Yeah agree.. just cheaper by a bit only..
nVidia is crazy...
*
by a price cut, nvidia is able to, at least, gain back a little portion of market share.
i can't imagine the senario w/o a price cut.
nvidia is just desperate now.

hmm..why ATi launch 4850 2gb version?
*
i think ATi din't launch 2GB version, it just gave its partners some room of "creativity".
2GB, is just a technology showcase, i guess.

copper not good in radiating heat i think. Unless u got uber fan to keep the copper temperature down, if not pointless for full copper. Copper ramsink should be fine.
*
i think tats the design problem of duoOrb, but not copper's problem.
copper is good in radiating heat, if not, zalman would not introduce so much copper based coolers.

QUOTE(Kytz @ Aug 8 2008, 11:18 AM)
from what i've read
heat dissipation doesnt depend on the material
heat transfer from the chip to the heatsink is different though, copper definitely wins there
but aluminium is definitely lighter, cheaper and easier to make
*
ya, i agree with it.
take a look here:
http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/eng99/eng99038.htm

"Copper is better because it's a better conductor of heat. The best by
far is diamond. It's thermal conductivity, especially at very low
temperatures, is unbelievable."

QUOTE(zhen^wei @ Aug 8 2008, 11:27 AM)
like previous, iceq cooling act better in lower down the temperature.
cas HD4850 normal edition idle 70-80C, playing crysis can hit 100C until the game crash
sweat.gif
as what i know, the heat at the copper base, need use aluminium to spread the heat or using strong fans to spread it..
without proper spread out the heat, copper is useless
*
not to say useless, just tat it may not be so effective and efficient.

My opinion is not as stable as Nvidia series but a lot cheaper than Nvidia offering. That is why many go for it.
*
9800 is around RM500 now, but, i doubt much people will go for it.

*
the non-reference versions are not widely available yet...
you can get a GS from lehteck, or a IceQ4 from zhen^wei.
IceQ4 would be an eye-candy if you have a transparent side panel. rclxms.gif drool.gif

I'm talking in terms of the cooler...duh!!
*
i dun think the cooler is sux too.
if amd allow it to adjust speed automatically, it would be not bad.
a lot of users can keep it at an acceptable temperature by setting the fan speed manually.
