Spec feral but use balance spells until you get to kitty form. That's for leveling
At 60 or 70, spec whatever u want. Being a tree is fun raiding but heroics not exactly easy.

QUOTE(ashwin988 @ Jun 23 2008, 10:59 AM) Depends on what you wana do like everyone said. I speced feral for 1 year plus. U will be asked to tank alot in pve situations . Even in BT you will be one of the off tanks if you are good. I was one of the tanks for Blood boil. Right now i have had enough of Feral and going Balance and i am having fun. Its a bit different then feral and i am learning but the best thing about being a druid , if you are bored you can always get gear and switch to something else that is much more fun. Balance will be my new spec for WOTLK. And one more thing if people force you to spec to heal , just move on to a better guild. My ex guild finally wants moonkin druids but too bad i am not interested and left them for a better guild which i am in right now. I said leveling. And granted, if you're not used to watching the damage figures during the scrolling combat text and trying out other characters, it is actually a bit difficult (not impossible) to actually know the character of the performance. The thing about leveling is that until any character reaches within the 20-30 level change, a druid can be slightly difficult to level against mobs of the same level. Plus, different mobs have different characteristics, i.e. high DPS, high armor, weak armor, low DPS, high health, high dodge, high hits, etc. Most characters start out at roughly the same advantage until levels 20-30. But again depends on the class and the skill of the player. What you're telling me is just the common perception. But to keep yourself interested in the game, it's also worth trying out other builds and see how it fits after a month of regular playing. One day playing may not be enough experience for a player. Forcing to spec as a healer? I was "forced" to and found out that I had fun healing resto until trying out the "unnerf" heroics. Those were such tough shit last year that today, it's seriously peanuts. Still tough but not that tough. Feral druid = Rogue that can self-heal better. But all you'll be good for is tanking. Your DPS numbers will not max the hard-hitting folks and will be with the hybrid dpsers above the tanks. So, you're only going to be good for a rebirth. |

Just a bit more. Starting areas for druids can be painful. You either have to be 1-2 levels higher than the mob or you have to party in a group to do quests, be it solo or party quest. Both Horde and Allies.

QUOTE(ashwin988 @ Jun 23 2008, 11:42 AM) @myremi Nah, I don't flame much. Always felt too guilty when I do do it and regret it a lot. I enjoy a fiesty discussion although try not to apologize too much - shows low self-esteem. Be bold! Just do it politely. Anyway...Yes i know what you mean by feral not being able to push out those numbers. Yes we dont but that doest not mean we cant. Let me tell you why. Ferals are never given a pure chance to just dps. A cat druid with 44% crit will do very very good dps, top 4 dps. This is proven. I never bothered to focus on cat gear at hyjal level and i just used my t5/t4 mostly for tanking only and even my dps gear was just trinkets and necks and stave's for dps. I did not go all out and get rogue gear Secondly yes I dont like to be forced to be a healer so if u like healing and you were forced then i guess I am happy for you. Thirdly, A balance druid can top dps charts. It i feel is the only hybrid class that can manage to do it. Dont ask me how, I am a new Moonkin now compared to feral and I am still learning but i have seen wws of Balance druids topping the damage meters. It has been proven, we are not the easiest class to level as balance or the best dps class. But we pull our weight. Leveling as feral is a very good idea , but it can be done as balance, but feral makes things cake. Sorry if i offended you, but thats my 2 cents on the matter. The last time i posted here i got flamed for no reason. I wont reply if i get flamed again. Itemization is hard for a feral DPS druid. Even feral tanking, it is hard and not much choices in the loot table although it's better now than in TBC. As for being on top of the DPS chart, again it depends. Very very subjective. I forgot to mention that I was benchmarking against results from a full clear of SST/TK / starting Hyjal/BT. By the time a raid has gotten that far, the players (hopefully) would have maximise their potential. Plus, the loot for the caster and melee classes (dedicated one spec type of classes) would have so much better stats that it's usually difficult for hybrids later on. Being at the top DPS doesn't necessarily mean that a raider knows best either. If the DPS difference between all 5-10 raiders are very small (e.g. within 100-200 DPS), then it becomes again subjective. If they all survive the fight, it would either mean that there's some who are geared but not that good players, or poorly geared but very good players or the raid encounter. Having done recruitment for awhile now, I found that ppl like to claim being on the top of DPS charts but once they are with us, they are usually in the group just above the tank. That's why a lot of raiding guilds ask about WWS and even 25-man trials. I suppose ZA may be a better trial since it pushes the potential recruit very hard to perform. Maybe more so than a 25-man encounter but again depends. Balance druids topping DPS charts. I'd say that you either had very good threat-generating tanks, very good healers to heal the balance druid who would probably be pulling aggro if you had very bad banks, all the other DPS raiders (melee + caster) need improvement. Mind you, I sometimes wonder at other space chickens though. My guild has one Oomkin who arenas and regularly pulls aggro off our tanks who are already doing high TPS. As for this forum, sometimes just have to have thick skin to accept other people's opinion. It is what they experienced but there would be at least an ounce of truth there. Maybe the reasoning may not be so sound but the truth is often their observation and how they tried to reason it to happen. Post up your WWS. And being the healer isn't that bad. When my guild went into Hyjal and BT, we set up an Offspec rule where Offspec Raiders can get free loot that none of the Mains wanted. There's an official Offspec list for this. I'm one of those healers. When I was in SSC/TK, I never went healing but always went shadow DPSing. But BT and Hyjal bosses occasionally needed 9 healers while we were learning so I used to hop on to help. Plus, I was getting bored of being the shadow priest DPSing for a year so healing was of a different challenge. I wanted to be more versatile and explore the different builds. ATM, once I sort out my healing gear for my priest, I was thinking of going Oomkin just for a change and see what that is like. |

QUOTE(lowzi @ Jun 23 2008, 09:57 PM) If a balance druid can top dps charts, something is very wrong with your raid. Rogues (even without glaives) and warlocks should ALWAYS be on top I hope that u're not meaning Holy DPS. >.<Hybrid classes that are better at dps than moonkins, think - Enhancement shaman - Fury warrior - Retribution pallies - Shadow priests (Holy should be considered THE offspec nowadays) |

One thing about the WWS is that it's also possible to find crazy WWS from private servers.
http://www.wwsscoreboard.com/classplacings.php The above is also a WWS Scoreboard of various guild WWS. The WWS link needs to be fed in manually but it does do the checking. I agree that Balance Druid can DPS. Making claims that they are the top damage meters, then kudos to them but overall, the other raid members are unhealthy in terms of their DPS potential. |
