Which is more energy efficient, setting 16C and ON for 3 hours or set at 22C and on at 6 hours?
*
if you want the best result, set for 16C, max blowing speed, switch on your fan, after 15min, then only set to 22C or automatic function. You may still keep the fan running at minimum speed.

Air circulation plays a very important role here, if air circulation is not good, you will feel taking longer to get 16C.

Am contemplating between Daikin Inverter and Panasonic Inverter ....which ones good and cheap eh ??Pana these days very bold on electrical saving ...this is for my bedroom unit(1HP) ..the hall one will go for 2HP normal ..as very rarely ON so doesnt make a diff inverter or not .....  smile.gif

Daikin inverter can used back conventional piping and coolant from what i heard, hence installation is cheaper and when u change aircon next time, u can change to non-inverter type
*
QUOTE(antzan @ Mar 8 2010, 12:23 PM)
so Daikin is more economical even with inverter? What about its service maintenance?
*
harrychoo is right, Daikin uses conventional piping and gas, therefore normal standard charges applied for maintenance.

Planning to get air-cond this week because of current hot weather. This model good or not?

Panasonic Deluxe CU-C9KKH = RM1320
or Panasonic Inverter Deluxe CU-S10KKH = RM1420
(Price include normal installation)

The price of the inverter almost the same as non-inverter so I'm in big dilema now. Which one should I get? Inverter really can save electricity? What about the maintenace cost?
*
inverter is more costly than non-inverter in maintenance cost. It will only be effective on saving your electricity bill, if you are using it for long hours.

I am looking forward to install an air conditioning unit. the more shop i asked, the more confused i get. Currently i have these 3 brands in mind :

1) Panasonic
2) Mitsubishi
3) Daikin

Shop A says : Panasonic nowadays made in China, not really reliable anymore. And Panasonic inverter is not as useful as advertised, the energy saving is minimal compare to other brand's inverter. Daikin is the best, he can guarantee minimum 30% reduction on bill with daikin. Furthermore Daikin inverter model uses cheap R22 gas. Other alll use R410 which is expensive

Shop B : Mitsubishi is the best, but mitsubishi parts and servicing is very expensive. The best price to performance ratio is Panasonic.

inverter type is not suitable not everyone, especially for those only use the air conditioner once in awhile.

inverter type will only function well and save electric if you use it for long hours in a closed space, means no cold air going out of your room via windows or doors

Yup, Panasonic is even doing export here in malaysia, in fact, you are buying the brand, it really doesn't matter where it is made, many of the world branded companies have build up production lines in China, including BMW, Benz, Burberry...

iPhone is made in China, how many units have been sold in the world?

well, for the use of air conditioner, it depends on personal lifestyle though, most people go to work on day time, and at night some people prefer the fresh air outside if its not hot and stuffy, especially during rainy days.

Just a question, how long can aircond piping be? Forthe  living room I don't like the outdoor compressor to be visible on the car porch so i thought i put it at the backyard instead. However i think the distance quite far away, so I was wondering whether thereare any limit for it.
*
The shorter the better, the result is noticeable. It will be cooler and faster to get the desired temperature.

The hot weather make us appreciate our aircon more. Last week i decided take a good
look at my room a/c panasonic 1hp. The air flow is coming from one side only and quite
weak. After poking around managed to remove the outer cover and exposed the fan, coil
and water tray. It was last full serviced 1 year ago but i was shocked at the condition inside.
the blower fan blades was covered by furry dirt. Some areas of the coil looks like a mushroom farm
but the most disgusting was the slime and jelly dripping from the cooling coil into the water tray.
Our aircon looks nice and clean outside but inside it is a germ factory and we breath the air every night.
Anyway i bought some non toxic aircon cleaning spray from hardware shop and clean the aircon myself
First time so a bit messy but results quite good. Cold and strong air after service. cost me RM30.00
only . Got 2 more units to clean another day.
Manufacturers recommend service every 3 mths but i feel 6mth minor service and every year
full chemical service is minimum for good health. (also buy a separate air purifier for added protection)

I always use dettol or any antibacterial cleaner to spray at the condenser to clean it. Doing this every month when clean the filter.

And tilt the aircon more to the drain pipe. So the condense water don't remain at the drainer and dry fast.
*
better get professional air cond man to do an overhaul chemical service, more effective and long-lasting for the result.

Hi all,

Could anyone advise me when I should have my aircons serviced? We're living here for a year now and are using the aircon on a daily basis (at night) at 26 degrees. Lately we've been noticing that it's get hotter and hotter at nights, so we put it on 25 degrees. After a month orso this too is starting to get too warm. I figured we might need to service it.

What does servicing mean exactly? Only regassing? What is a regular/normal price for that? Who should I contact for that. We are renting, so is it something I should perhaps tell our landlord (so he can have it done?).

I asked my friends from china. They said Gree Air Conditioner is the Top Brand among all the air conditioner in China. Anyone installed Gree Air Conditioner at home?
Why not you consider Gree ?
Beside price, what make you choose Midea Air Conditioner?

Added on December 14, 2011, 11:32 pm

How about GREE ? Are they using Midea's compressor too?
*
Midea's compressor is actually Toshiba Carrier's compressor
Toshiba Acquires Midea Air Conditioning.

Yup, that I agree.

My old house using York, after 2 years so noisy.

My brother room using Panasonic, but is quiet.

I was wondering how is Midea after sales support. Was worry of this hence did not buy Midea.

Added on January 9, 2012, 11:55 amTalk about noise, my distance neighbor, maybe 50+ feet away, when the a/c is switch on, I can hear the compressor noise... TttttTtttttzzzzzz

Now that is noisy.

Midea is distributed by Midea Scott & English Electonics Sdn Bhd (a member of DRB-Hicom) which previously distributed Goldstar brand (known as LG now) for many years in Malaysia

Glad to hear your Midea good to be used and value for money.
Do you use it at Master room or Living Hall? Quiet operation ?
Does your Midea air cond has value added feature such as Sharp Plasmacluster ion technology?
*
Midea air conditioner does have ioniser, plasma features in selected models.

inverter - energy saver (only if recommended use guide is followed)

non-inverter - basic normal air cond

inverter deluxe - deluxe is just a term from the company, its also known as ioniser. This means inverter with ioniser.
