wow...RM10k+ also not enuff? i've less than that in my acc right now when i submitted it. my tour agent ask for much more docs, like my pay slips and even my marriage certificate (coz i'm going with my wife for honeymoon there...although i wonder if it really matters), just in case. the agent says that i'll know by today if my docs will be accepted or not (of coz, visa approval not yet lar). if i do not receive a call from her, then it's good news.

If you're not visiting anywhere else besides Tokyo, then don't bother buying any rail pass cause it won't be worth it.
JR Yamanote line is one of the cheapest so you can just buy the ticket to your desired station. They start from 130 JPY to about 250 JPY (depending on the distance) so even if you take it 4 times in a day - the max it'll come out is only 1000 JPY.

You might wanna get the Suica card at the airport... check this out:

I think it's a pretty good deal (normal train from Narita airport to Tokyo is about 1100 JPY but takes extra 20+ minutes and also you gotta change trains which might be confusing and a hassle if you have a few luggage). Applying at the Airport also makes it easier as you can return it for your refund when you get back to the airport during your departure.

Just my 2 yen opinion.

I will be staying in Hotel Vintage Shinjuku in Kabuki-Cho. Just wanna check if there's a nearer train/subway station apart from the JR Shinjuku station. The hotel looks pretty far from the shinjuku station when I check from google maps.

1. If you want cheaper, fly to somewhere in China using Air Asia, then transit flight to Narita
I've never tried it, but since its possible, I think I'm not the only one that knows this
The only problem is just the timing of the flights -- as some here would have already experienced, Air Asia may have long delays, so best not to buy your continue flight from China to Tokyo too near to your landing time in China. My suggestion is to stay one night in China, fly to Tokyo the next day. Its added work though to apply another visa to enter China, but hey, at least that's what you gotta do if you want cheaper flights

2. No idea not alot of us here had stayed in capsules in Tokyo itself
But since the area are filled with Akihabara, Ueno & lots others, I think you can find alot of them, so that you can compare costs.

The 1st time I came to Japan is direct flight with JAL, cheaper than MAS (i think its bout RM2-3k diff) lupa lah..but then I didnt like JAL stewardess lol   no so friendly but that time I dont bother huahaha so many friendly chicks lol when I landed.
