It is a bit too general and could probably use more insight as to why. Not badly written though. The English is better than half of my classes in college. You could also use some things like your personal experiences in the game or perhaps your views, if you have watched the MLG/CGS matches.

Are the matches viewer friendly? There are mixed opinions about it but for people that have played WoW (you can't ignore WoW's huge player base), you will easily be able to tell what is going on. However, if you haven't played it, you would be lost as to what is Cyclone.

The recent characters in the competitive Arena scene are somewhat funny though. Hafu's team getting the boot by MoB, only to come back to win the next tournament, also beating the team that replaced them in MoB. Now there is some drama with Serennia/Neilyo.

its not indestructible, but it gets close.

also, you need to look further if you think WCG is the only tournament there is. MLG/WWI Paris/CGS and thats not even including the local/continental tourneys in europe, china, korea and taiwan are amongst the common tourneys in WoW. and above all else theres the online tournament that blizzard is hosting where everywehre around the world is participating.

the monthly fee is also around rm50 or even less if you pay 6 months haha (do you even play WoW?)
the rm120 you mentioned is TWO months, which does deserve some clarification. also, usually people pay from rm90-110 for the month card (again, that last 2 months)

other than that. pretty decent article smile.gif

Its because I can't afford to pay WOW. But I do play them on private servers, just to see what you players experience. Thanks for the feedback though

And you're actually serious about this. If anyone found a way to make an oxymoron that's longer than two words, it's you.

OP, you mention that the LYN Malaysian Community is small yes. But it's not a true reflection of the number of players from Malaysia. We wouldn't be that small if we didn't get a mention in the Blizzard press releases about their playerbase.

There are a lot of players but they are split mostly between the US and China/Taiwan servers.

The other thing about WoW is that it has mostly evolved into a "team environment" where the sport is not the short duration battles that you desscribed but more for the longer duration ones located in dungeons. Unfortunately, to really experience the high-end dungeons/instances will take a few months. Best I can think of is that if one of your friends raids, you can then see what it's like although some guilds are quite strict and others more relax about raiding requirements.

Money is not so bad if one plans out properly. Someone mention that paying Maplestory or any of the other paid MMOs are just about the same as paying the WoW subscription. Although if you are a student, yes it's pretty expensive but the WoW population is probably made up of working adults who in their younger days were gamers. Those are the gamers that most of the video game houses target : the working adults and not so much the students. Then again, in US dollars, it's probably a lot cheaper for students than it is for our local students.

trust me when I say what u get in private servers are 10% or less of what paying subscribers are experiencing.

Zero bugs (It's a whole different world, seriously) in talents, quests, instances, also in scripted events like battleground weekends, fishing tournaments, arena pvp, working different types of battlegrounds (point capture, capture the flag), faction rewards, profession perks (i.e, discovery for alchemy), quest events, major one-time events (gates of ahn-qiraj), holiday events (Lunar festival, Hallow's End),

The sort of folks you meet are much more diverse, racially and in form of maturity (although u will meet your share of scrubs). I just started and some friendships I made have potential to go far. You get first dibs on upcoming changes in wow as well, instead of having to wait for a server update (and probably incomplete or flawed) for the private ones.

You shouldn't base your experience on a private server! Just to iterate what has been said. The article is too generalised and IMHO don't see the point of it. Bits of this and that, i don't get the feel that you put some effort into it.

Affordability nowadays, even for student is a joke. Roughly RM50 a month; that's RM2 a day. Most students think of nothing spending much more than that. Granted exceptions do exist but it's their prerogative to decide priorities.

On a whole, it's merely an introduction. Just IMHO though smile.gif Try harder.

I am assuming the community is small due to the fact that the monthly fee is a bomb of 120 ringgit. However, for those who can afford, its fine.
Its RM120 every TWO months. Or cheaper depends where you get your gamecard from.
Im buying it from Gamehive using mol points and it costs RM 95 only.

Playing WOW is 10X cheaper than playing LOLDOTA in cybercafe or playing those so-called free MMORPG where you need to pay extra cash to get "rare" stuffs and bonuses.

Paying Rm 2 per day for such a great entertainment like WOW is really a steal, considering everything is so expensive nowadays.

I was about to write a medium sized review of the article but this should do:

To write an article about WoW when you only play on private server is like me writing an article on professional football when the only thing I do is watch the games on Tv....

LOL. how can u write a review by using private servers as base?

u missed out the fun in interacting (that's the main point of an MMORPG game anyway) with other player from all part of the world (depending on your server).

i got friends as far as from OZ and US (of coz) thanks to my guild. our guild (small je, less than 150 ppl) members maintain a close relationship that we even talk about personal problems between us. guess when you trust someone with your life and survival (during raids), you tend to get close to them. tongue.gif

these are a few examples that few of ppl out there failed to see about WoW IMHO.

not forgetting ability to farm golds. i still have a basic gold farming run that i do every now and then. just for fun.
