For those with experience with the 3M AP902 outdoor water filter system, how often does the cartridge typically need replacing?  I understand this is really dependant on total household water usage and it varies from family to family.

From the specs, the cartridge capacity is approx 380,000 litres but Malaysia's water is rather dirty so I'm also assuming a shorter cartridge lifespan as well.

If I'm looking at a typical household with 2 adults and 2 children, would the cartridge last 6 months?  I'm located in KL if it helps.

Appreciate the feedback and experiences  smile.gif

What is your monthly water usage? I change my first one cartridge when close to 24 months of usage. We don't use that much water, 8-9m3 per month, and always FOC. Thanks to the Selangor current Government (PKR smile.gif )

I change mine because is long overdue, water pressure still good. You mileage may varied depend your monthly usage and water condition.

My usage is only 3-4m3/mth. With the filter lifetime of 380,000Liter or 380m3, I only require to change 380/4=95mth/12=7.9yrs!

7yrs only change 1 filter. I lagi beh tahan.

Hi weikee, thank you for your support again. If not mistaken you get the free installation for your 3M water filter systems during the expo time right? Please correct me if wrong.

Good news for those who interest in 3M water filter systems, our company XAM MAX will participate together with 3M Malaysia next weekend (23~26 Oct) for our last exhibition at Homedec KLCC in this year.
You will not want to miss the chance to get our very special promotion & package during this fair.
*
Yup, but I recommend you ask the installer to give home owner the option to use brass/metal valve. PVC valve don't last long under the sun. Tell home owner FREE is PVC, add RM xxx, change to brass/metal valve.

I tried checking alkalife lydia 7 website to see for myself the technology that they use to see if it makes any sense at all to be able to cure any sort of illness.

On the website, there's an advertisement on how it cures diabetes / heart related illness / blood pressure/ cholesterol.

FYI, Section 3(1) of Medicines (Advertisement & Sale) Act, 1956 states:

Prohibition of any advertisement referring to any article in terms calculated to lead to the use of that article as a medicine, appliance or remedy for the purpose of
• prevention or treatment or diagnosis of certain diseases and condition of human being as specified in the Schedule (20 diseases)

Included in the list of 20 diseases, there's hypertension, diabetes and heart related illness.

Advertisements should not be exaggerated, false, misleading or deceptive. This sort of advertisement in their website is no different from the brochures we get in supermarket whereby certain product particularly jamu can cure ALL SORTS OF DISEASES ranging from hypertension to cancer to mental illness..

In the website of alkalife there's also an NSF mark which is downright misleading because besides that NSF mark, nothing else in that website has anything to do with NSF certification. alkalife is NOT NSF CERTIFIED So what is the NSF mark doing sitting there at the website?

The only illness it can possibly cure is probably acute dehydration.

Maybe we "Misread" biggrin.gif

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what has happened and whether I can exchange for a new one (warranty) or I have to pay for the repair?

It suddenly stop working and I switch it off and then noticed this happened.

Equipment are made 24x7, may not withstand surged or lightning. Sometime surge will cause electronic to fry and drop.it could also be component faulty, after operating in long hours the compnent heat up and solder melt. Or like other mention build quality. Many possibility. Better send back to claim warranty.

For anything need to run 24x7 I will put a lightning arrestor (Including my fridge). To reduce the chances get fried.

I would ask you turn on 24/7, unless you going outstation like nobody at home for like more than a days to weeks/months. Or whole day nobody at home you can switch off.
*
My aunt unit fried after thunderstorm. Now she never switch it on 24x7. And FYI lightning damage not cover under warranty.

Dont tell me coway is good la, from my experience in my office unit it really dam headache. The so call RO dispenser with hot and cold water after not being used for few days (over weekend) the water will have some kind of smell (like burning smell), change filters twice, and boiler still the same problem. Now claim because is incoming water issue. Than I questions isn't RO have no such issue? 3months now, let see what kind off excuse they give next month.

QUOTE(chickytien @ Feb 20 2015, 12:56 PM)
Coway is a very good filter from Korea that use reverse osmosis (RO) to filter water. RO water is mainly use in manufacturing process or dialysis water for dialysis purposes. It is not recommended for long term drinking purpose as it will cause osteoarthritis (knee pain).

You can see them mainly used in airport, hospital or honda service center as it provides hot and cold function for the convenient.

Another advantage is water with improve clarity and smell, however, it doesn't contain beneficial mineral, very slow water output, doesn't remove bacteria and viruses and will waste a lot of water.

If you just want hot and cold function, you need not pay rm2500-3000 for that, just get a thermal dispenser cost less than rm80 to solve the hot function, and ice cubes from your fridge will give you cold water.

Water filter is an expensive investment, need to choose it right one time, rather than choose it because it is cheaper.
My family and my in laws have been using espring filter for 5 years.

We need water filter because
1) convenient (no need to boil water after filter)
2) safe (remove all health hazardous contaminats including organic contaminants persticides, herbicides, inorganic contaminants like MTBE, VOC, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals drugs by products and all water borne bacteria and viruses.
3) cost-efficient

Hi guys, I stumbled upon this thread while looking for water filters.

currently i am using  COWAY P-07IU , a table top unit

http://coway.com/product/product_view.asp?...2&mcate=&idx=59

Since buying it I only have stable flow of water for the 1st 2 months, after that it was just dripping out.

I bring this issue to the seller since the manual stated the filter can be used for 1 year. He took out the cartridge , back wash a bit and hit on the filter cartridge , and it flows nicely for a day or two.

Since then I have to hit it every day to get stable flow of water, but recently (after 4 months of purchase) , water would only drip out  despite my daily cartridge smacking effort.

I am looking for a alternative table top water filter which is safe to drink out from.  Recommendation plz~~

Thanks ~

Your incoming are too dirty, fix that and replace the filter you are good to do. (I hope)

My mom old amway filter used to have this problem even using external sand filter, pressure drop after 3 months usage. We switch the external filter to membrane, and the amway filter water pressure no longer drop.

I would agree my incoming is too dirty, the water can even clog my heater and washing machine water fliter ( metal web)

Would it be helpful if I a cheap filter before my current filter ?
I am living in shared house (student ), cost are shared so not commited to expansive filters.

You can put a prefilter before the water filter, it will help.
