vmad.gif How come D-Link is the cheaper price ??
Anyone can explain the difference for this from hardware and features spec ?

and synology got:
SYNOLOGY DS-209J
SYNOLOGY DS-209
SYNOLOGY DS-209 - II

Well......
Start to confuse me....

But if I calculate the price, seems now Synology has too far price than WD MyWorld II ( with 2 disk 2TB costly rough 1300 ).

It is always the spec. Compare the spec and what you want to use the NAS for. If just for storage, synology is over price for you and not worth to buy. Get the china NAS. More cheaper.

Just my opinion. If just storage, NAS is not worth it. The running cost and wear and tear of the HDD. I rather just get an ext HDD and carry around. tongue.gif

Just bought Thecus N2200.

Found out two cons.
1. Cannot download HTTP w password protected.
2. Cannot access to this NAS outside internet.

Wonder Synology DS110J can o not?

If yes, I wont hesitate to sell off Thecus N2200 to buy DS110J. hmm.gif

What do you mean "Cannot access to this NAS outside internet"? You cannot access the nas using direct network cable?

You can try the synology sample and the function by using it before decide to buy. The link is here --> http://midis.serveftp.net:5000/

Thecus N0204 miniNAS was selling at the price RM399, ALLIT.
After I read some review, seems like not a good idea to use a 2.5" hard disk for NAS?
Since 2.5" is more expensive and mostly at 5400rpm.

http://www.thecus.com/products_over.php?ci...anguage=english
*
Cause the NAS is running 7/11. With a 2.5' HDD, it cannot last long compare 3.5'. With higher price, lower speed and lifetime, it is not cost effective.

Design looks cool. I just randomly searching for a NAS below RM500.
I just need for a simple shared storage with my family members.
*
Well, If you want a simple NAS, just get the china made NAS. The price is rm200. Samba, ftp and simple torrent should be no problem.

The DS110J is solder on board ram. Can't change the ram.

If I not mistaken, those with + at the end number, is removeable ram.

Have you check what spec RAM of your NAS using?

I found out that my DS409+ are very choosy about ram even the spec is match. It need specific type of RAM model or chipset. Damn difficlt to find. So far kingston (kvr667d2s5/1g) and cosair 1g comfirm not working on my NAS.
