i have good experience with the  panasonic inverters. they run well and power consumption is minimal if you set to 28° or so
*
ha? 28 degree then can save power... what a joke? if 28 degree why u need to on aircon if at nite??? tongue.gif

Seems like Mitsubishi is not very popular here. Just bought Mitsubishi Mr Slim FF10 with plasma for 1296 with installation, is it expensive?
*
price is cheap, but no inverter, in long run, u lose more $$$ as the electricity bill is going to be up for sure in future....

mine also set at 28. first, not all 28 is 28, if use a thermometer test the actual room temp,it maybe 26-27.
second, nows a day all house are not vent properly, my room is hot too at night...
*
yes, it could happen, but with actual temperature 26-27 i not a comfort temperature for me..........

actual temperature of 25 should be the ideal temperature....

To use inverter or not you must fulfill these three conditions or else the savings cannot cover the extra cost of an inverter aircond.

1)Use more than 8 hours a day.
2)Temperature set to 25c or higher.
3)Room sized type.
*
1) not necessary use more than 8 hrs then can save electricity... as long as the aircon reached set temperature (part load)..... so basically after 10-15 mins u on the aircon and after the temperature hit then it save electricity already...so need to wait til 8 hrs per day...

8 hrs per day at least for inverter to save electricity is very naive kind of talking... basically ppl must on 8 hrs per day is referring to how long u can recover the extra cost u spent on a new inverter aircon by misusing way in how much u save by using inverter aircon daily...

2) even u set below 25c also can save, as long as the set temperature can be reached...only difference is the lower u set the temperature, the longer time it takes to reach the temperature....unless u set very very low temperature 21-22 or below....it will be tough for aircon to hit the temperature within short time becos other factor like the outside temperature at that time also plays a part... the bigger the difference between the room temp and outside temp, the longer and harder for aircon to reach..

3) yes room size and ur inverter aircon BTU must match or greater....

nope it is come with hitachi ALL DC inverter unit.
i think it's nano virus filter.

cause when i bought is hitachi after used at 1 week i change over to mitsubishi electric for everyday sleep i hear the noisy for fancoil blower, end up i changed so now no more noisy again, mit ele. MSY-GE10VA & GE13VA model is the quietest 19dB in market so far, from now i think is the LG can make it.

i also recently changed my living hall panasonic non-inverter 2hp to Mit. Ele. starmex inverter 2.5HP.
it's very save energy after 30min. you can see the meter will be tick tick very slow.

cause inverter unit from outdoor and indoor will be self adjusted temperature to suite comfortable air.
when in daytime can hear normal sound from fan blower, but at night time can't hear the noise from fan speed it is very slowly runing to compared 1hp still can hear the noisy from blower fan.

but for panasonic non-inverter 2hp, i think i cant stand to nearest condenser unit area, even in car porch you can feel the heat for maximum fan speed runing with noisy from compressor.

but for the hitachi is abit disappointed cause of noisy blower sound.
price not cheap at all RM1350 for 1hp.
mitsubishi electric inverter at RM1300 for 1hp.

but really stupid to bought hitachi malaysia made , malaysia tak boreh.
from service man they also said some batch is ok some batch is same like mine air swing motor also make noisy when up and down.
ic.... that's good, ya the starmex GE10VA i think it is the best inverter 1hp model so far, i got two in my house, one in my parents room and one in my bedroom. very quiet at nite even it is back to back installation, compressor directly outside the wall. very cold.

worth the money....... biggrin.gif

Hi
I opening this thread for us to discuss about an aircond (YES I know there a lot,but all discuss about how the aircond work and their reliability after they use it, this thread focus on how to buy a good aircond). I had go for a few web forum and hardly can see what aircond should be a good bargain for money(buying+maintaince+operating cost)

I had read all topic in lowyat.net and usually people will only discuss about PANA,York & Daikin

For January2011, I can said the No1 saving energy goes to Hitachi (my study only cover for 1HP and 1.5HP), but still even do it no1, but hardly people discuss about this brand...why yaa?? - any reason why? hmm.gif I had use Hitachi for the last 10 years (01-2011)..move house 3 time already...the aircond still cold and the best part, since I buy it, it work without fail for me..only call technician to topup gas and chemical wash(chemical wash once every 3 years, wash filter every month)

so continue with out discussion , below are result from my study, I had select few reliable brand, call few shop to get the best price and put it in excel and wanna share it with you

** The higher the EER - less money you spent to pay your electric bill thumbup.gif
(please take note that all price exclude installation)

and if you need more detail before buying an aircond, you should check this document...it so detail yet simple to understand..

Feel free to comment and share your opinion..hopefully it can help all aircond consumer from being cheated by shop dealer rclxms.gif

Have fun searching good aircond for you and family

u said to help choosing for good brand of aircon... how come all in ur list are those not so popular brand....

where are mitsubishi and daikin? i found that somemore malaysian are very reluctant to changes and are not so willing to accept new things.

mitsubishi and daikin are so good brand but seems like most malaysian will choose panasonic etc kind of brand....

It is not about the inverter run after 4 hours or 8 hours.

The 4~8 hours is the cost you can recoup by using inverter as compared to the conventional.

Inverter can save 30~50% power, but it is significant expensive than conventional, a couple Rm200~300.
If you electric bill is low to start with, aka you use 1 hour per day only, it could take 5~10 years before you can save the Rm200~300 as compared using conventional.

Having said that, future electricity tariff is surely going up, while using less electricity is also part of effort to make the earth more green.

Conventional air-cond does switch off when reach the desired temp.
Conventional air-cond on and off with only one power rating, aka either stop of start at full power.
But inverter can adjust your motor speed based on the temperature feedback, instead on and off at full power each time, that's where the inverter saving come from.
a lot of ppl try to save the initial rm200-300 for not buying inverter aircon, but i think it is not a rite move.. yes correct in future the electricity sure will increase, so by using inverter u definitely save more when time goes by...
and non-inverter is going to phase out soon also... not pt buying old technology while inverter will take over within short time...

and inverter reduce significant on the electricity bill, this is a good thing that u can enjoy aircon more freely. becos if u are using non-inverter aircon, u probably will hesitate or reduce significant on the usage of aircon which it defeats the purpose of buying aircon.

so there is no way one should buy non-inverter at all now if u are a smart consumer.... smile.gif

ok ... i think i go for 1.5 enough ... even though my living room is quite big coz it will be a huge open space for living room + dining room.
but i prefer moderate coolness ... dont have to be the coldest ... hahaa ...

so far i hardly see the price for 1.5/2.0 HP panasonic ... anyone have any idea?
or probably we can list down the price list for every model + specification + their price here?
it will be a very good info to share though ...
*
if ur aircon is under power (meaning if the horse power of ur aircon does not match the size of your living room space, it will take forever to cool down, which result in maximum electricity bill, in long run, it is not cost-efficient, especially electricity bill rises everyday.

I had a daikin 1.0 inverter. So far so good. Only thing now like blower start to give noise, like blow hard then soft... I had been using it for 2 years, daily on (7 hours perday).
I thinking to do some service, i wonder the service price is same for non inverter? Mine is using normal gas.
*
one thing bad abt daikin inverter in malaysia is that they are using old gas R22. which it does not give the full power of inverter model that use new gas R410A gas, which cool down faster and more quiet.

else i will choose daikin also because the design and build nicer.

Mr.Slim is with or without inverter? How's the electricity consumption?
*
mr slim aircon not inverter one.... only starmex is inverter.

i think mitsubishi mr slim aircon is selling points abt the extra features comparing to normal non-inverter aircon.

the shop says mr slim can save abt 30% electricity while starmex one is abt 50%. dun know true or not.

i personally use mitsubishi starmex inverter aircon, very electricity savings.

sometimes just base on luck.
bcoz of 1 set of default/spoiled a/c ... doesn't mean the brand its not good.

my fren bought 2 set of panasonic a/c ... put in the bedroom with almost the same size each.
1 is ok but other 1 is not cold enough ... go complaint & technician check, later said ... nothing wrong!!! so how??
*
p brand is CMI........

If you're the user then you will realised what I meant.

Cause I got my experience from R22 inverter changed to R410a inverter within a year..
*
Yes confirmed R410A performance is better, cooling faster for sure. I had been using Mitsubishi Starmex 1HP aircon, at nite I just need to on 27 to 28 degree and it is so cool....

Mxlxysxxx buys thing just look at price and not quality of product, so they will find all sort of reasons to slide their decision on a cheaper stuff...
