*
Is 10KG model only.
11.5KG about rm1200-1300. Never ask since my typical daily load about 3-5KG only.

A question for those who upgraded from a conventional washing machine to an inverter or direct drive front loading washing machine, how is your power bill? Did power consumption go down?

I know front loading ones use 1/3rd to 1/2 the water of conventional washing machines.

The next concern is power consumption if inverter or a direct drum one further reduces it.
*
1000l or 1m3 of water for Seremban is rm0.50 while 1KW/h is rm0.30.
A non inverter TL WM for 10kg consumes about 440W/h while an inverter TL for 11.5KG consumes about 480W of power.
An inverter FL requires 900-1500w/h of power.
If you are comparing TL to TL, nope, it dows not bring down the power consumption. Water maybe yes, maybe no.
But maintenance cost wise, inverter cost more, since it direct drive. Split type or with belt, the belt always the first part to fail and you can buy the belt from car spare part shops, usually <rm40. Changing the direct drive can be the belt's 10-20 times more whistling.gif
A typical FL weights about 60KG minimum, so spring cleaning will be a challenge, unless you are not going to clean that part.

I nid a very basic & durable washing machine...
Which brand to go for & how much izit?
Around 7.5kg will do...
Will wash around 3 times / day...
*
Why not get 10KG instead? Then can wash twice only.
Base on your usage, either Panasonic or Toshiba TL will able to fit your bill.

Sure TL like that, don't waste money on FL.
We had a Samseng FL that close to fail after 2 years. But that's company provided, so who cares?

A Front load washing machine does not consume 0.9kW to 1.5kW throughout the wash cycle, this rated consumption is the maximum current draw when the internal water heater is heating the water.

You see, busting myth and lies by fanboys/fangirls already been my hobby in Lowyat forum.
http://www.panasonic.com/content/dam/pim/m...r_NA-140VS4.pdf
Yes, you are right, washing 2KG load do safe more, about 50% from any 10KG TL. But if I were to wash full load, that's double of what TL does doh.gif
http://www.panasonic.com/my/consumer/home-.../na-vx93gl.html
Wait, you are talking on washer dryer combo, no problem also, myth can still be busted whistling.gif
Normal wash requires 2-4 hours to complete the cycle, and most published numbers are based on kw/h. So, it translates to 2 to 3.4kw/h. Again, a TL longest wash cycle is 1 hour and that translates to 0.5 unit per cycle laugh.gif
And I'm doing unfair comparison also, using an inverter FL to compare a non inverter TL.
So, the myth of FL more superior's myth are busted whistling.gif

Am in the process of getting a WM. I'm telling you reading this thread is totally not helping  cry.gif

Can this watch king size bed sheet / comforter?

Wife wants TL because it's cheap, but this pana seems cheap for the price.
*
Because you only spend time on reading fanboy's review.
FL's actual load are only 50-75% from the stated load, detail you need to read the manual.
King size comforter are within the range in terms of weight for this FL, but not size. You still can wash, but it will behave differently whistling.gif
So just get a TL and you no need to worry too much.

oh ya..i am planning to buy a washer that able to wash my king size comforter. what is the ideal capacity? any different of 8kg front load and 8kg top load?

sorry ya..newbie here
*
Sure have difference. An 8kg TL can do 7.5kg without much problem, for FL, the most is 5-6kg. And don't expect it can clean your king size stuffs properly.

10KG TL will fit your bill. Can wash comforter, pillow cover and bedsheet thumbup.gif
A 10KG FL you have to wash 2 times for the same stuffs shocking.gif

I dunno about that having same load but can only clean half load? The top loading require more water because proper cleaning need water up to load level. The FL only need 1/3 water because the machine contents are flipped among themselves. The TL use water to twist turn the contents.

If for heavily soiled clothing, the FL will do better job in cleaning. Vibration many more but new machine now intelligent enough to distribute the load evenly.

Another advantage of FL is that if you decide to buy the dryer, you can stack it on top of washing machine. Can't do that with TL. I suggest that buy separate washer and dryer units. At least if one down, you can still use the other one  laugh.gif
*
You see hor, when I buy something, I will read the manual first whistling.gif
No doubt a FL can boast it can wash 10KG load, but once flipping the manual, bigger items it actually can't wash. I've used a Samseng FL before, rated 7KG but can't wash a queen size comforter that weight 2KG doh.gif
No doubt a FL "save" water, but again after flipping the manual, it only uses 10-20% lesser compare to a TL, that's not even under full load.
An inverter FL consumes more power than a non inverter TL, the difference are 50% more than TL, the TL I bought only requires <460W that clean a full load of 10KG for 50 minutes, while a FL that washes full load of 10KG need 2-3 hours. That's 900W of power per hour or 2 units for complete washing cycle.
Which is more wallet friendly in this economy?

so basically FL is better for cleaning with small capacity + save water and TL is better for big size item + save electricity?  rclxub.gif

Nowadays TL can safe water also. What a FL can do, a TL can do. but what a TL can do(like saving electricity), FL does not really can do.
The new TL I bought this month are quite good, laundries never tangle together, accidentally forgot to remove paper from pocket and it never cause havoc, just a bit noisy since it is using belt.

I agree that TL used more power and usually cost more due to complexity. FL motor needs to work more to flip the load unlike TL, less efford to turn. Load capacity is not the dry load. Once wet it is heavy  wink.gif  Just sales tactic  laugh.gif TL also got inverter. It is not about inverter save more power for me but the motor last longer due to less commutator burn when motor operates.

Cleaning time is subjective for me. It is based on manufacturer study and the result is subjective too. Normally the FL spins at higher speed due to need to make sure the clothing stick to drum. TL less effort required thus normally require longer dry time.

Actually current trend is more and more people going for TL  nod.gif
*
Actually for the same size, TL uses lesser power, since almost all setting are more or less fixed.
For WM, there's not much point and getting inverter, since the power usage difference won't be heaven and hell like air cond rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(Zot @ Jul 21 2015, 04:57 PM)
I agree on this too. I think Tl also have direct drive without using belt if that is your concern, but I think most are quiet enough
*
Using direct drive indeed will be more quiet, but when the motor fails, it can cost you a bomb.
While using belt is the belt will be the first part to go and it will be quite cheap to replace.

QUOTE(adrian0229 @ Jul 21 2015, 04:59 PM)
conclusion, for my requirement, I need at least 10kg to wash my king size mattress + comforter + bedsheet?

I'm using Electrolux for 6 years, recently it decided to go into grave yard d.....lolx

I have to say Electrolux is very good in cleaning clothes, and no wrinkles, good for washing cotton and "good" clothing..

Electrical shop said Electrolux now a days are from China, no longer that good.. they are recommending Hitachi in stead....

All Sifus, any recommendation? Anyone using Hitachi?
*
Sellers that are honest will only ask you to take 1st generation of Toshiba inverter(7 years back) or Panasonic.
They will prevent you on getting Hitachi and Korean brands.

Previously, there is no inverter technology. Now with inverter, the motor warranty is at least 10 years, any brand. As far as I know Hitachi motor can last long.

Most electronics part nowadays are made in China except for part that is high tech that the manufacturers do not want China to copy. So, for an brand, I would bet that they are made in China.

For more new design that is a bit more secret, they are produced in this region as European countries has more trust.

If you don't know on warranty, don't spread bullshit.
Inverter or non inverter, most are still giving the same period of warranty, Panasonic are giving 12 years.
Get your facts right first.

10 years back they already giving 7 years warranty.
Inverter and non inverter are the same, with 7, 10 or 12 years warranty, condition is, you can only claim once in this period.
Is not like you trying to cheat people that only inverter giving 10 years. This is the part I say you are bullshitting shakehead.gif

You arguing about inverter vs non inverter or old vs new?

Now still got non inverter that is giving 10-12 yr warranty, same like inverter type.
*
Not really, from last time before inverter are being introduced, the motor's warranty already have 7 years minimum. And once inverter models are introduced, most manufacturers are even extended the original 7 years to 10 or 12 years.

I not asking whether use low suds or normal detergent for FL WM.

i hv always been using low suds detergent anyway.

My question is whether with bubble wash technology fl wm, do we need to decrease the amount of detergent used?

Bcos i see a lot of suds even though i using same brand n amount if detergent as for my old non-bubble fl wm.
*
Powder wash, bubble wash or whatever wash you can think of, it is still the same, low sud for TL or FL and high sud for TL only.
Or to make it more simple, the manual will tell you what to be used.

Then maybe I'm not aware of that of any. Look at the Samsung warranty on the washing machine I recently bought the Panasonic and did not bother reading tiny print on the warranty card. There are other method to not (less) burn motor commutator even without using inverter.

The reason I said the non-inverting and inverting warranty period are not the same is here. Read the warranty capture below. It is said that the non-inverting warranty is the same as unit warranty. Note that the unit warranty is only 2 years. Only the non-inverting motor is 11 years.
*
Wow, after you tried your very best to twist here and there, it is still stated clearly both are giving 11 years of warranty for motor regardless of inverter or non inverter doh.gif

Did you read properly the capture?

The FL non-inverting motor warranty in only the same as unit warranty which is 2 years. For inverter type motor, Direct Drive the warranty is 11 years part replacement.

For the TL machine, Direct Drive, Inverter, and non-inverting (induction motor) warranty is 11 years part replacement.

Where did I said the same. I think your brain is twisted. The TL non-inverting motor 11 years warranty is the induction motor. I don't want to tell you the difference between normal motor and induction motor or why the induction motor is not used in FL machine.

Next time don't simply think other people are stupid. I'm not twisting anything here, If I was wrong I can admit but I think you just .......
*
Nope, is you that does not understand. Seller will directly tell the buyer motor have 11 years of warranty regardless of inverter or non inverter, direct or non direct all are the same, can only claim once in that period.
My Panasonic is using belt also giving 12 years warranty.
I'm still keeping my warranty card, so your lies are busted whistling.gif
