i guess the answer would be it depends on the units EER at specific loads. if you have an inverter which is very efficient at lower loads then you would be best of by using it on lower settings for a longer period. for example i set all my inverter a/c in the house to 28° but i never off them. if you have a regular aircon which only has full load or none then you might be better off running it for the shortest period of time but under _continous_ full load. avoid on/off. i hope this helps a bit.

How many units of air-cond and how much is your electricity bill per month, if you leave it on 24/7?

You can consider York WinterSpa too, if you want air-conditioner with hot water system.

I believe Panasonic and Mitsubishi inverter type airconds are using conventional piping as well, nope?
*
Hmm no. I think all inverter airconds except Daikin uses R410A. Any aircond that uses R410A refrigerant must use thicker copper piping, due to higher operating pressure. Daikin inverter uses R22, hence "conventional" copper piping will do.

Just got my aircon today.

Daikin inverter 1hp ( inclusive of  installation) = RM1300
Daikin Inverter 1.5hp ( Inclusive of installation ) RM1600

Pretty good price. Which shop?

i heard daikin air-con quite good ... anyone got experience with it ?
*
Daikin has a feature where after you have switched off the aircond, it will blow air gently for about 1 hour to dry the blower unit. This helps prevent mold. It also has a night mode that switches the blower unit to very low setting, making it extremely quiet.

i installed the pana basic model (1HP n 1.5HP)....indoor unit quiet.....outdoor unit quite noisy......i guess my neighbour will cursing me like crazy if i open it overnite....

is pana outdoor unit noisy is considered normal?.....before buy pana a lot ppl said it's quiet (my fault dint go clarify indoor or outdoor quiet).....now feel like kena CON....
*
It's unusual for a new unit to be noisy. Is it properly mounted, as in screwed securely to eliminate vibration?

Pana sounds unstable lah. My house contractor previously was an air cond service guy. he do not recommend pana but daikin. I browsed through the priced in this forum, daikin is slightly pricier. Is it worth the extra RM100+ for daikin??
*
Is it really? I thought Panasonic's Eco Navi series is pricier than Daikin. I guess Panasonic has a wider range of models, hence the pricing varies more. RM 100 isn't that big a difference, if you think about it.

If you are considering inverter A/C, Panasonic's piping would be more expensive compared to Daikin because they use the newer R410 which operates at a higher pressure. That would be something you want to consider if you have very long piping.

I use Daikin inverter series, pretty OK so far. It's also quite easy to dismantle the air louvers for some general cleaning. Not as easy at Mitsubishi's Mr Slim but it's easy enough. You can access the blower unit to clean it after removing the louvers.

hi all

my pana inverter air-cond bought on last year Oct, it had econavi.
now i notice air flow come out only half side of the louver, means just right side got air & no air from left side.

is this econavi fail function? or need a service maintenance?

if a lot dust inside, there should less air flow, but can not be 1 side got air only....really no idea...can any ppl help?
*
Isn't that EcoNavi's feature, directed airflow? Maybe you should try cleaning its sensor.

Recently, I am now facing some noise problem (when the vents are set to swing) on 2 of my Pana AC. Reported the problem to Pana and they got their agent and also sent their own technician to look at them. 3 times already. Even after changing the controller board plus the discharge grille. The noise come back after a day or two.  doh.gif

What kind of noise?

Damn...Called up ESH to arrange deliver the 4 Units of aircon and been informed the 2HP didn't have stock and only available next month (no confirm date) sad.gif
It means if deliever after than I will have to re-clean my house / painting (if) and call the aircon folk again ? ...
How come they dont keep stock once customer pay full? Or I should not pay full at all?
*
Which ESH? I had a terrible experience with ESH Puchong. First, they were late in delivering the fridge. Then when the fridge arrives, it's damaged. When I went to the shop to ask for a new one, they said no more stock, have to wait. I got so pissed I asked for my money back. They said it will take them weeks to process that request. I raised hell and the HQ finally gave me a cheque.

Puchong ESH....

Weikee
I purchased during the roadshow and indicated will get from them around Dec...

Now I either Wait / Cancel it (but I have pay full), downgrade from 2HP to 1.5HP and get something for rest of balance... vmad.gif

I see they haven't changed. One way you could do it is complain to their HQ, get the HQ to arrange delivery. But HQ is in SS2 I think.

has anyone use those 3M Filtrete as an added filter for their split aircons?
my worries are -

1. does it impedes airflow and drop the efficiency of your aircon?
2. will it keep the blower fan blades clean as this is the part where it gets really dirty
3. how often do you need to replace it based on past experience
*
I have used this before, but now I have switched to Daiso's RM 5 filters. Cheaper in the long run.
3M Filtrete is much more effective though, and yes, it does impede airflow especially when it gets clogged.
My fan blades still get dirty, but maybe not as fast as it would have been without a filter.
3M filter gets clogged within a month, I use my A/C every night, and longer on weekends. If your area is very dusty, I think it will clog even faster.

Haven't had my Daikins breakdown on me yet... these days Daikins are all export quality as they are sourced from Thailand so I seriously doubt their build quality can be worse than locally assembled Yorks or Panasonics. I know some aircond installers grumble because the compressors are freaking huge. Also the wiring is different from other air conds and in theory should be less prone to the PCB frying compared to York. Another reason some air cond installers may not like Daikin is that usually these are serviced directly by their own technicians so less chance for outsiders to cari makan from them....
So far in use I find they are extremely quiet so no complaints so far. However if you are the super impatient type who wants the aircond to blast cold air at you the moment you switch it on, please don't get Daikins: Daikins take their own sweet time to power up.
*
I can also attest to Daikin's reliability. I have 4 inverter units in my house. It's true that they take longer to cool down the room, but they are very quiet(both indoor unit and the compressor). It also has a night mode that turns the blower down so low that you virtually do not feel the cold air blowing at you. The only problem I have with Daikin is if the blower gets dirty, it tends to make a slight sound.

The start up is a bit slow because there's a built in logic to move the louvres up and down to drain out any potential condensation before powering up the blower. Noticed this on both their inverter and non-inverter models. As you say, even their compressors are really quiet..
*
Yea, I also like the anti-mold mode where the blower continues to blow for some time after you switch off the aircond.

That why got better technology why not to try.. Use more and save more electric bill with reduce noise at night time.
Cause due to outdoor fan speed is follow actual temperature to reduce high & low & even compressor speed.

Mine is Mitsubishi electric starmex so far so good, already has been usage 3 yrs long still quiet at all.

Never ask aircond service for repair a once.
Cause I know how to solve on water leakage & use filter to block more dust at all.
*
So how do you solve water leakage? All A/C comes with filter, no?
