there's an user's review on cnet where the person purchased both the S350 and BD35 and overall he/she said BD35 trumped S350 in both aspects.

the link to that is somewhere on this thread.

yeah, read some AVSforums comparison also, BD-35 is better.. aiman would be proud.. rclxms.gif

I was in Singapore early this week.  The Samsung BDP was sold at S$500 (about RM1,200) at the Changi airport.  And I believe it will be much cheaper in downtown.  Why are prices in Malaysia still not adjusted (downwards) accordingly like plasma and LCD TVs?

it'll when the pirate BDs are sold for RM20-30 tongue.gif

Please add me as Pioneer 51 FD user.
It was the second unit from Desa Lowyat coz the first one kong within 4 days (no response and my disc still inside the player).sob...sob..
Upgraded the firmware (not profile) to 2.01 by using the disc ( Got from Glau).
Loading, play, eject etc.....still slow even after upgrade the firmware but i'm really happy with the picture and sound.
Replaced my avr from Onkyo 606 to Pioneer lx 60. The installer reposition my existing speakers.Tuned the system with spl meter.
Now i'm very happy with my system, dialogue is clear, good ambiance sound from front speaker, clear sound from rear speaker.Bass still good to my ears
Next upgrade will be kuro.
ohmy.gif 51 can kong so fast ar? heard the panny 35 would be a cheaper and better buy... but of coz cannot match the outlook of your nice LX60 gloss black.

since you have all pioneer set.. yes, next logical step would be a Kuro.. (gloss black also..) rclxms.gif

panny 35 available here already? i guess the price should be more than rm 2k.to say wich one better is quite difficult unless i manage to do the comparison by using same set up.
Well it could be manufacturer defects, otherwise it would not kong in 4 days of normal usage.
Thing that i like about 51 fd is audio quality. picturewise not much different from my previous sony 350.
Just called my installer and inform him about my intention of getting kuro.
*
the panny 35 is only USd222 (I believe a forumer bought it recently)

whoops Home theater Mag Dec08 issue just reviewed BDP-51FD (list USd599) vs BD35/BD55 (list 299/399)

quoting them in wrapping up paragraph,. "although pioneer definitely made some strides in its video performance, this player is a step back in basic operability and speed compared with other recent entries in the market. combined with the BDP-51FDs BD-live incompatibility, this isn't a player I can recommend given the state of the market today, in spite of it's strengths in other areas of performance."
also it failed 2:2 HD test. BD35/BD55 passed all the tests.

anyways, did the firmware come out yet to update the DTS-MA internal decoding? the review said at the time, it was waiting for update to do this decoding.
