QUOTE(bOoEsT @ Nov 21 2008, 04:27 PM) Basically, this will depends which NAS product u buy...for example: for QNAP 1 bay product, they product Q-RAID-1, which mean u can have mirroring your DATA. once internal HDD dead than U just replace this external HDD to your internal HDD. and power up... and it will work like normal. if you ask about HW ( which mean the inside motherbaord) fail... so far less than 1% of spoil rate for the past 3 years..... but if you still insist ask how if your NAS is belong to that 1%, than the answer is , just connect to another QNAP NAS, they can read...... by others QNAP NAS.... but as for extra protection, normally we advice customer to do the QRAID-1 to have better data protection... |

Can someone explain to me the difference between a Synology DS-109j and a DS-109? Or the difference between Synology's 10xj or 10x technically would be a pretty similar line of question. Price is of course different.
I'm thinking of buying a NAS to act as a LAN file server and a remote (access through Internet) file server whenever I go outstation (no need to pry off an internal HDD and bringing along an external case). Certainly simplify things and reduce power usage whenever I just need torrent-ing or simple browsing/word processing with my netbook (leaving my desktop for use for heavier tasks). |

After searching the forum, so this is the official place to discuss about NAS?
I am planning to buy one NAS, connect to my router to allow multiple user access. Saw ALL IT selling Buffalo DriveStation Live NAS 640Gb at RM399. Any comments or suggestions around the same price? |

Saw MAXTOR 320GB Shared Storage II selling at RM159 only.
But it's only 320Gb and it's kinda ugly compare to Buffalo LinkStation. |

Hi,
I just follow NAS Thread here and its nice... I've planned to buy NAS for home user. Basicaly I need NAS to connect to my iMac and PC both, and use for media streaming, and if possible the usb also can use as print server. Is there any recomendation which Nas Product is good both in performance and featured ? I saw this thread mostly use Synology, Qnap and Dlink. Right now I need 2TB disk and I just abit confused with WD MyBook World II and Dlink. Thanks. |
