Sup fellas!
I'm trying to decide if I should get the S or the J spec.
There are three conditions: 1. must have dark grey and black interior 2. must be auto 3. will go for better resell value (or less depreciation) - question: will the J or S have more depreciation? There seems to be an increasing awareness of safety, would the J spec devalue more than the S spec due to this? Again, there are also people who don't care? What you think?
THE DIFFERENCE:
S Spec (RM88,325) -15" alloy rims -disc brakes -two air bags -integrated audio system (can automatically adjust sound volumes to speed), 6 speakers -leather steering wheel (with volume control) -more blings blings - spoiler, side skirting, foglamps, dashboard meter has better lights, automatic foldable wing mirrors, remote control to open trunk -other gimmicks - leather knobs on audio system, signal lights on side wings, etc
J Spec -14" steel (RM73,000+) -front disc, rear drum brakes -no air bags -non integrated audio system, 4 speakers -urethane steering wheel (no volume control) -no bling blings - no spoiler and skirting, no foglamps, manual foldable wing mirrors
Both specs are affordable. Of course, the J spec will allow me to have some extra cash available.

Don't like to get creases on my leather shoes Added on July 9, 2008, 11:34 pmQUOTE(yuktsi14 @ Jul 9 2008, 11:29 AM) E and G spec have beige color seats and finishing. Not my taste. If I'm not mistaken, another difference is still there.
S spec is CBU from Thailand; J spec is CKD in Malaysia
Correct me if I'm wrong.
If I choose J spec, I will have extra cash for extra accessories like adding minor sound system, bodykit, wheels and AutoFoam to make the car sounds more solid-like.
Cheers.

But then I thought the all new one is CBU from Thailand? Correct me if I'm wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong. Old or new Vios, it's all CKD Previous Altis and Camry are CKD but now new ones are CBU from Thailand I did my training there, saw it with my own eyes. Convincing enough? I think take J spec enough. After that go to change a beauty 16" sport rim will be cool. Air bag or disc brake not important la if u are "ikut peraturan" driver. About depreciate value, J spec still win wat.

err...i rather go for Jspec...can get those auto indicator mirrors outside, slam 15-16 inch den fit foglights, den aftermarket alarm and audio...wahlah..and maybe you still have few $$ left rather than pay more for an S badge...dun really know about the CKD and stuff..but if auto J is more worth it..comes with same engine..and when the heck you got use the airbags or ABS...no one ask you drive like an ass on the road...hehe...depreciation nowadays no need talk la...market so bad...haha

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jul 9 2008, 11:31 PM) i tot J spec is manual?but is like kosong ais inside tht car J has ABS, BA and EBD and same body. Only thing missing is airbags, and other ornamental stuff like builtin player and indicator lights at reverse miror. Please go to toyota.com.my and read the specs properly first before talking nonsense. And the rims are not made of alloy. Manual over S? Manual wins, hands down. But if you prefer they have J auto as well but wihtout airbags. This post has been edited by beatlesalbum: Jul 10 2008, 12:10 AM

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jul 9 2008, 11:31 PM) i tot J spec is manual?but is like kosong ais inside tht car i think you need to treat the vios J as the old iswara, also kosong inside, the cheapest sedan for proton family, same to vios J, the cheapest japanese sedan ... but why it is sold at RM69k++ ? think you know the answer for me, the pro is at least toyota sell cheaper car to those people that gila gila japanese car ... before the price reduction in 2006, a kosong vios E was sold at crazy RM80k++ ... now is 10k cheaper
