QUOTE(tralon @ Oct 9 2011, 12:46 AM) Sifus, Is there any tax applicable by custom if one would import fridge from Korea for example? I heard there are so many latest designs and cheaper by almost 40% compared to M'sia and their power voltage is also suitable to use in M'sia. Is that true? How much do you think the shipment be? |

Where got so cheap, unless your goods can be handle rough.
You need to add minimal 30% tax. And S.Korea electric maybe 110v, and 60hz. Voltage is not a problem can get step down transformer but frequency may cause problem. |

QUOTE(tralon @ Oct 10 2011, 11:12 AM) http://treehouse.ofb.net/go/en/voltage/Korea%252C%2BSouth Please check what i wrote again. I mention "maybe" 110v, because in history they have 110 appliance too. Many now have use 220, but there is chance you get 110 too.Korean voltage is 220V 60hz..I have been using MANY korean originated electrical items in M'sia and NONE has ever gone wrong for many years (touch wood....) Pls kindly check yr fact at the door before you blurt out something. As for the tax.. yes..I have no idea.. maybe taxed maybe not,.. that's why if anyone cared to read my earlier post I'm asking whether expensive imported electrical items imposed any duty or not. Cos some small electric items which i ordered online never been taxed before,(ionizer, kettle etc) ...but not as huge as a 650 liter fridge or 48" LED tv, which I'm asking anyone who experienced importing them before. As for the cargo, fragile items is not an issue cos they have insurance.. As for yr idea of the 30%, kindly give me the proof or fact. Also for motor driven items the frequency is important. Korean is using 60hz, 50hz or 60hz is not a problem if your appliance are running DC or being converted from AC to DC. AC motor that drive the compressor are dependent on the frequency. Unless the model you think of getting are Inverter which may not be a problem. http://www.eng-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=1224 I been import lots of things from oversea since the stat of ebay, even Notebooks and Monitors all this are tax free so not a problem. Think I know what i am talking about. So don't look only the voltage check the frequency too. |

Not all new/latest fridge & A/C are inverter.
If you need more exact answer ask forwarder company. Added on October 10, 2011, 10:47 pmAnd, most large electrical appliance especially large one need approval from some government body. Go here http://tariff.customs.gov.my/ and search for refrigerator, is prohibited to come in unless certified. Also from this website: http://www.malaysia.alloexpat.com/malaysia...importation.php Please be informed about the following regulations pertaining to the importation of electrical appliances into Malaysia: 1. QUOTE(iamsobloodysick @ May 24 2012, 11:57 AM) Panasonic NR-BW465 = nett capacity is 395L, the most energy "saving" fridge in the market. MT vs AT is comparing functional. I would think is like side vs centre dash panel in a car. Both have same function but at difference location.Hitachi R-Z490EM-1 and Mitsubitshi MR-F47C and Sharp SJPT591 are categorised as energy "efficient". you cannot compare panasonic with the 3 other brands because inverter vs non-inverter. if you are the user who uses the freezer most of the time, then NR-BW465 doesnt suit you because it gives you trouble. if you are the user who indeed very less frequent use the freezer, then NR-BW465 serves you nicely. there is not pros or cons regarding the top freezer or bottom freezer. more AT cars than MT cars now, why? panasonic is changing the lifesyle. |
