Oh and one more thing! How culturally diverse is the student population? As for the Malaysians, is it predominantly Chinese, Malay, Indian etc...? Or is it more or less an equal divide? Sorry for so many questions! And thank you all in advance biggrin.gif

First of all how was the Petroleum Engineering feedback from the student so far? From my information this discipline hasn't been accredited by BEM so anyone can clarify this for me? I would like to know the amount of student who is taking this discipline so far. What is the operating hour of the computer lab/library in this university? Thanks in advance.

There's no swimming pool although the lake would be a nice place to take a dip (it's the lake connected to the nearby river). Gym wise, it's always pack with students, especially workout machines that are popular, very hard to workout.

Yeah it looks nice from the outside I guess but what about the inside and what is the washroom situation there? I heard that its a bit far from places to buy food and other stuff. So like you Kabata I don't know if I should apply to curtin water which I just found out that there is also Curtin 2 so what are the differences between curtin 1 and 2 and if anyone has pictures of the rooms please share smile.gif Thank you

Hey buddy, I lived at Curtin Water (I had the ensuite room) and I had no complaints at all. And yes, there's quite a distance between Curtin Water and DPS (where all the shops are at). By foot, it's going to take you about 5-10 minutes. Walk with a bunch of friends and you'll reach DPS before you know it.

In regard to the condition of the available on-campus accommodation, Curtin Water is the victor. It's newly built, clean and comfortable. On the other hand, Curtin Villa and Curtin Village have been around since the inception of Curtin Sarawak so there's bound to be more wear-and-tear at these places. If you're the type of person who would like to sleep in and still get to class on time, Lakeside would be the best option.

Nevertheless, should you really decide to go with Curtin Water, I'd say GOOD ON YOU smile.gif

Cheers.

Hey guys I am an intl student who will be joining curtin in march next year, I a curious about their engineering and science foundation, How is the quality of education there and would you label it a hard university even for a hard working student? does it really prepare you for efy? I am also confused between engineering and geology.
Lastly is the area safe?

Thanks!

Hi Inter Milan. I currently study engineering degree in Curtin now. Of cuz the foundation in every uni will fully prepare students to enter their own degree and about the difficulties, its really depends, depends on how much effort u can put into it, but all my friends that studied with me they all complete the foundation programme and study in degree right now. smile.gif

Thanks LCChie , may I ask what engineering you are currently studying? I a thinking of environmental or chemical, I think the environmental one is new and not many job prospects later also oddly it doesn't even exist in Curtin Perth, anyways how would you rank the living accommodation? I am interested in Curtin water. How is the safety situation near the accommodations I know they are gated. One thing I know for sure is the environment in campus is excellent for studying and the campus is really beautiful.

I'm currently study chemical engineering in Curtin. As most of the people are currently talking about recycling or taking care of environment right now, so I think Curtin believe that Environmental engineering is predicted to be one of the fastest growing engineering disciplines in the near future. U may no need to choose ur major right now as u have foundation and degree first year total 2 years of time to think which major u r more interested in. For me, the living condition in curtin is quite good as there is shop-lots and a supermarket just opposite Curtin Villa. And there is private houses nearby curtin villa and curtin village doing catering business too. Curtin Water I and II will be slightly further from the area, around 1km away but curtin do provide free shuttle bus services to students. Hope this info can answer ur question smile.gif

Curtin's chemical engineering is really good along with their civil engineering. Yeah that is why I think it would be good thing to study and you are right I have two years to find out, one can roam around when in uni and talk with different departments to find out what is the most subject that interests him/her haha. Yeah Villa I read from the other posts in this thread is next to the shops but water is the newest and cleanest. Thank you for your help, I wish you the best in your studies biggrin.gif

Most probably I will be joining curtin in feb 2017 for foundation in Commerce as it is the most recent intake, anyone else also aiming for the same intake and for the same programme?

Hi Qp123, some of my friends also studying accounting & finance in curtin, from what they said, most of the Bcom students studying accounting & finance as this course is rank top 200 in the world under QS World Ranking and Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Accounting students will also get full exemption into professional paper such as ACCA and CPA. For example, after u graduate from accounting course in Curtin, you just need to take the remaining 5 professional papers in order to get ACCA qualification. ACCA do also offer Curtin students "ACCA Accelerate Program", which they provide chances to Curtin students to take the first out of the remaining 5 professional paper during their final year.

From my opinion, Curtin is a good choice to students compared to twinning UK degree programme as Curtin run their own programme by themselves but for twinning programmes in malaysia, most of the unis are running other UK unis programme on behalf.

Do hope I can answer your questions. smile.gif
