The last time I was Hong Kong and had time to go check out Tom Lee, it was closed doh.gif

Prices should be about the same though.

Added on September 8, 2008, 12:24 pmSigh, just got budget for a new guitar (even though my Razorback hasn't come in yet tongue.gif) and torn between an Ibanez Semi-hollow at bents (or maybe an Epi Dot) or with the Epi Elvis guitar....

the razerback not important tongue.gif
as for Epi Dot? why not the Epi casino? at least u will then get P-90s.
or even the Epi wildkat, which im surprised is in production, which is like the Gibson ES-339 in size.

All over my budget tongue.gif

Only have around RM1500 for a new guitar. Razorback 255 already paid for. Just have to collect it once I'm back from Europe. I'm leaving this Saturday at 2 in the morning, so you'll all be in the very capable hands of EchoBrainProject.

Like always, will check in when I can find a good WiFi connection.

blacktrix, i find the dot a great guitar for the price... The tone is there.. although it was made in china.. I wasnt too amused with the ibanez when i tried them though.. either its the amp, or its the guitar.. I tried the dot on a practice amp, and it still gave me the same tone feel i m looking for in a semi hollow..

I was tempted to get one if i did not spend on woodwind gears instead.. lol..

Yeah, that was my argument too. But right now, since I'm teaching acoustic guitar most of the time...... the only acoustic I see within my budget that I'm really GASing over is the Elvis guitar. The other one is the Ibanez Euphoria, but that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off my budget.

DamN! I thought it would be within the 1.5k range. Oh well. Looks like it's a semi-hollow for me.

Blacktrix: SEMI HOLLOW FTW!!
lol... just get the dot, it aint that bad... and its cheap too.. I saw a similar SX semi hollow, but i dun know hows the tone, since SX is in woh fatt, dun like testing guitars while being stared down by the auntie.. lol

I think the ibanez acoustic are quite good too if you are looking for acoustic.. but nowadays i like to look for underdogs, lol. maybe samick, or sx or some chaplang brand that is freaking cheap but still sound good. i heard there is a brand call J.D. or something that is bloody cheap but good tone wise. High performance to price ratio.

Well, I tested a Rm3.2k Ibanez acoustic, all maple, and when they had great note separation on chords, they sounded real bad when you play more of a fingerstyle song.
Too quite, the bass lacked depth. =|
For that price, I'd rather top up 200 and get a BREEDLOVE!!!!! xD

And for JD, I got my friend to get one for bout 500, Dreadnought, Spruce top and Ovankol body. Sounds prettttty good for 500 (doesn't most dreads?)
so yeah, for JD, it's not bad for the money xD

wah....... you MUST win?
Play Dragonforce. rclxms.gif

Seriously, just play crowd favorites with some sing-a-longs. Enter Sandman is always a favorite, or just take a pop song and metal it up. Try Children of Bodom's version of Britney's Oops I Did It Again. That would be a crowd pleaser.

Oh, and for my guitar choice, I was checking out some of the Ibanez Acoustics online. I kinda like the Exotic wood ones.... should be around my budget range too. Will have to go to bents and check it out for myself and see if I want a semi-acoustic more, or a better acoustic for my lessons. I just need something with a faster neck, easier to play and better upper fret access. The Euphoria fits the category well (with it's Fishman Aura pickups to boot), but unfortunately, the price doesn't AND it's quite rare to find these days. Maybe I'll just save up for that.

And for the record, I did NOT end up with the hello kitty guitar. I used the deposit money to buy a Digitech Whammy instead...... which is now increased (or decreased if some people sees it) in value with Herman Li's signature.
