12mnths... and the Senior manager called me today to explain the rationale of that offer, he gave his commitment that he will develop me and my next promotion due at dec2019. I still eligible for annual performance bonus at the end of the year and annual pay review.

as with many other acn stories, they are able to rationalise every single thing. commitment are just bullshits unless they're written down in stone if not u wait long long la, i can tell u promo from consultant to mgr is very unlikely in a year more so for a new outside hire

Haha! I’ve been in the workforce for sometime so I understand as well.. it’s their rationale and i accept. I won’t be able to get an increment this year if they don’t stretch the max ceiling for snr consultant, only option for me is really to climb one up, he told me because I don’t have the real consulting experience that’s the reason I couldn’t be offered as a manager.

I’m in delimma to be honest, my current job super flexible, I don’t have to be in the ofis, i plan everything on my own.. what I want to do, what initiative, by when... full trust from my manager.. but I’m on max ceiling as well for my job grade.

ACN - what I like is just nature of the work, potential of future opportunity once I have consulting experience and extra 10k in 2018 taking into consideration i received sign on bonus plus pro rated year end bonus.

flexibility in acn depends on the client - was with a client super flexible best time of my tenure there but my first client was absolutely horrible.

but with that being said, it also depends on whats ur next move, if u move to consulting then managerial work is slightly different than the non consulting managerial positions

though, sounds like ure taking it already

I have not started yet but I've heard that hours are usually long and it's part and parcel of the job. I got a friend who started before me that worked entire weekends and typically leaves very late at night. Basically, we're expected to OT to meet the needs of the role, but of course, it's also dependent on what projects you get put in.

Not really, I actually rejected the offer because after calculate everything it is just don’t make any financial sense for me to move, it’s not even on par at the end of the day, financial wise will be less 18k/year than what I can spend if I stay. Anyhow I love doing consulting and that’s what I did all this year only different is, within the company globally.

I would recommend job seekers with less experience to join this company for exposure and to learn the way of working.

With that said, trust that the way of working as an Accenture Consultant is worth learning.
One undeniable fact is that, having logged few years of portfolio as a consultant will make the resume valuable.

Note: I am not a consultant myself, this is what I observed from some of the peers in the industry.

Accenture Strategy vs Accenture Consulting, which dpt pays more for fresh grad?

Riding on this, which is a better segment?

Is Level 7 considered mid mgmt?

How's ACN working environment like?
Also, seems like they promise promotion to people within two years. Is this generally true?
Last question, what's the main difference between consultant and consulting manager?

Thanks in advance.

The skills to be a consulting manager is very different to those required to operate as a manager in industry. A lot of people who come in with 10+ years experience and demanded a manager role end up leaving within 6 months. If you know what a consultant do, then you'll know the pressures. Hence it's always better to promote from within or poach someone from a competitor. The pace and expectation is different and not many people are exposed to it or is used to it

Manager is L7

There's no promise of promotion but the rule is up or out. Criteria for promotion changes from year to year and geography to geography.

Accenture Strategy unfortunately pays more. Some here say that a new graduate gets about $4k but for Strategy, it's about $7k for new graduates. That said, Strategy doesn't hire by the busloads, you'll get a few new recruits every year.
