can anyone tell me what is the different between Misubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries?. which one is better for non inverter basic unit? thanks

Mitsubishi has 2 different brands for airconds.
1. Mitsubishi Electric (Mr Slim)
2. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI)

According to the sales man, in Malaysia, these 2 brands are competing against each other although back in Japan, they are under the same parent company.
I'm planning to go for MHI's Deluxe series model as recommended by their sales personnel. Under MHI there are Standard, Deluxe and Inverter series.
More information here.
Reason I go for MHI is the 3D air and powerful fan (for 2HP it could blow up to 12 meters away).

I had been googling everywhere and I could not find any local site for MHI. Do I have to buy it thru those electrical shops?.. If in Subang, which would you sifu's recommend, pls?..

There is no local site for MHI. I got the Malaysian contact from their Japan site. Contact TRIO ELECTRIC & AUTOMATION(M) SDN.BHD (Phone: 60-3-8060-9557
Telefax: 60-3-8060-7991) to locate your local dealer. They (TRIO) don't sell to end-user directly.

I am surveying aircond too....

current in my list are follow the priority
1) mitsubishi heavy industry (Deluxe type-SRK model)
2) hitachi (Deluxe type-RAS)
3) mitsubishi electric (Mr Slim-GF & FF model)

My comparison according to my consideration
1) Ioniser (1st & 2nd only) 3rd only actually just to remove bad smell (plasma)
2)Warranty (2nd and 3rd got 2+7 year warranty, 1st only 1+5 year warranty
3)Self clean - 1st:Auto Clean, 2nd:No self clean, 3rd, manual clean
4) EER, 1st one is the best, then 2nd and third (Have to confirm again) - Higher is better to save electric)
5) btu, according to sales person, 2nd=10000btu, 3rd=9545btu, 1st=9000btu (lower is better)

6) price range: similar
7)quality:according LYN, all three brands are good and realiable

My decision: (Tomolo I will buy it)
1) Mitsubishi Heavy Industry because safe electric and got auto cleaning. although warranty is less, but i think when the time after 5 yrs, i oledi forget where do i keep the warranty card oledi....hehe
2) 1hp with ionizer at my master room (coz use longer while sleeping) and 1.5hp without ionizer at my living hall (I think not frequent, if hot and want good air, go to bedroom lo)
3) 1hp (with ioner) = RM980 and 1.5hp (Without ionizer) =RM1130
So RM2k got two aircond....

Will buy for other rooms when i got extra money.....haha

I've just bought myself 4 MHI (Deluxe series) air-conds. 3 SRK10 and 1 SRK19.... Hopefully it's the right decision. Sales person claimed the SRK19 (2HP) can blow up to 18meters away.

Erm, I haven't gotten my air conds yet (just placed the deposit during the fair) as my house renovation isn't up to the stage where the air cond should come in, so I've no idea about it. But it sounds absurd to not have a warranty card. I think you should insist on that warranty card dude.

Added on July 12, 2012, 8:36 amdear all, hv u ever considered portable aircond?
*
Hi, I use to have a portable air-cond. Bought one a few years ago when the heat was unbearable. Not wanting to install a split unit in the rented room, I did some sourcing and purchased a Fujiaire portable air-cond at RM1350 that time (2008).

It did help a whole lot in reducing temperature, the tank that comes with the air-cond could only store water for only 4 hours (with high fan speed) and the compressor would cut off. Did some modification so that the water flows into a bigger pail, could last 9 hours this time (enough for a good night's sleep).

As it ages, the air-conds gets noisier and noisier, and in the end... kapuuut. Spent another RM500 to change the compressor (warranty is only a year).
For those who wanna find a temporary solution, can go for it, but for long term solution, it's better get a split unit, just my 2 cents.
