Good news in terms of continuity and perhaps a promising prospect of seeing talented directors and writers taking over. Hopefully, Disney will have creative control over this buy out.

The look on his face just moments after he signed it is as if he just signed a divorce paper.

It's like one those romantic cliche, where you end up having to part ways with someone dear to you. You love her but it's not working out and she's suffocating. So if you truly, truly love her, you have to set her free.

If he truly loved her, he would have made that god awful prequels and rip people off with endless home video releases with 'minor' edits. vmad.gif Honestly, I don't have lots of hope for episode VII, just look where they went with the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. With fingers crossed, I will be proven wrong though.
*
Did you mean he wouldn't have ? I think he did those edits because he couldn't stop meddling with it. Most people would just accepted the flaws and moved on. But not him, he kept trying to 'beautify' his work and there was no end to his obsession. Either that or he became lazy and just wanted to milk every bit of the franchise with those re-edits.

Personally, i don't think anyone could do any worse than Phantom Menace. So in that regard, i think there's a far bit of Hope that we may yet to see the best of Star Wars on the big screen.

If its called Episode VII xxx then it has to be based on the Skywalker lineage. The story is about Darth Vader and his legacy after all. It will be weird if the last trilogy do not connect to any of the previous trilogies.

I don't mind a fresh start but equally, i don't mind a sequel trilogy. I had always wondered what lies after Return of the Jedi so a sequel trilogy really excites me.

Wikipedia definition:
A cult film, also commonly referred to as a cult classic, is a film that has acquired a cult following with a specific group of fans. Often, cult movies have failed to achieve fame outside small fanbases;

- got fan base: check
- some ppl don't like starwars while some die hard fans exist: check brows.gif
*
I think what he's trying to say is that a cult film is normally a film that has picked up a minority fanbase but failed in terms of mainstream popularity. Star Wars was a mainstream success, majority of the audience loved it. So in that regard, it's not a cult film. But you are also right to claim that it has since picked up loyal cult followers.

Robert Zemeckis is not directing Man of Steel, Zack Snyder is. I don't think Nolan is the right director for Star Wars. He's not exactly fond of cgi, so he won't be able to make full use of Lucas's cgi house. I reckon Snyder is a better fit than Nolan when it comes to cgi.

But my personal choice would be Neill Blomkamp. He's amazing at producing cgi at low budget. Imagine him having Industrial Light and magic at his disposal. D9 is perhaps one of the best sci fi movies I've seen post Star Wars. It had everything. Character, action, aliens and most importantly a sense of drama. Which is what Star Wars is all about.

But i read that Kathleen Kennedy is now the main person running the Star Wars series. She has produced a lot of films directed by Spielberg i.e. ET, Jurassic Park, AI, WoW, The Schindler's List, Munich etc. I won't be surprised if Spielberg gets the shoo in to direct the trilogy. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. Spielberg is a cinematic genius and his craftsmanship is second to none. I really hope either him or Blomkamp gets the nod.

Apologies. I read your post as saying he was chosen to direct MoS. In regards to Nolan, i know he wasn't your choice. I was just commenting on Nolan based on your spoiler.

That Matthew Vaughn rumor is very interesting indeed. I really enjoyed both Kickass and Stardust. The latter has a good romantic element but both films are really fun and enjoyable to watch. I wouldn't mind him at all.

Harrison Ford and Carrie looks to be in good shape. Hamill perhaps needs to trim some fat but otherwise he looks fit for a Jedi Master.

Brilliant pick. TS 3 and LMS are 2 top films and were well written. Can't wait to see who they will pick for director.

That's fantastic news for me. The Inquisitors played a huge role in the birth of the Sith and and i was always always intrigued with their stories in Star Wars lore. They became somewhat obsolete and superseded by Sith warriors.

The Force Awaken sounds lame.. dry.gif

The Force Unleashed sounds better. technically TFU is a sequel to star wars saga right...

Yeah TFU was written like a prequel to New Hope. He was the catalyst to the birth of the Rebels Alliance.

I didn't think it was real until i saw the falcon haha but i do love the scenes. Love the x-wings in the attacking formation - Isaac looks like the dude who was flying the snowspeeder in TESB. Also a glimpse of Daisy who seems to resemble just like Padme - i hope she's a skywalker and becomes a great jedi.

But I particularly like the way the sith is shot, it's all dark and menacing. I like the look of the unstable claymore even tho it doesn't make good sense lol. Why would a sith or jedi needs a hand guard, i'm guessing it's meant to be something symbolic. Like an ancient evil awoken from it's slumber.

Overall it's just a tip of the iceberg. But i like what i saw.

It was in the SW canon

Light saber hand guard/hilt
*
I like the look of it. I'm leaning towards the handguard being an incendental effect of the design. It happens to look like a hand guard but perhaps the more practical reason is that the 2 side exhaust thing is supposed to vent out excess energy from the unstable crystal. Hopefully they will show why it was designed such way but i'm really not bothered by it.

Other than that, i love the Sith scene. The way he walked and then hunkered down ready for a fight is already so different from all the jedi/sith postures we seen before.

Also, is Kira really her name ? That's the name of my jedi sidekick in SWTOR biggrin.gif

Revisiting the concept that was commissioned..

Darth mysterious/Jedi in a robe here has a artificial hand, almost scarred to the face .... Question..is Luke to be the new vader? Or this mysterious cloaked cyborg is.. adam driver's baddie character?

cloaked figure holding darth vader helmet

I don't think Luke will be a villain. It makes no sense he would be so obsessed with the helm when he himself cremated his father. My guess is that he's going to be missing for a large portion of the TFA before revealing himself in the most spectacular way and the audience will cream themselves.

one question open for all..

how to differentiate between the dark jedi and sith?
*
If you simply ignore the EU, sith generally refers to the opposite sect of the Jedi Order. The term Dark Jedi is never used in the official films and anime AFAIK although clearly some characters like Ventress is a dark jedi .. there can never be more than two sith; a master and an apprentice.

In EU, dark jedi is a term usually describing a jedi (whether fallen or not) who practices basic dark side of the force but not necessarily trained or branded as a Sith. The origin of the Sith refers to a humanoid species known as pureblood (or red) sith. This species committed themselves to lesser art of the dark side of the force and was mostly tribal in nature. Some dark jedi found them and ruled them as sith lords which gave birth to the sith empire. The Sith empire evolved and developed rules and codes just like the Jedi Order - it's members are trained to master the full art of the dark side of the force where as Dark Jedi are usually denied such training.

Awesome teaser! Looks like the saber 'tradition' continues. Luke received his father's saber in Original Trilogy. Now this new jedi (speculative) looks to receives the same saber in the teaser.

Also the chrome trooper looks so badass. Somehow he or she reminds me of Boba Fett.

Technically, I think it's not the same sabre.

Luke got his father's in A New Hope but lost it at the end of Empire Strikes Back when Vader cut off his hand.\

The one he used in Return of The Jedi was built by himself.

Anyways, I wonder what would happen if the mysterious hooded guy in the trailers turns out to be female? laugh.gif

Yeah i'm referring to Anakin's saber, the one Luke lost at Bespin. It looks to me like someone found his saber and is passing it to another person in the teaser.
