MGS Mobile short review (may contain minor spoilers):
for those wanting the next instalment of the MGS series, this is not it.
despite the fact that it is canon, the story adds little to nothing to what we already know.
Story:
it tries to mimic it's big brother by adding in some twists here and there, but because the story is so short, there really isnt much room for big shocks like what you'd find in MGS 1,2,3,4.
for purists who simply want to experience everything Metal Gear, obviously you can do no wrong with this game.
gameplay:
handles almost exactly the same as it's console brethren.
you can knock on walls
hang from railings
crawl
enter first person view
shoot from first person
use camouflage to evade detection
jump on crates
open lockers
enter and shut locker doors
look through locker vent holes
choke enemies
punch-kick enemies
call Otacon(enter codec)
sound:
simple sound design..sounds like MIDI (blergh

) but the music is competent enough. still retains that "MGS" feel.
no voice over work (pretty much a given..just look at Metal Gear Ac!d for the PSP)
boss fights:
only ONE.
and no Metal Gear
Pros:
it's MGS Mobile.MGS on your phone.
varied weapons:
M9
SOCOM
FAMAS
NIKITA
C4
Chaff grenades
Camouflage (you can either take a picture using the in game camera,or use your phone's camera.both work)
^this is just a mobile game..but to have all that in?
items:
Camera(in game camera)
Rations
Bandana(unlockable)
as the bandana is in the game,i think it's safe to assume that stealth is in the game too.(but no assurances on that)
during the end boss fight, your cover actually disintegrates the more the boss shoots at it.
very nice touch
keeps you on your toes, especially since there isnt much cover to begin with
cons:
no end Metal Gear fight(it was done on the GBC,for god's sake..why cant a more advanced "system" not have a Metal Gear fight of it's own?
no other characters(series regular) outside of Otacon and Snake. prior to playing the game i read somewhere about Ocelot. too bad the only involvement he had, was selling the MGS schematics
PRIOR to the events in this game!
story is nowhere near the quality of it's console counterparts. seriously, parts of it are literally ripped from previous games

aiming needs tuning.when i first played the game, i tried using FPV to shoot a dart into the enemy's head, but for some reason nothing hit.despite the fact that the cross-hair acknowledged that i was aiming the guy's head

in the end opted to break their necks instead
personal score:
8/10
the best game on the ngage yet.
ridiculously addictive,too
