Guys,

Seems like a lot are recommending Panasonic ac but may I know which particular model?

I'm looking for a 1hp non-inverter for theater room & another 1.5hp inveter for master bedroom.

I went to legend to inquire & was quoted 1hp non-ionizer at about 900 & 1.5hp ionizer at 1.5k. I forgot to ask about inverter, stupid me :S
*
I got asked. It's 1.0 Inverter RM1330, 1.5 inverter for RM1670. I also went there to ask about my aircon, but did anyone notice the staffs attitude, or is it just me? Like hirau tak hirau when u ask thing. Also didn't bother to put display set for you to see. That left me wondering whether their service (delivering and installation) will be ok or not.

Anyone has experience with them?

May I know what is the meaning back to back installation? I understand it's aircon installed with the outdoor unit right behind it after the wall. How about install aircon on the wall, the pipe going straight out from the wall to outside then a few feet away to the outdoor unit? Is that considered back to back?

Also, does back-to-back installation requires hacking and cementing back? At first I want to let my contractor settle the aircon cause we want concealed piping (not back-to-back). But he’s slow… so I’m thinking to deduct that work out and only buy air con after we move in and go for back to back. Now my concern is whether there’s hacking and I would need contractor to help me cement/plastering back that area.

Hope my explanation of my scenario is clear. I’m so kucar-kacir now because of the renovation thing! Stress...

Do the back to back have enough opening for compressor / blower unit?

Added on December 13, 2011, 12:17 pmAnd is that the best location? Compressor is not light so got to mount on proper structure and also is it in nice efficient area with lots of breathing for compressor.

You mean does the outdoor unit have enough place to be mounted there?

It’s a double storey so I have an area like balcony (but not accessible unless climb out of window) outside the window. One at the outside area of my master bedroom (let’s call it A) and another at outside of bedroom 3 (let’s call it B). I guess the air cons can sit at the balconies. I wanted to install 3 air con.

1. Master bedroom and lead the pipe to outdoor unit at balcony A.
2. Living room at ground floor but let the outdoor unit at balcony A too.
3. Bedroom 2 and let the outdoor unit at balcony B (balcony B is outside of bedroom 3, next to bedroom 2)

I’ve seen my neighbor putting the air con at (1) & (2) so I guess should be ok. Not sure about (3)

But is this consider as back to back and standard installation? But I know over 10 feet will charge by feet la.

Do I need people to help me cement/plaster back the holes or the air con installer capable to open holes just nice for the piping that I don’t need to do cementing back?

If you plan to conceal the piping, is better to do during renovation before your contractor do wall plastering. Normal A/C installation will not hack and conceal, unless you pay them extra. Is a lump sum charges per a/c. And I can tell you their plastering skill is no where near wet work contractor.

If you are ok to have the black hose expose on the outdoor unit than can be done after renovation. The only think you need to take note if the indoor blower unit is not mount on the wall facing outside, you will have some hose expose. If that is fine.

Normal small opening holes the a/c install will be able to seal it, but usually not cement, just the normal white wall putty.

Sorry weikee, been absent a few days here. There's been some drama with contractor. In the end, we don't want the contractor to do piping for us and since he don't want to help us do the cementing and plastering back the conceal piping, we decided to postpone the installation, only after we moved in.

I know I would need to wash my house the second time when they wanna install aircon later, but really no choice already.

Communicating with my contractor is rclxub.gif rclxub.gif Remind, remind and remind and still he can forget this and that. I really hate when he always answers, "where got, where got".

Hi,

I'm planning to buy aircon for my master bedroom and at first thinking of using 1.5HP, then some friends came to my house and mentioned they use 1.0 only for their room which is about my size.

Here's the layout of my room, measurement in cm. The line in red color are the windows (3 panels and not tinted) and there's a walk in wardrobe (with sliding door) and inside the wardrobe is the toilet. The blue color area is where I'm going to put my aircon. I moved it from its original point above the window to make place for full length curtains. There's a ceiling fan in the middle of the room.

It's very warm in the afternoon, that I don't dare to take afternoon nap in it on weekends. During dry days (which is very frequent nowadays), it's warm at night too. I just want to maintain my room temperature at around 22 to 24 degrees.

Is 1.0 sufficient for my case? And is HP going to affect the noise it make?

cassette air cond suitable for even air distribution...depends on your floor layout...for cassette type..most people especially office and shops will go for york/acson...

1.0HP will slightly underpower...depends on what brand you take...if u use ac calculator, it shows that you need 10,000btu...which york ac have it...other mostly 9,000++btu...if at night u sleep with the wardrobe door closed, then 1hp is sufficient...i will recommend you to use panasonic delux model because they have horizontal air flow direction thus can automatically distribute cold air to the left of your room...of coz larger hp produce louder noice because of its larger airflow but for 1 and 1.5 hp..merely can hear their difference...if you plan to use inverter, then better take 1.5hp...

10,000 BTU is equal with how much of HP? I searched online and it says 4HP. sweat.gif
I was actually quite set on getting a Mitsubishi Mr Slim before this after seeing the reviews online and after checking with a friend who's family business is air conditioning line (he's selling York himself). Will it work for this room, if I went for 1.5HP, with no function like horizontal cold air? I won't be using inverter.

1Hp is sure not enough, your AC will work hard. Better use 1.5, is better to use higher, later not child enough hard to fix.

1.5HP will be fine to maintain my room temp to just nice 24 degrees, and not too cold? Sorry I'm a noob when comes to aircon cause previously never had the need to install aircon when I was living in previous house. I asked that based on my aircon in office that seemed to be freezing cold even though we set it to warmer temperature. But then again, the office's aircon is the ducting ceiling type, don't know if that's same case or not.

Thanks weikee & YJYYEE for the useful info. I think I will contemplate if I want the room to cool faster and probably open & close the wardrobe frequently, I will go for 1.5 HP.

Hi, I went to a few shops to ask for the price of Mitsubishi air cons but all said they are not selling Mitsubishi. Even the one I had previously visit, had mitsubishi but now not carrying the brand anymore.

I asked one of the shop, why they don't have mitsubishi, his face black and said something like "third party service".
Anyone knows why?
