because the site still says the conversion of yen to RM is 100yen = RM3.6127 as of today.
*
since u using HLB, might as well got check it at HLB site, link is here
and as of yesterday the rate is JAPANESE YEN (JPY) 3.9580, the rate been hovering there for quite sometime now.

Yeah, I see my problem now. For some reason, the one that I see was from Jan 2008 to Oct 2008 (no idea why it's like that, maybe one of you guys set it like that when linking it from here, so I bookmarked it, and was under false impression all this while D:).

Ah i live in Japan (Msian though). Got her from Gamers which is a retail chain store for anime, games merchandise. I go there from time to time when i'm around the area to check out what's new.

Yeah, i read about that too. That she had a smiling face in the samples. But i'm pretty pleased with this one too. I think she has a nice, calm and composed pose.

Starting a PVC-collecting hobby while living in Japan? LOL good luck and godspeed XD I notice amiami.com has v competitive prices, not sure if they're cheaper than brick and mortar shops though. amazon.jp sometimes has crazy deals too. Been tempted to buy off amazon but after calculating the cost of custom ordering it doesn't work out all that cheaply once I factor in the commission fees, postage etc.

Her pose is pretty refreshing, sometimes simple works best. The main pull for me was her kimono, which makes it kind of ironic that I cancelled her bc of the face since there was nothing wrong with her kimono X'D

Yeah, pretty rare of GSC to muck up faces. But the saving grace is even though she's not smiling anymore at least it looks like a cool composed expression which will still appeal to people. Yamato and their prototype -> actual figures on the other hand ... they managed to make the face on the Cerberus Project Ignis look slightly deranged, quite an amazing feat lol:
