wow...RM10k+ also not enuff? i've less than that in my acc right now when i submitted it. my tour agent ask for much more docs, like my pay slips and even my marriage certificate (coz i'm going with my wife for honeymoon there...although i wonder if it really matters), just in case. the agent says that i'll know by today if my docs will be accepted or not (of coz, visa approval not yet lar). if i do not receive a call from her, then it's good news. sweat.gif

Gila ke 10k not sufficient ? What will happen to those poor backpackers who plan to sleep in cybercafes and Hotel McD ? No chance to visit Nihon ?

Thanks for the guide, guys. I hope to visit Tokyo by March-April 09, in time for sakura tongue.gif

If just using Yamanote Line, isn't Japan East Rail Pass more worth it ? The JR Pass is 28.8k yen !! wacko.gif

p/s: Oh yea happy birthday Tanoshi ! Otanjoubiomedetougozaimasu tongue.gif

If you're not visiting anywhere else besides Tokyo, then don't bother buying any rail pass cause it won't be worth it.
JR Yamanote line is one of the cheapest so you can just buy the ticket to your desired station. They start from 130 JPY to about 250 JPY (depending on the distance) so even if you take it 4 times in a day - the max it'll come out is only 1000 JPY.

Ah didn't know that, thanks for the pointer. So, it's better to get those prepaid card instead ? I prefer to have less hassle, my Tokyo schedule is very tight tongue.gif

You might wanna get the Suica card at the airport... check this out:
(Suica + NEX) - http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/suica-nex/index.html

I think it's a pretty good deal (normal train from Narita airport to Tokyo is about 1100 JPY but takes extra 20+ minutes and also you gotta change trains which might be confusing and a hassle if you have a few luggage). Applying at the Airport also makes it easier as you can return it for your refund when you get back to the airport during your departure.

Just my 2 yen opinion. wink.gif
*
Noted. And the Suica card's display pic looks awesome rclxms.gif

Mentioning about luggage, i read somewhere that luggages can be sent to your accomodation beforehand, so you don't need to carry your luggage all the way to Tokyo Station. Is there such a service ?

Nice pics of Kyoto there, Asuk.

And oh, Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha to all lowyat Muslims in Japan ! Ade sembelih kat sana ? tongue.gif

Hi friends,

I will be staying in Hotel Vintage Shinjuku in Kabuki-Cho. Just wanna check if there's a nearer train/subway station apart from the JR Shinjuku station. The hotel looks pretty far from the shinjuku station when I check from google maps.
*
Wow you are staying in kabuki-cho, of all places laugh.gif tongue.gif

Guys, any ideas where to stay in Asakusa ? Im thinking ryokan, but most choices i've seen are house/shop converted. Not really ancient Japanese ryokan. And i doubt they serve kaiseki-ryori.

Between Keisei Skyliner and NEX, which one is more accessible if i were to transit from Narita to Asakusa?

Too many questions asked; gomen kudasai all senpais here blush.gif

Btw, coming to Japan, must at least try Abe-ten (nasi udang) at Ten-Ya restaurant rclxms.gif

My favorite food in Japan, yo! icon_rolleyes.gif
Mahal giler lol laugh.gif around 780 Yen per plate tongue.gif
If ask for extra rice (just say 'gohan o omori desu'), it will then be 880 Yen biggrin.gif
They'll give a bigger bowl for you.

That's still cheaper than eating at Robataya in Roppongi biggrin.gif

Wow you guys posted really tempting pictures drool.gif

Have a few questions here, senpais:

1. Which airline is the cheapest to Narita from KL (direct) ? MAS 3.4k wacko.gif
2. Any idea on cheap capsule hotels near Taito ? (around 2500 yen)
3. Is it okay to overnight in McDonalds or Starbucks ? tongue.gif

Thanks!

1. If you want cheaper, fly to somewhere in China using Air Asia, then transit flight to Narita laugh.gif
I've never tried it, but since its possible, I think I'm not the only one that knows this biggrin.gif
The only problem is just the timing of the flights -- as some here would have already experienced, Air Asia may have long delays, so best not to buy your continue flight from China to Tokyo too near to your landing time in China. My suggestion is to stay one night in China, fly to Tokyo the next day. Its added work though to apply another visa to enter China, but hey, at least that's what you gotta do if you want cheaper flights biggrin.gif

2. No idea laugh.gif not alot of us here had stayed in capsules in Tokyo itself tongue.gif
But since the area are filled with Akihabara, Ueno & lots others, I think you can find alot of them, so that you can compare costs.

3. I've *seen* people sleeping in 24hrs McD before laugh.gif
Went there after midnight to buy something.
Whether its okay or not, I have no idea.
*
Fire, JAL provide flights from KLIA to Narita ? The China way is too much hassle, additional visa rclxub.gif

Ive checked out on numerous capsule hotels in Ueno and Akiba; all damn exp (3-4k yen).

Im thinking of sleeping in McD for the lulz; make my trip more epic abit tongue.gif Just sked kena tangkap polis...
