they sound good.
and the more important questions: where can i test them and how much do they cost?

however still prefer the tone of a breedlove.

Added on October 11, 2008, 3:21 amoh just realised they have eric mongrain on their artist list. looks like eric mongrain is on alot of guitar manufacturer's artist list.

for those of you that dont know, PRS even built a custom acoustic for him. yes, an acoustic PRS with all the bling bling that comes with a PRS
*
Testing them, I guess we won't be able to find them in Malaysia =(
But they cost around 2000USD moves up from around there.
Bout the same range as Breedloves customshops.

QUOTE(azrinarizz @ Oct 11 2008, 02:13 PM)
I plan to fix Emg85 at the neck and 81 at the bridge
Is it recommended? or is there any other style to uput
Enlighten me please sifus smile.gif
*
If I recall correctly, most of Craftman guitars, LP copy or not sports an alder body. The LP copy I recall it having a maple neck.
An 81 in the bridge would render the guitar very shrill. It's all down to personal preference though, if you like your distortion sharp like an ice pick no one is gonna argue with you that you like it.
Note that actives are relatively sterile sounding due to their hifi-ish nature, so keep that in mind.

QUOTE(fatboythin @ Oct 11 2008, 04:26 PM)
Yea, listen to trix. And since you're into metalcore, actives would be good. But what amp do you have? Actives don't sound too good through SS amps, but I heard the Blackouts are better than EMGs on SS amps. And don't get the Invader, it doesn't really sound good from clips I've heard.
*
Invaders are pure mud. But it might work on the Craftsman since its an alder body and maple neck.
But I'm still not fan the Invaders =p

QUOTE(wreckens15 @ Oct 11 2008, 06:42 PM)
oh really?
i though i wanna copy synyster gates his schecter axe
lol
emg 81/85 is too common
any other suggestion for metal?
how bout dimarzio JOE and PAF?
*
Dimarzio PAF pro and PAF joe? or PAF fred n PAF joe?
Totally wrong combo for a uber sounding metal axe.
paf joe has a very rounded tone, sort of like a PAF but with more detail low end and rounded high notes
fred is a more dynamic slightly less hot paf pro. sporting a little more pronounced midrange
PAF pro, well, balanced and cuts through very well (not in a trebley sense)

to be dreadfully honest?
if you really like actives, it doesn't really matter if its too common, since it's the tone you wanna nail anyway.
Just use your fingers and amp and make them your own tone.

Anyone uses dual SD 59's for their les paul? I can use some comments.

More importantly if anyone wants to trade their SD '59 bridge for a Dimarzio Super Distortion, please do pm me.
*
I have a duncan Custom 5 in my bridge
basically voiced similarly (almost identical infact) to the '59 but much much hotter

basically its very PAF like with slightly recessed mids and slightly thinner highs
harmonics don't jump out like the JB does, but by all means it's still quite dynamic.

I can't really comment on how the '59 on the bridge will play like, but from the custom 5 I'd say you'd be in for a good genre of songs
ranging from blues, hard rock and all sorts around there. Roll off the tone, you won't be hitting semi-hollows jazz but think Santana-ish type of woman tone.
You can actually get metal tones out of it, but you need your amp to do most of the work for you (and probably some pedals)
so it's quite versatile. Well, in terms of tone.

I play on my lp mainly gary moore, and randomly jamming to some tracks, sometimes from Mr.Big to some Satch.

How the '59 would play I guess it'll be quite different.

Hope that gives you a rough idea.

Meaning the neck is too relieved ? (As in the neck is curving upwards [same direction as the fretboard]), did I phrase that well enough?
**scroll down to have a pictorial description
Sure can set back straight, tighten the truss rod.

If you aren't comfortable or confident enough with doing it yourself just send it to a tech, it's better that way.

is it very very obvious?
but i think it's quite pricey, given the condition

as it is, the yen has been quite strong lately 45 k yen + 10 k for shipping
should bring to about 1.9k MYR
plus if you wanna service add say 200 ?
2.1
you prolly can get second hand fender japans around
but not sure with texas specials anot larh or even alder bodies

i dunno man, it's still very much your choice

QUOTE(Namqul @ Oct 23 2008, 08:57 PM)
found this comment on youtube:

you can put fender custom shop pick ups in a mim strat and the only difference there would be is mexicans making a fender in mexico and mexicans making a fender in california.

lol~
*
Lol!!
But there's some truth in there. Differences in wood quality does make some difference in tone, but the major difference from woods comes from age. So yeah, a 2008 MIM Strat with Texas Specials and a 2008 MIA Strat with Texas Specials probably would have a +/- 10% difference in tone.

Playability and quality control, well that's a different story.

Heh, good joke though.
