use audyssey/ypao to first for the directions/distance calibration then use spl for db adjustments.. im set to 80db with my sub at 75db.. then after i did a phase calibration (this took some effort..) without adjusting subs db setting i gained extra 6-8db.. so happY~~

ill just throw this in again.. 'just get an svs..' all ur sub issues will be solve.. there wont be any 'need' for u to compare or google 'sub woofer' anymore.. hahaha i have honestly stopped browsing for subs after the svs..

now im after avrs (eyeing for 876), speakers (eyeing for psb's), and projector (eyeing at htkaki!!) hehe

my current project is portables smile.gif , over 2mths i bought myself 3 headfons (beyerdynamic dt880 & dt990pro, skullcandy Ti), cables (cryo cost me over 200usd), and a portable amp (ldmk1+).. haha such an expensive investment i must say.. gonna get another amp (Lisa III), 1 more headset (either hd650 or k701), and 1 more pmp (IMod)... haha on top of buying my blurays... im dyinggggggggggggg hahaha

HTkaki,

I decided to use the Sub SPL Meter to do the calibration. Guess what? After test running few tracks in the disc provided, one of my downlights nearest above the Sub DROPPED from the ceiling!!!  sweat.gif  I am so scared all the rest will fall eventually........phew.

The whole plaster ceiling shakes.....scary experience for me. I have to crank up my avr volume to the max and set the sub volume to something like 2 o'clock position in order to get the SPL to reach the Green light(reference level) before the real test based on the tracks in the cd. The highest I get is +4db so I cut the this db in the filter section.

The capacitor is made of 24k gold is it? tongue.gif
I still managed to tahan the temptation from spending mega bucks for my iPod....

Currently using RSA Predator to drive ESW9 while on the go, with Alo bling-bling LOD....
At home have spare GoVibe Petite to drive DT880....

But to think about it, my spending on my iPod is more than the cost of my SVS....
I'm using SB-12Plus as don't have the luxury of large room....

teflon vcaps with them TFTF bypass + with pure cryo x silver used for internal/external wiring and shit load of customs to it.. and oh ... Eichmann Silver Bullet plugs... hohoho and this is to feed a LISA III which im gonna order tomoro hehehe

but hmm ESW9... ive always wanted to hear how those sound... ive been reading alot about the ESW10jpn but hmm i cant see the logic of spending that much extra on them.. sighhhh im thinking of getting an SAA equinoxed HD650 next hehehe

You're freakin' hardcore man rclxms.gif
Spent US3k already on your portable setup?
Never heard a LISA before as decided to keep my budget ard the price of a Predator or Pico.
But from what was told by my portable kakis who have heard of LISA, all of them gives  thumbup.gif
My head is fairly big, so HD650 is not for me as it'll give me headache after prolong listening, so ended up can only choose from AT, Grado or Beyer stables. Tried AKG701 before and maybe will go for this early nt year.

As this is a subwoofer thread, I'm still contemplating whether I should get another SVS SB-12plus to run the subwoofer in stereo configuration hmm.gif
I know the low frequency from the sealed box cannot compare against the bigger SVS, but whether running in pair will give me the desired effect without having to place a big black "tong sampah" in the room tongue.gif

ill take screenshots when its all here lol

ill be adding a 2nd SVS next year i thinkkk then arrange it on each opposite corners of the room.. Top Left n bottom right.. lol dunno yet.. cuz im still talking with Mike on shipping cost to get their speakrs here.. did u see the speakers?? top of the line tweeters.... aaah~~

bro r u sure u wanna spend so much on something u havent heard b4.. subwoofer is  1 thing, speakers r totally diff.. what if the speaker r not your taste?  sell cheap cheap to us?smile.gif
*
lol am i sure.. not really biggrin.gif

but what the heck right? hahah almost all of my equipment i never heard before.. i just read online reviews and buy. my svs was cuz dirtrun just entered my thread and said give up on velo/rel/hsu and just go straight for svs.. i took my chances and rclxms.gif hahaha.

if it does not suit my liking then i just blame cuz im not an expert and i just need to get use to it.. and after awhile.. i will eventually like it.. haha there was this saying that still sticks to me about the svs speakers.. "at first it sounds like something's missing.. then i found out.. its Noise' haha such a powerful statement..

i got this 1 virus called "the what-if" virus.. haha

Bro,
SVS are famous for their subs, so I stick with their subs only.
Furthermore, never heard how's their speakers sound like, so not willing to take a gamble.

For speakers, I'm a firm believer in Focal Beryllium tweeter, as I auditioned the B&W Diamond's tweeter and Monitor Audio's ribbon tweeter before decided with Focal 1027Be for my front speakers.

Actually, no money to get Marten's speakers or Focal Utopia's line, so stick with the cheaper Electra's line as long as they using Be tweeter. laugh.gif

haha i know i know.. was just too happy with the sub that im just gonna trust everything they sell.. hahaha

hmm ive now been channeled towards a different focus though.. Ascend Sierra1... will pay close attention to this babies.. haha

hey u calibrated ur speakers/sub to how much db??

my bluray movie volume = 0db
astro = 23-26db
pc music = 20
pc games = 15
ps3 games = 15
dvd = 10-15

theres a trick i read and tested which is said to work well for bass.. set ur bass at amp to -2 and set crossover at 80hz.. hmm cant remember what it does but i remember the forum getting excited about it.. hah.
