- L e O - , suppose stock part always the best, because the design come out from professional engineer ... and if u change rim, void the warranty instantly ... wink.gif

pro and con ... think deeply

it depends on what part. Tak kan the black steel rim is nice? sweat.gif

for the bodykit part i understand, but change rim void warranty? please do some research, get your facts right and do not give wrong info to the others.

From my understanding, if u touch and wiring at the engine bay, such as installing amplifier for ur ICE setup, yes it will void ur warranty,

installing rims, change HU, install bodykits, it will not void ur warranty, ofcourse u can correct me if i'm wrong.
*
LeO, sorry to correct you but changing rim does void the warranty for suspension. Yea.. it may seems weird and absurd but it actually happened to me when i first changed my rim. My stock absorber kong and go toyota SC and they refused citing the 16" rim is too heavy causes the absorber to worn out (in less than 1 year new car). After much arguing, they finally replaced for me but things doesn't goes well too... as the same side gives problem again after a few months of driving. Finally got fed-up of it and change to coilover.

of course warranty is not on whole car ... but is those parts that you mention ...

btw, even add those UR bars like anti roll bar also void the suspension warranty ... laugh.gif

Vios is CBU Thailand lahhh...Vios is not CKD-ed!
Well, dont you think the Vios now is expensive? Alot of ppl say its overpriced, thats bcause CBU frm thailand...
*
what makes u think that Vios is assemble in Thailand and what source u can prove that its asemble in Thailand...
Vios is solely assemble in Malaysia for Malaysia market... previos model, current model and future models...
The production plant in shah alam now mainly focus on Vios Assembly and they even installed advanced robotic equiptment in order to produce
higher volume and better quality control vios especially on this new vios.

very simple question to Vios owner... do u have AP for your Vios when registering? only CBU vehicle need AP... if ur Vios needs an AP to register then ur Vios is the 1 and the only unit which is CBU from Thailand... sweat.gif

Thanks for correcting, but, if change to 15 inch rim (same size with stock G and S), will it still void the warranty for the abosorber?

About warranty, depends on how you going to take good care of it.

If you drill hole on your car body for bodykit installation, GT-Wing and spoiler, car body warranty void if I'm not mistaken. It's like if there's is something wrong with your car, car body rattling noise, they will not check for you because you are already drill a hole on it.

About wheels, if you change the wheels, suspension warranty void. Absorber leaking they will not claim for you. If you change your rim to other rim, when absorber leak, try to borrow or switch back to original rim then only go back to service center to claim.

All information above is I got it from my club.

Isn't those assembled Thailand also considered CKD??? Besides, you best bet is to check the manufacturer's statement. Even the Camry and Accord is CKD.

Anyhow, apart from that, those from ASEAN coutries have quite big differences in tax structure.

You might want to wonder Lancer CBU against Civic CKD?

Sup fellas!

I'm trying to decide if I should get the S or the J spec.

There are three conditions:
1. must have dark grey and black interior
2. must be auto
3. will go for better resell value (or less depreciation) - question: will the J or S have more depreciation? There seems to be an increasing awareness of safety, would the J spec devalue more than the S spec due to this? Again, there are also people who don't care? What you think?

THE DIFFERENCE:

S Spec (RM88,325)
-15" alloy rims
-disc brakes
-two air bags
-integrated audio system (can automatically adjust sound volumes to speed), 6 speakers
-leather steering wheel (with volume control)
-more blings blings - spoiler, side skirting, foglamps, dashboard meter has better lights, automatic foldable wing mirrors, remote control to open trunk
-other gimmicks - leather knobs on audio system, signal lights on side wings, etc

J Spec
-14" steel (RM73,000+)
-front disc, rear drum brakes
-no air bags
-non integrated audio system, 4 speakers
-urethane steering wheel (no volume control)
-no bling blings - no spoiler and skirting, no foglamps, manual foldable wing mirrors

Both specs are affordable. Of course, the J spec will allow me to have some extra cash available.

You are having exact dilemma that I had when I decide to buy Vios.

My requirement was also same like yours;
- Only want black interior (beige is not my taste, I fell beige is family drive while black is sporty drive)
- Must be Auto (i had fed up with Malaysia's Highway Traffic especially peak hours, manual will make me more tired)

Further to that, I had few additional requirement;
- 4 Disc breaks as I drive like mad cow and strongly depend on the wheel breaks, it must not disappoint me.
- Maximum on it's class (this is because when I drive on street and another Vios comes close, I will definately compare my Vios to that, if in case I driving J while that Vios is G or S, I will fell sick! I won't get the satisfaction and will fell like losing in class while although I am driving Vios)

So, finally I end up falling in love with Vios S and got it already.

I fell it so nice, the car is flying me away! But still there is no way to compete with Honda City (vtec). But satisfaction is there!

But one thing I am sad until today about this Vios S is; "THE MOST STUPID PLAYER". Although it had the cool look, integrated control on steering, blasting 6 speakers but still so "back dated".

Believe or not that the MyVi premium (less than 50k) comes with integrated player that support Bluetooth and USB! How cool is that?

Toyota giving me only CD/MP3 player. Sick, no USB, no bluetooth, no dvd.

The worst part, I cannot change it! I tried googling around bout no luck, do any other Vios onwers knows how we can change Vios S integrated player and put simple DVD player?

I think Toyota should focus more in car entertainment because we Malaysian do care about it!

If Toyota had include DVD player in the S class and make the price 95k is also still worth it.

Conclusion:
- Go for J if you want to change to better player
- Go for S for class and breaking system

if u seldom go for highway or long distance trip, J variant is enough... but J variant need to change the sport rim.
bear in mind S and J variant with the gap of RM15k... so if u have decent budget, feel free go for full spec.
in term of depreciation, i think is about the same, calculating based on percentage. same goes theory but more expensive car will cost larger depreciation. same as buying a kancil u will lose smaller amout of money instead of buying 100k car.

I'll never compromise on safety first. If I met with a terrible accident, that will be the time I am glad to have chosen NOT vios J model. Yes, you pay a premium for safety, but how can someone put a price on a life?

I'd rather suffer a few years paying the premium for a better model than enjoy a few short life then fall flat on my back. Think about it.
