QUOTE
CS: What's been going on since you finished promoting "Hot Fuzz" last year? I know you've been always juggling a couple different projects including "Ant-Man" and "Scott Pilgrim."
Wright: We're in between two different strikes. I don't think anybody really knows what's happening with the (actors strike). Yeah, I've just been writing. I wrote the first draft of "Ant-Man." I wrote two drafts of "Scott Pilgrim." I started to work on a solo project and also me and Simon are… (starts to pause as not to reveal too much.)

CS: The interesting thing about "Ant-Man" is that after "Iron Man" opened so big, there was this huge Marvel Studios bells and whistles announcement of their movies for the next three years and "Ant-Man" wasn't mentioned.
Wright: I think having spoken to Kevin Feige, the "Ant-Man" film I have in mind is a bit more stand-alone, and that's kind of what I wanted to do in a way. I think my take on it is something that may or may not fit into what "The Avengers" would eventually do, but they're very keen on it and they've even talked a release date with me in very vague terms. It looks likely that I will do "Scott Pilgrim" next and then "Ant-Man" straight afterwards.

CS: I want to ask some more "Ant-Man" stuff because besides the release date, there's been a lot of chatter and speculation about what that movie might be like, whether it's a straight comedy or not. Did you look at any specific issues or stories to based the movie on?
Wright: It doesn't really have elements of an entire strand or series, because Ant-Man is a character that over forty years, he's kind of cropped up in various different guises, and it's always interesting to me what elements of the character people latch onto. Everyone seems to latch onto the wife-beater elements. I'm not even sure if I read that particular story. I maybe read parts of it. You know, the only thing is that parts of it touch upon is the whole mythos, and basically, it's the story about Hank Pym and Scott Lang. Our big spin on it is an origin tale for one of them and kind of like a swan song for the other.

CS: Are you going to be able to get the Wasp in there at all?
Wright: In a very roundabout way. We want to sort of leave some things for some future visions or spin-off things as well. It's difficult to tell forty years of Avengers history in one film, and I'd rather concentrate on two or three great characters.

CS: Ant-Man also had the worst villains in the Marvel Universe.
Wright: Living Eraser…

CS: Egghead…
Wright: Like The Protractor… it always seemed like for the first 12 issues of "Ant-Man," it was just the contents of a pencil case.

CS: You could probably make up a villain and it would be better than any of the villains in the comic books.
Wright: I don't think there's any villains from the original comics, I mean Ant-Man standalone, that are like famous enough to… I mean, in a way, one of the things that was sort of a high concept of characters so much is that you don't need to have a Marvel super-villain in the film. Ant-Man is enough in an otherwise kind of real world.

CS: The good thing is that the character doesn't have that many diehard fans, at least not that I know of, although maybe they'll come out of the woodwork when you're at Comic-Con talking about the movie.
Wright: "Hey, you didn't beat his wife enough!"

CS: (laughs) No, no, he really didn't beat his wife at all when he was Ant-Man. That was like later when he had five different personalities.
Wright: I think you got the sense with the original. I had lunch with Stan Lee and it was very interesting talking to him about Ant-Man because he said to me that he always felt like Ant-Man was a character that should have been bigger, and like they made mistakes, even just in the artwork, that sort of prevented him from doing that. It's kind of interesting. He said that he always felt that Ant-Man was a character that had more potential than it ever really delivered on. I like that Cold War stuff, it's great. Ant-Man taking on the Russkies single-handedly, it's funny.

So if this d00d really did make an Ant-Man movie, we won't be seeing the original wife-beater Hank Pym laugh.gif

And my guess, he's gonna cast Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) as Hank tongue.gif

Long time we didn't have any news about Ant-Man until last week's Marvel announcement about smaller budget movies biggrin.gif

QUOTE
Exclusive: When Might We See Edgar Wright's Ant-Man?

Also we wanted to quickly ask Feige about the rumors on CHUD earlier this week, about Marvel Studios looking to make lower-budget movies based on some of the other Marvel characters not currently under license to other studios. Feige kept things close to chest and wouldn't outright confirm or deny, although it certainly seems like a viable option:

QUOTE
"I saw that story the other day, and I was pleased with it," he replied. "It is something that we're looking at the ongoing cinematic universe and where to go after 'Avengers,' which we look at as a beginning and not an ending. Listen, the truth is that there are thousands and thousands of characters. Can they all be movies? No, but when you go and look again at the first two movies that started this new model era. The first one was 'Blade,' which no one knew was a Marvel character and never had his own title, was just an interesting character in 'Tomb of Dracula.' And then there was 'X-Men' which was the top-selling comic at the time for many, many years, and that was done well. So certainly we're making a conscious effort of looking at the characters, whether they have marquee value or not, are just interesting stories and can continue to define, which is what I've been trying to do, almost coming up on ten years at Marvel, to continue to push the boundaries of what a comic book movie is and a definition of a comic book movie.

Adrien Brody as Ant-Man?

Adrien Brody, at least according to two sources, is actively trying to nab the Ant-Man role.

The guy’s a great actor, and he’s already shown he can go genre if he puts his mind to it, so why the (seeming) hesitation on Marvel’s part? Well, knowing Marvel, they’re just trying to get the prices right, which in this case means paying Brody as little as possible for as much work as possible. But since Brody isn’t quite the $20 million dollar actor yet, I’m sure a reasonable deal can be agreed upon if they both want it badly enough.

Ant-Man Movie: Marvel Reveals Test Footage From New Project At Comic-Con

user posted image

Ant-Man may be a lesser-known character in the Marvel universe, but not for much longer. As part of its presentation in Hall H at Comic-Con on Saturday night, Marvel teased test footage from the cult favorite. It looks like director Edgar Wright may have the honor of bringing Ant-Man to the big screen.

Wright joked about the "Terrence Malick approach to superhero movies" before screening a reel from an "unfinished test." In the clip, Ant-Man was seen fighting two men in a hallway. HuffPost's source on the scene described it as clearly in early stages of production.

"'Ant-Man' will kick your ass one inch at a time," Wright concluded. No one has currently been cast.

Prior to Wright's reveal, rumors ran rampant that Marvel would make an "Ant-Man" movie announcement at Comic-Con. During a Comic-Con panel for the short film "Item 47" (part of "Marvel's The Avengers" Blu-ray release), it was heavily alluded to that "Ant-Man" would be unveiled by Marvel on Saturday night.

Wright has been teasing fans for a while, and the "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" director even tweeted a photo of Ant-Man fan art back in May. The project's roots go back even further, however, with references to "Ant-Man" occurring as early as 2006. Wright wrote the script for the film with Joe Cornish ("Attack the Block").

In the Marvel universe, Ant-Man is the superhero alter ego of scientist Henry Pym, who creates a formula that shrinks him down to the size of an ant. Along with his girlfriend, Janet Van Dyne (who later became The Wasp), Ant-Man helped form the Avengers in the comic books. (Unfortunately for Ant-Man fans, that didn't happen in the recently released "Marvel's The Avengers.")

Seen it, but it was doh.gif If indeed it goes this direction, it would be a terrible mistake. Cool concept, but it will get smashed by other worthier superhero flicks.

I dunno if Brody is mainstream handsome enough to be Hank Pym. Too lanky, also that nose.

Hank is supposed to be blonde. Ryan Gosling maybe. But Gosling's acting I'm not too sure of.

First impression; not impressed. tongue.gif The trailer did little to excite... but Marvel has been on a winning streak. Perhaps this could be that 'odd bad Marvel film'. Or they are saving the better bits in future trailer. The trailer seem to set a 'serious tone' to the film which I hope is not the case. Weird casting choices too.

I agree that wasn't too good. Should've just showing off his powers in the trailer. But I guess the effects aren't ready considering the movie just wrapped filming last month.

And the first half sounds wayyy too serious for an otherwise funny poster they are promoting.

Still, I like that the hero has a kid. I don't remember any superheroes who are like that on film.

Why does he want to change the name? It doesn't sound bad or anything.
With a superhero who's an ant, don't think this will be that serious. Marvel loves to add in some silly laughs unlike DC.

I personally find Marvel's early trailers so so. I wasn't excited when I saw the first few trailers for Iron Man, Thor, Avengers, Guardians, but suddenly I was all pumped up and keep replaying the final trailer they released where you get to see everything in its full glory.

Yeah...but I doubt she'll be Wasp in this.

I'm guessing Lang or Pym will take Yellowjacket suit and modified it for her to use at the end of the movie.

Seems like Ant-Man alongside Hawkeye are confirmed to be in Civil War.
Guess we'll finally getting this scene.

Just realized that Yellowjacket is played by the guy who was Peter Russo in House of Cards. I'm starting to think that every actor who's character gets wrecked up Frank Underwood would play bad guys in another series/movie.

Just came back from watching it, overall it was good and funny movie, its a heist movie+ family drama with a twist of superhero element, no prior knowledge abt ant-man is needed but it referrences the prior mcu events

Theres a lot important easter egg and cameos and keep your ears open stay put until the post credit

Overall i give it 7/10, better than the boring darkworld

I have to say this ant man is good

because the story moves forward

instead of hank pym it jumps into Scott lang

but i think they mess up the avengers film

should be ANTMAN first then the rest of the AVENGERS

love the fight between ANTMAN and FALCON

the last part is already shown on the trailer which was a letdown

i mean the yellowjacket didnt give a scratch to ANTMAN

there was some manly shed tears when original ANTMAN said to her daughter about how her mother die .

Overall this movie is better than the crap AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON CRAP

8/10

Pros : Compelling storyline

Cons : Weaker boss

Ant-Man (2015)

This is easily the most UNUSUAL super-hero origins movie I have ever seen!

Why is it unusual you ask?

Well, the beats are more attune to old Shaw Brother's Kung Fu movie rather than an American production!!!?! laugh.gif

So was it good?

YES!

Storyline?

Unusual for an American Movie.

Casting?

Bold. Great to see Michael Douglas up and about.

Evangeline Lilly (whom I mistaken for Liv Tyler. I kept asking myself why did they cast Hulk's Betty as... laugh.gif) looks like she is gonna bust out in Elvish!!

Paul Rudd (who usually as an air of unassumingness), an interesting choice works well as Ant-Man.

And I also need to add, this is probably one of Marvel's most ambitious work, because what they had managed to get on screen (technically speaking), is mind boggling!!!

I suppose what most of you want to ask is, are there "short" in the end credits, and the answer is yes.

Two in fact.

One very shortly after the end credit starts, another right at the end of the whole end credits!!

So in short, it really does not matter what I say here. If you want to watch this, regardless of what I have to say, you will go watch this.

For those who are on the fence, it is a rather fun movie. Very tongue in cheek.

So, apa tunggu-tunggu lagi???

One of Marvel's best....

Actual science was not ignored, and one of the reasons why Marvel (MCU) is better than "Marvel properties with Fox" and DC/WarnerBros...

More believable Science rather than Fiction (of SciFi)...

Spoiler regarding the science/story...

Anna Akana! biggrin.gif Dreams do come true eh... she is an aspiring actress (and the occasional filmmaker + YTuber) taking on auditions every now and then, not bad not bad at all! Hope she gets into bigger roles in the future.

The movie was better than I expected.

The most straightforward and least complicated Marvel outing in recent times.

Paul Rudd really is the Ant-Man, just like how well RDJ is the Iron Man.

I love how the world is when everything shrinks.

The action sequences were pretty cool too.

Humor is thrown around almost every corner, and Michael Pena deserves a special mention!

Surprised by how much "Marvel-ness" tongue.gif this movie had - references to Avengers, etc. and the appearance of one of them was not what I expected. I really thought this was going to be a very 'standalone' film set in the Avengers universe and with barely any mention of the Avengers.

Not bad, not bad at all.

Overall, definitely worth watching.

This was looking set for a 7/10, but I'll bump it up to an 8/10 since it was better than I expected.

8/10

This is a very straight forward action / superhero movie. Entertaining but do drop your high expectations at the door and you'll be fine.

One thing I don't really get is how this will figure in the wider marvel scene at the moment but it's no deal breaker.

Love it!! This is definitely one of the best MCU movie.
Ruis is hilarious.

And I love how alot of the jokes felt natural unlike Ultron. Hope they keep that kind of balance going forward.

Mid-credit and post-credit scenes is HYPE!!!

The whole thing felt so disjointed. Two thirds of run time really slow and stifle with run of the mill soapy TV drama. The only remotely interesting bit is Michael Douglas and Michael Pena. Paul Rudd as Ant Man is as stiff as Chriss Pratt in JW. He can be a lot more charismatic and funny. Wish the whole thing more snappy.
Comes tomorrow I'll totally forgotten about this movie altogether. Moving on to MI:Rogue Nation.

Fun and entertaining movie. Not as good as Captain America : Winter Soldier and not as funny as Guardians of the Galaxy. Still I laughed most of the jokes and Paul Rudd is good as Scott Lang. The performance from Michael Douglas as Hank Pym and Corey Stoll as Daren Cross were the best to me. Easter Eggs for Dr Strange, Spiderman and Civil War is in the movie. Overall 3.5/5

I feel that this is the most fail movie in Marvel series.
It's really boring like hell.
Too many talking scenes. It's kinda obvious that they seems like lack of ideas in this movie. Too many unnecessary scenes.

I saw the people that watched this movie keep yawning and some of them sleep during the movie.

I gave 3/10. Horrible marvel movie series ever.

To those that want to watch this movie. Think twice. The only interesting part in this movie is the Ant only

I get your point but too many talking scenes does not make a film bad. I kinda wonder what if Edgar Wright directed this movie.

Because you said that this movie has ALOT OF TALKING, hence it is boring. So I am comparing this movie with another 'alot of talking' movie, Interstellar. So was Interstellar boring for you as well? Did I quote you wrong?

Haha well some people only like the light-hearted, funny, witty, one-liners marvel movie. I dont hate it because I laughed at most of the jokes but I get why you didnt like it. And to others bashing on xpole, he has his rights to his own opinion because liking a movie is subjective. I accepted that a long time ago when I love Man of Steel while so many other people hated it.

Please, we are not 'bashing' him. We didn't went; 'You ish stoopid! You Marvel hater! Go ddaaaaiiiiii!!'. I am just asking since he said Ant-man is boring due to alot of talking. I am just asking him was Interstellar was boring as well since that movie has alot of talking as well. It's a legit question. So don't go say we are bashing him. Correct, he has his opinion but I am just curious on what he thinks of that other movie.

Chill guys, just a movie, man.

Personally, I don't think this is the best that Marvel has to offer, but still worth a watch.

Pros
I like that it is funny as heck and the characters, or at least Lang's character, is very likeable and you really root for him and his ...... posse, lol .... throughout the movie.

Cons
What I don't like is the piss poor editing. It not only ruined the flow of the movie and made the whole movie feel rushed, it actually ruined a few scenes as well, as the atmosphere was destroyed with the editing just jumping scenes as it wishes.

Anyway... back to the movie

When Scott went into the quantum zone, do you guys notice something?
it's like a map or a picture of something, I think it only shows on a few frames.
I think it will be related to the future MCU movies hmm.gif
One of the infinity stones maybe? hmm.gif

I actually agree with xpole this movie doesn't live up to the hype albeit i think the fighting scene was awesome.
always wondered how ant-man's going to kick some ass.

Someone in the same row with me fell asleep during the movie and he was snoring really loud.
It's not a good marvel movie but not that horrible either. just a 'meh' movie. Still I think it was better than Iron man 3.
IMO, the winter soldier is by far the best marvel movie ever.

nothing much to expect overall

scott lang is awkward

fight scenes definitely deserve a score

like how they portrayed ant-man powers and abilities

starting kinda lengthy, causing me yawning a few times

stay till post-credits if you're hype about 3rd phase (antman is the closing for 2nd phase)

Just got time to watched this today. I got to say, if Winter Soldier is the best in term of seriousness, Ant Man is the best in term of its humour. I really love it, its different unlike other typical Marvel movies. And yeah i do agree with some its definitely 100% better than that sucky Age of Ultron. I rate this movie 4.5/5.

I like Falcon suit in this movie, but i am seriously hoping he does not replace Captain America. Judging by the looks of it, macham ye. Oh i like the tone of the after credit scene, cant wait for Civil War!

Yup agreed with u Winter Soldier is definitely the best out of all Marvel movies. But yeah, i watched GoTG the night before i go for Ant Man, i didn't really laughed as much as i did when i watched the Ant Man, almost everyone in Ant-Man team is funny especially those 3 idiots, haha, Paul Rudd himself is not so bad either, the big ant, Thomas the train, funneh haha. The only scene that i laughed hard the most in GoTG is when they all standing around in circle and Rocket said about them standing around like a bunch of jackass. Haha. That one really gets me. laugh.gif

I think he's referring to the marvel cinematic universe. Fantastic four and x-men are not in the universe due to different studios.

The next sequel will be titled as Ant Man & The Wasp, the 1st MCU with female heroes as in its title movie.

Morning happy.gif

Love the CGI; size comparisons.

Hillarious at some part.

'Ant-Man'...lost track a bit on my childhood memories of the 80's cartoons.

Until I saw the first few minutes of this movie.

"Ohhhh...this is ant-man. Ok. Ok."
laugh.gif

I remember 'Atom Ant' though laugh.gif

And 'Mighty Mouse' laugh.gif

Rudd is just too old for Marvel.

But very experienced actor...that'll do.

Evangeline...always loved her in 'Lost'

She needs to appear more on the silver screen.

of all the marvel heroes, i prefer the punisher because he is most human-physical-body which has no special power but revenge and vengeance brought him to destroy his foes merciless. One of the best character ever created.

Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)

There are complains about super-hero movies.

The critics claims that they are all... the same....

For me, as far as I am concern, the marvel universe movie each has it's own... idiosyncrasy.

What do I mean?

Tony Stark (Iron Man) is I am so rich and brilliant, that it's sexy.

Steve Rogers [Captain America] and his never say die attitude.

Thor learning humility and earning his Hammer (Mjornir... oh wait)... Axe (Stormbreaker).

Stephen Strange [Doctor Strange] learning there is a world outside of Science

Black Panther and his Princely Nobility...

And Ant Man and his.....

Nothing.... I have got nothing.

And I love this movie!!! laugh.gif

This movie moves to it's own rhythm.

And Paul Rudd (I've known him since he played Josh in Clueless (1995))/Ant Man delivers.

What his deliver is je ne sais quoi?

It is fun to see.

Another impressive thing is they had to make Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer young in the movie and it looks photo real

Kudos!

Almost all the elements in this movie works for me.

And there are two mini movies at the end credit.

So, enjoy

My Two Sen

boring show. Marvel fatigue. First marvel movie that I wanna walk out halfway. 1/5

1. bad-acting
2. melodrama involving Scott (antman) and his daughter , given too much airtime
3. not impressive CGIs in the quantum world
4. no obvious villain (bad acting too)
5. comic-relief that is not funny (overdone)

1. Bad acting, how so?
2. Melodrama? I do not think you are seriously watching the show as there are tons of different genres in this movie such as comedy relief, action-packed.
3. Non-impressive CGI? I don't see any defects in the CGI
4. So you want a typical villain in a typical superhero movie?
5. Comic relief overdone? Overall the movie is balanced with the right proportion on the comic relief, serious, family-warm and action packed genre.

Enjoyed it. Definitely one of the funniest Marvel flicks in recent times.

The storyline - Ok, has some weightage with the whole family thing
The visuals - stunning as always, no complaints
The villain - pretty decent, not the run of the mill villain
The action - they were really creative this time with the shrinking/enlarging
The ending - decent

I didn't watch any trailers so everything was eye-opening to me tongue.gif

1st post credits ties to Infinity War
2nd post credits just for the lulz

Overall a great Marvel flick, worth watching.

Comparing the recent most humorous Marvel flicks, between this and 'Thor Ragnarok', I think 'Thor Ragnarok' has a lot more going on. Ant-Man feels a lot more grounded - less interstellary/planetary which isn't a bad thing. It is Ant-Man after all... but don't expect other worldly travels/creatures.

A solid family friendly film although not the most vital Marvel flick.

8.5/10

Of all Dc Comic / Marvel movie, this movie is the worst.
The villian is not villian at the end of the day. she is just want to recover herself.
can't feel the UHMMPPHHH feel.
totally disappointed.
Ant man..he is nothing without his suit.
Anyway, didn't want to watch skyscrapper because it's just jumping from one building to another. but later found that, skyscrapper is way better than antman.

Among all of the Marvel/DC superheroes, Antman is the most grounded superhero that's closest to all of us.

he's not smart, he's dumb at times, he screw up sometimes, but he's got heart, streetwise & very lovable.

no super-villain this time round, but definitely still very enjoyable, the most family friendly MCU movie IMO, and a very good laugh throughout the movie laugh.gif

It was ok.

I did laugh a lot.

It's just that Michael Douglas is way too old; 74.

Even watching him brisk walk were so painful.

Hope he doesn't break anything like Harrison Ford did.

Evangeline looked old too.

Box office: 621.4 million USD
Budget: $162–195 million

What?

laugh.gif

Earlier when she was younger I was skeptical about whom she is.

Nice make-up to hid the age.

After Hank found her...ah...Michelle Pfeiffer.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

For those who supposedly is waiting for this review... sweat.gif

I actually watched this in Thursday and did not think my reviews matter....

This is an expensive movie.

It is very unlike the first two ant-man movies.

They were of more personal nature and this took on the WHOLE quantum realm....

I actually enjoyed the first half of the movie.

What grated me about the movie was
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

My take is the second half of the movie wasn't an ant-man movie and... I actually lost interest...

Wakada Forever was not perfect, because of the situation the filmmakers found themselves in (the actor of the lead character passed away).

This movie has a very high aspiration and some what.... falling flat.

I don't think this is what you guys want to hear, I can only impress on you what is

My Two Sen

P.S. there are two end credit scenes

Worst Marvel movie since Thor 1. They should improve on the writing and script.

Wakanda Forever, Love and Thunder still better than this movie.

Urghh and that MODOK.. What the heck were they thinking.

next time will just watch Marvel movies on Disney+, unless many reviews and pipu say nice.

disappointed with this new Antman movie. Imo feel not worth to go to cinema to watch.

Wakanda Forever much better movie compare to it.
Thor Love and Thunder also kinda meh.

is like after Thanos big fight and many actors quit due to finish contract.. now Marvel Studios lost their mojo. Hope things will improve before they lose more viewers.
