Guess Who Has a Surprise Cameo in The Dark Knight Rises? SPOILERS!!



I know that Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan want to maintain as much secrecy as they can with their “Batman” movies, but let’s face it, the more they try to keep this thing hidden, the more people want to know. Frankly, I think that’s the whole plan. They WANT us to want to know, that whole theory of, “What you can’t have, you desperately want”, etc. Hell, it’s working. Who doesn’t want to know everything they can about Nolan’s third (and possibly last) Batman movie?

And so, with that in mind, here’s a little info about a surprise cameo in “The Dark Knight Rises” that you may want to STOP READING NOW if you’d rather preserve the surprise. I’m warning you, turn back now. Frankly, if you’re averse to “The Dark Knight Rises” spoilers, I would just avoid any articles on the movie on the Internet, cause there’s going to be one or two nuggets drop here and there that might ruin your day.

Collider: A lot of us are excited to see you returning as Alfred in The Dark Knight Rises. I know Mr. Nolan is very guarded about the story, but can you at least tell us how filming has been going so far?

Caine:  It’s fantastic.  I started filming last week and I film next week.  As the butler, I do a load of filming at the beginning, and everybody goes off and does all the adventures and they all come home shot to pieces and I patch them together when they all get back.  Christopher Nolan, I think, is one of the greatest directors in the world and I’ve been lucky enough…this is my fifth movie with him.  It’s such a pleasure to work with him and he’s so clever.  We’ve all signed the Official Secrets Act.  I’m lucky to be able to tell you the title of the movie.  I remember I did an interview and someone said to me, “What are you doing next?”  I said, “I’m doing Batman.”  I saw Chris and he said, “Why did you tell them you were doing Batman?”  I said, “Because I am.”  He said, “You’re supposed to keep it secret.”  I said, “I couldn’t keep that a secret.”  Let me tell you…the plot is extraordinary…really extraordinary.  I know why he wants to keep it a secret.  You really need not to know till you see the movie.

Yup, the teaser trailer is indeed fake. The opening sequence is taken from "Clash of the Titans" and the bats sequence taken from a BBC documentary. A 'realistic' fake to be honest, as if the audience is applauding at the first sight of "Gotham" and all... I for one was slightly thinking it was real.

Anyways, the plot of Rises has been kept to an absolute secrecy as Michael Caine points out in an interview with Collider :
