Getting back to the topic of this thread, you guys should check Chris Feneer out. Quite possibly one of the best guitarists on Youtube.

I have never seen anyone cover Technical Difficulties this good and even put some of his own licks in there!!!

I'd prefer a Les Paul anytime. biggrin.gif

Anyway, here's a video of me. Please forgive my mistakes.

Nice job dude, very good for a 14-year-old. I'm jealous, at that age I was still listening to Britney and thought the electric guitar didn't exist. sad.gif

RG550 is a great guitar. Its basically a pre-Prestige version of the current Prestige line.

Whats the diff between the reissue 550 and the 1980-90s 550
*
Its basically the same, unless I am missing something. But the reissue is quite rare, so is the original though. Whichever one you can get your hands on for the right price, get it!

main difference...
the early ones had those blocky neck joints like fenders.
the newer ones have the AANJ joint.

some dont like the AANJ cos theres less wood, so less tone.
but its basswood, what tone? tongue.gif
*
*Looks at his basswood RG*

Hey, basswood isn't that bad. Haha, but yeah, the AANJ is definitely a step-up from the Fender-ish joint. I hate those things, makes my small hands feel even smaller.

Added on September 13, 2008, 3:33 amAnd holy crap, Jackson FINALLY updated their 2 year old catalog. 2008 version is out!!!

*runs around in circles*

Really? Probably never noticed because I thought they were never going to update it. Everytime I went to the site, they always has the "Brand New" Summer 2006 catalog. blink.gif

Damn, Tornado of Souls is the toughest solo I've ever learned. It makes even Kissing the Shadows seem like child's play. sad.gif

Maybe I'm just not used to Friedman's style I guess, spent way to much time on learning to play like Alexi. sad.gif

what guitar? strat? buzzing with single coils are pretty common, especially with high gain ...
*
No man, that is humming. You're confusing hum and buzz. If its buzzing, its either the frets or the saddle at the bridge. Most often its the frets.

eh fatboythin,got your rr24 yet?
*
Grrr, you just made me cry. Haha, not yet man. And I'm choosing the Jackson Stars RR-TN02 instead of the RR24. Had to spend all my guitar fund on something else, so now I'm starting to save back from scratch. I've set a target by next May/June. If I don't get it by then, I'm going to commit suicide. sad.gif

Based on the amps mentioned, I assume you play metal? Then get the Roland Cube 30.

Well if rock, then your two best choices are the Vox Valvetronic and the Roland Cube. Better to get the 30W version of these amps. Between that two, its totally up to you which you prefer. You can't go wrong with either. biggrin.gif

Been listening to Shogun these past few days, and I'm SOOO loving it! Not as good as Ascendancy, but still a great album. Better than Death Magnetic IMO. The apprentices did one over their masters. thumbup.gif

all you metal shredders out there,

share some light on how you manage to sync your picking with your fingering. Im having so much trouble, trying to play Racer-X's Scarified, the chorus is just a pain in the ass. Yet, when you see how its properly done, it doesnt even look fast! Ffs.

So yeah, how'd you manage to do it?
*bonus, anyone has a video of them playing Scarified? i would love to see it
*
Currently learning Technical Difficulties, but still a way off before I'm able to be able to post a video. But about the syncing, your best friend is a metronome. Start slow, and slowly pick up speed. Practicing triplets would be a good start, since PG does a lot of them. I know, these are what people always say. But there is no other way, you HAVE to start slow and be patient. Haha, good luck.

EDIT: Another important thing to master is not to lift your fingers off the fretboard too high. This is mainly what most people overlook. And the problem is, most people are too used to it, its quite hard to relearn this technique and hover your fingers close to the fretboard instead. Even I am having a really hard time with this, should have started earlier. sad.gif
