QUOTE(lilredridinghood @ Jul 18 2008, 10:01 AM) ironically, after comparing Optus' price to the Vodafone's price, both prepay available prices, after conversion, Optus is cheaper than NZ's. Optus 16GB=AUD859 whereas Vodafone 16GB=NZD1129 conversion rate to Malaysian Ringgit 1 AUD = RM3.10 whereas 1 NZD = RM2.50 That's the rough figure You forgot the unlock code charge, add in AUD80. Also on top of that, you're required to wait up to 10 days for Apple to send the unlock via iTunes. Compared to NZ, already unlock out of the box, activated to be used with any sim card. So that's AUD939, based on your number. Care to retract that statement of yours? This post has been edited by stringfellow: Jul 18 2008, 10:11 AM

Trust me, I've done my research. If the same deal in NZ is available in Australia, I've gotten it there already. We go Australia more often than NZ, with 5 destinations summore. Better 5in1 chance than 1to1 in NZ, isnt it?
People dont understand, that for those who "touch and go" like me, the notion of waiting for 10 days for the unlock code is not welcoming, in fact it is more troublesome. I have to call Optus, hassle them to work faster, which in turn hoping they hassle Apple for the unlock code. Look at how many middle man you have to go through. NZ? ZERO! You go, you buy, you use. Easy.

QUOTE(psyeo @ Jul 18 2008, 02:07 PM) OMG, optus prepaid vs Vodafone NZ outright again =.= but u'll need to top up AUD80 for the unlock code , calculate that and see AUD939 + if u're in nz, then buy it in nz (assuming that u're in wellington) and if u're at aussie buy it there then, save all the transportation cost and fuel (be more environmental conscious, haha, add in the carbon footprint and see which one is more worthwhile ) didn't know that we need to top up the AUD80 to unlock, as for transport, I was hoping to get it in Aussie when I visit my brother there. Thanks Same goes to stringfellow, thanks

No problems. If you have someone there staying in Oz, then things are easier. But the price and convinience of getting it unlocked is still better on the NZ side.
